  1. I first read this story nearly four years ago. At the time, I commented to the author I had enjoyed it. I did so again with the second reading; maybe a bit more than before. Biology plays a strong role in how Jayce and Keef end up meeting and becoming entangled. A different type of entanglement that that experienced by their fathers without their awareness. This simple, cute tale does touch upon subjects of interracial/interspecies relations, family obligations, and political and military matters. Quite a lot to cram into such a limited number of words. But you can ignore all those if you want and not search for hidden meanings. The good feelings engendered by Day-Glo Afterdark are enough for me to recommend you read it.
  2. Some of us have been lucky enough to have that perfect summer when time wasn't a hindrance and adventure beckoned. I think in the future, Trevor will look back at the break between high school and college as just such a period. No Shirt? No Problem! is a feel-good tale which should put a smile on readers' lips. Trevor sets out for California to meet his future and in the process meets Jason. What could happen when two young men meet at the beach and be thrown together by a simple accident? Read this great little story and you'll find out. You should come back here after and thank me for the suggestion.

    Gifting Day

I enjoyed that. Look forward to more.
  4. I smiled from the first paragraph on. Excellent take on the Day of Silence theme by an author who can definitely write. When friends support friends, a chain reaction begins which can inspire a school, a town, and maybe the world.

  5. Obligation to Myself is a gem of a short story. It moves and it teaches. About intolerance, about what we do out of love, and about standing up for what's right. It left me wondering why some people bother to have children and while others become educators. The ones in this story have no business being either. But the protagonist inspired me. If you believe one person taking a stand can make a difference, you should read this story.

  6. The story is a collection of somewhat related recollections thrown together seemingly at random. Disjointed is the word that comes to mind. This is one of those instances where I want the author to explain what he was trying to accomplish. Not sure I can figure it out on my own.

  7. Short and concise short story tinged with sadness and resolve. The concept is clever but the writing leaves something to desire. Instead of a current journal entry, it reads like someone remembering a long ago event. I think using a simple past tense would have improved the immediacy of the story.

  8. Interesting story with a nice twist at the end. Well written and thought out but it requires the reader to pay attention. Otherwise the confusion on the court may spill over to the reader.
  9. The description makes it sound like it's right up my alley. I'm a sucker for characters doing good for others. I'll be reading the story starting this afternoon.
  10. Cinderella meets technology. The robots are a great twist and Cinder isn't quite the helpless drudge of the original story. Great updating of a classic with a few surprises along the way.
  11. This story is a quick and easy way to cheer up anyone. Chuckles are unavoidable and as plentiful as pies in Georgie's diet.

    Given a Chance

Wonderful star that has me anticipating the next installment. I hear echoes of your story about the man with Alheimer's who married due to societal expectations. I also see bits of myself in Eric. Isolation of older people is common and something I force myself not to allow. Love your way of writing these stories, sensitive and emotional characters, bordering on pathetic without actually reaching that level.
  16. This reinterpretation of the traditional story has a blonde boy as Goldilocks and three lumberjacks replacing the bears. Aren't most lumberjacks bears in real life? I digress. It's an interesting take on the tale we all grew up with. The ending is cute as Goldilocks is told why the punishment inflicted for breaking into the cabin was what it was. Although well written from a technical point of view, I felt the story faltered in its tone. At times it felt slow, at other times it flew by. The emotional content wasn't there most of the time. Overall it felt rushed and inconsistent. All in all, it's not the best I've read but it's far from the worst. If you have a free thirty minutes, it's worth the read.

  17. If you run out, use a photograph as a prompt now and then. You have plenty of excellent ones yourself. I've seen it done once since I've been around and it was a popular prompt. A picture of a classic car. Had a lot of responses from all sort of authors!
  18. A delightful take on a classic story. Peter Pan has been alone in Neverland for years when his fairy companion convinces him it's time for a change. What follows is a funny and at times tender, very gay tale. The late Jack Scribe is one of my favorite authors in the world of gay-men stories. His clear, down-to-earth style is captivating and his characters are extremely relatable. The story is sprinkled with modern cultural references which in a couple of instances have already become dated: Who the heck has a MySpace account these days? The majority are still relevant and will make you chuckle. Are you ready to find out what kind of stud Peter turns into as he nears his twentieth birthday? Well, stop reading the review and get on to the story. You won't regret it.

  19. You hang in there, you hear me? If I'm staring 60 in the face, I expect you to do the same when the time comes. Even if your road's had more potholes than mine. Mental health days are good for us. I had one yesterday when cooler temperatures and a day-long drizzle soured my mood. So what if I wasted most of the day watching Property Brothers? I've accomplished more today so far than I did all day yesterday. Now, if you excuse me, I need to shower and go flirt with have my hair cut by a muscle bear. Write or call if you want to talk to a different person for a change.
  20. It was definitely sweeter the second time around. Two plus years after reading Little Man, it was just as captivating as it was then. Three strong men as main characters make for interesting dynamics, but that is only one of the factors making this story so appealing. If you're looking for stereotypical characters in a stereotypical romance tale you need to keep looking. This is an incredibly well crafted love story between the protagonists. And while the sex scenes described are sizzling, it's the tender moments between the three which show their love for each other. Little Man should be read without distractions, you want to savor each line. I urge you to give it a try. And when you do, come back here and leave a note thanking me for the recommendation. You will love this story.

    Broken Men

I'm so jealous of Little Man. Why aren't I sitting here with a naked muscle God on either side of me?
  22. Good info, Myr. I've been following a story in process but already labeled as entry 0 in a series. I wasn't even aware that was possible. This type of information should be required reading for anyone trying to post a story!
  23. @JeffreyL How do you think I feel? Cesar was born the year after I graduated from high school! The average age will inch upwards in the next book when grandparents are introduced.
  24. When this chapter appeared, I had to run from the lynching mob intent on extracting painful payment for leaving them hanging. I was new and readers had no idea if I would continue the story. Hopefully, they've calmed down by now Harley was the first in what would become CJ's group of close friends. He's the only one to make an appearance in Summer!
  25. I read bicep and was like I read the Lo-Jack scene and was like The entire chapter is a treasure and the dialogue is some of your best.
