  1. CJ moved to Washington at the height of the Miami HEAT’s domination of the National Basketball Association. At the time, in an effort to help ease their son’s transition to a new city, his fathers subscribed to NBA TV so he could continue watching the out-of-town team’s games. Over the subsequent three years, his interest in the Miami franchise waned somewhat but Ritchie’s arrival convinced the men it was a good idea to continue the service. They thought if it had helped the older teen acclimate
  2. Love amongst the ruins. A dark tale about facing insurmountable challenges and accepting defeat is inevitable. The love portion happens in flashbacks to a few hours before the end but it might as well have been ages. A good old zombie tale sure to be enjoyed by those who appreciate the macabre.
  3. Although written a decade ago, the stories geopolitical entanglements ring true today. The human race faces extinction and some people may be required to make personal sacrifices for mankind to survive. The good of the many over the good of the few--or the one--is an idea popular to Star Trek fans. Maybe because the author hails from Australia, the story evokes memories of On The Beach by Nevil Shute. How horrible it would be to watch everyone you've ever known die without being able to stop it, while one waits for death to strike. A very well written story with interesting if not always likable characters. The flood of varied emotions assaulting the reader will keep you reading even when you dread what the outcome may be.

  4. @Parker Owens Thank you! I think my writing has improved but I realize some things I was experimenting with here have crept into my writing on a permanent basis. I've been so caught up in other projects, I've allowed ideas for other SciFi stories to languish even though it's the genre I enjoy most. I always intended to write an epilogue to this one showing all the extraterrestrial stuff was wiped from their minds when Colt became fully human.
  5. Hush! We can't have people finding out the next CJ story goes live in 11 hours. They might all rush to their computer and crash the Internet! Damn! I'm hallucinating again and I'm sober!

    I Promise

Tony and Colt were created while the first CJ story was being edited and I had time on my hands. It all began with a prompt respons. Since they're in NYC, I folded them into the large series when CJ started visiting the City. It was lazy of me but I liked the characters so much... I just us tread it over for the first time in ages and realized it's a damn romance story!. Let's meep it quiet, it. Oils ruin my carefully cultivated image. Yep another dark hair/blonde hair couple. Chalk it up to me growing up in South Florida and our multitude of mixed couples. Ther's even a joke about this in an upcoming chapter. Thanks for the reaction and comment, bud.
  7. StarBridge Train Station is a story with an outstanding premise and setting which doesn't quite deliver on its promise. A series of individuals pass each other at the terminal, each lost in their own misery which could be developed into their own story. Instead we're granted a glimpse into their lives through flashing scenes designed to... I'm not sure what they're designed to incite in the reader since each one is truncated before being allowed to blossom. The characters seem interesting in their own ways but there's no cohesion to their tales.
  8. So I'm watching the Today show this morning (mix of news and entertainment for those not in the USA) and I thought I was watching the CJ News Network. The first report concerned the President's State of the Union address and featured Massachusetts Congressman Joseph Kennedy III. The subsequent one dealt with a new effort by three US companies to lower health care costs (did you know we spend an average of 10k a year per person?) and one of the individuals portrayed in the report is Amazon's head, Jeff Bezos. I was half expecting the young Mr. Abello to show up in the following one.
  9. You're evil!!! No wonder we get along.
  10. Either that or lots of wine. Poor guy will be carrying around a brown paper bag by the time the book's over.
  11. Yesterday I told Kitt I was experiencing the usual pre-new book jitters. In the upcoming book, CJ attempts to wean himself off politics. Like most junkies, he has trouble letting go. We'll find out how he does in 4 days. Will CJ spiral into depression after election night? Will he try to introduce the president to Lola? And how often will Owen roll his eyes when his boyfriend's name gets shouted out in public? Stay tuned...

    First Kiss

I can't wait to see how many long, first-kiss scenes pop up after this advice. LOL Won't be in my work since I don't write this type of story (my characters don't do angst or drawn-out self-doubts) but it should be popular with a large segment of the GA stable of authors. It's good of you to share what has worked for you, Comsie.
  13. I shared season tickets for the Panthers first five seasons. I've been meaning to mention hockey again in the story but since it's the sport I know least abou, I've been lazy.
  14. Ritchie was delighted last time the HEAT beat the Raptors. I think CJ's more of a Wizards fan these days. Okay, we've covered 3 of the Big Four... Hockey anyone?

    From Space

I heard faint echoes of Galaxy Quest, one of my all-time favorites. Your story was just as enjoyable. Thanks for making me smile, kiddo.
  16. The story opens with a scene designed to hook the reader. It works. And then the author attempts to reel you in with a slow buildup lovers of angst and chick movies will grab onto and not want to relinquish. It'll work for many but it doesn't for me. Except for transcripts of a handful of e-mails, the entire story's a long first person narrative by someone who thinks he has a secret he should share but is too insecure to do so. I missed the connection to character we usually get from well written dialogue. The author is good at their craft. The story's well written and there are few errors in it. Just not my cup of tea.
  17. @Parker Owens You mean a school lunchroom has the same arguments as a bunch of bikers at a rally? I gave Cesar a Caddy, Brett an F-350, and CJ a Jeep. Got the 3 major Amercan manufacturers covered. Galaxy phone and iPad but I never specified laptop brand. Let's make it a Windows. The third one shows promise. Trashing the New England Patriots is always fun!
  18. There's one big one left I haven't written much about but it's already part of the outline for one of the final chapters. Considering I'm trying to wrap up loose ends, not sure how much I need to look for new material LOL
  19. Why didn't I know about that site before now? I could have had a lot of fun reading through the pros and cons and maybe picked up something or other. Did you read through the list of topics? I've touched upon most of those issues!!!! Hmmm, school uniforms? Daylight Saving Time? Milk?
  20. I just replied to a reader from Germany who likes the series but dislikes CJ's attitude towards guns and wearing helmets while riding. In our interconnected world, it's fascinating to see how different people react to such things. I've tried to convey some of what I'm aware of using Owen and his 'Australian' attitudes but I'm still surprised about how strongly some of those beliefs are. I'm running out of controversial subjects to tackle. Sex, drugs, infidelity, guns, and helmets have probably cost me some readers but at least I know CJ's not one dimensional. Need to work harder at coming up with something to create a little more controversy. LOL
  21. First four chapters have been uploaded, waiting on final edits for the final chapters. There will be no delays in posting.
  22. This forum thread seems to be dying a slow death. Before we bury it, and in case there's anybody out there paying attention, I'd like to post a reminder. CJ & COMPANY RETURN TO GAY AUTHORS A WEEK FROM TODAY That will be all...
  23. If possible, a staff member should edit the story and adjust the font size. I think one of the software updates didn't interact well with whatever the author did.
  24. Simplistic story that fails to deliver on its potential. The lack of a real conflict leaves you wondering what we missed. Although the premise is adequate, it's development is weak and all we're left with is someone second guessing themselves and a too convenient happy ending.
