I bailed him out the next morning. Nearly 30 years after that event, we still give him crap about it.

Happy to provide a fix. LOL For a list of potential stories coming this year, take a look at the CJ thread in the promoted authors discussion forum.

Glad I could make the beginning of the new year interesting. Jay's fall from grace was partially inspired by Rudy Giuliani and his efforts to overturn Biden's win. This may not lead to Fanning being disbarred, but it could hurt his reputation and his legal practice. His drinking aggravates and already sketchy attitude.

2016, 2018, and 2020 were all significant to CJ's growth. Clinton's campaign, marriage, and fatherhood in order. I envisioned the summer of 2022 being just as important in establishing relationships that will bear fruit in the future. I highlight those made connections over the remaining chapters.

I've written a bunch of weddings, and I can't help but inserting a little drama in them. @Reader1810 wasn't thrilled when I had the groomsmen tackle CJ and Owen to the ground at the end of their ceremony, but I explained I wasn't used to calm (read boring weddings. At least not after my youngest brother got arrested at the end of the middle bro. He was wearing a tuxedo for his mug shot.

CJ's learned throwing punches isn't always the best idea; he leaves punching drunks waiting in line to his brother. His sharp tongue will be the best weapon in the future.

Thanks, Chris. Let's see if I can keep the streak going. Only 365 days until the next January 1.

I've followed along and most morning I smiled when I saw how many chapters you'd read overnight. Thank you for all the reactions, and I'm glad you've enjoyed my efforts. At some point, you should branch off and read the spinoffs. The do offer additional info on CJ and Owen. Happy new year.

LMAO Yeah... weddings. I married CJ off early, but for most of his contemporaries will be tying the know once they've graduated from college. There's one more coming during the summer of 2022, with an entirely different political flavor. The next one takes place in Michigan with a bunch of liberals. LOL There's a wedding planned for November 2027 and another one in June 2028. Let's see if I get around to writing those.

It's so damn good to have you commenting. I wouldn't worry about warnings as long as you keep your political comments to what's in the story. Anybody gives you crap, you let me know. We'll hear about Mrs. Fanning's reaction to her husband's actions in the next chapter.

Carlos Hazday commented on Carlos Hazday's story chapter in As Time Goes By • Part V - Excerpt
Can you believe I posted that almost 5 years ago? Although the scene was conceived as a way of showing CJ's involvement with athletics and his social calendar. When I created Paul I knew I'd be writing his wedding. I even mentioned his family's business because it would fit in with CJ's life path. Yes.I do plan ahead. LOL- 26 comments

As Time Goes By • Part V - Excerpt
Carlos Hazday posted new chapter in Newport - Summer of '22 Book III
CJ did his homework before the event. Proper preparation was something he learned while working on the Clinton 2016 presidential campaign and became standard operating procedure for him. While researching in advance of the reception, he learned Thompson's Boat Center had served as the home of Georgetown Crew for near fifty years. Located at the intersection of Rock Creek Parkway and Virginia Avenue on the Potomac River in Georgetown, Thompson's was a public facility owned by the National Park Se- 26 comments

Although CJ’s plans to run for president of the United States were firm, the steps necessary to achieve his goal were not. During the wide-ranging conversation with Carson on the flight to Rhode Island, he and Owen stressed they were flexible on how to get where they wanted. Some of it would depend on the country’s political climate and which party controlled Congress and the White House during the intervening years. The exchange was conducted quietly to avoid anyone overhearing. “I’m not s

In Newport for a wedding, CJ’s confronted from the right by a Donald Trump acolyte and from the left by an Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez fan. In both instances, he deftly refutes their arguments, impressing the groom’s father sufficiently he offers CJ a job.

@astone2292 Thought you might enjoy a short story (500 or so words) from a master.

Thanks! I've read the story countless time, and Clarke's storytelling is as magnificent each time as the first one. Talk about packing a punch in a flash piece! Really glad you enjoyed it, Dave.

BTW, I didn't know D.C. was home. I hope I've done your hometown good in the CJ series.

Nope. This is a sore subject for me. All Mom accomplished was make Dad miserable until she died. The day after her funeral, he had a cigar in his mouth. When he was living in the ALF alone, my brothers and I kept him well supplied. Last time this one woman told me I should quit smoking because it was unhealthy, I suggested she stop eating because being as fat as she was, was unhealthy. And the worst part is the hypocrisy. Most of the meddlers think nothing of drinking and getting drunk although it's unhealthy too. For the record, I'm a reformed smoker, but quitting was my choice.
