CJ's obviously the one getting most ink, but I've enjoyed aging all the characters. Ritch was a little kid when we met him and now he's an Air Force officer. Where have the years gone? I think of most of this characters as my extended family, and continually worry about making them sound and act realistic. Glad you can feel a connection with them too.

I just added Harley and his girlfriend to the cast of The District. That one's set in Washington a couple of weeks before our boys travel to Cuba. I've missed writing him.

Although not entirely outlined, The Agean is on my "Coming Attractions" list. It'll be a while before I know details. You have any idea how tough it is to coordinate the Squad, Air Force personnel, private jets, motorcycles, record companies and sponsors? Working on it.

Glad you're enjoying our little vacation. A couple more chapters left and the next one see's us at a Club in Ibiza. I hear the DJ's spectacular. -

My characters making a big deal out of milestone birthdays is partially based on my experience, but I've never spent a couple of hundred thousand dollars on a celebration. Even if I wanted to splurge big like that for my 70th, my credit's not good enough. -

I had something similar happen with a bottle of Opus 1 Cabernet, my fault for not storing it properly. Vega Sicilia I discovered in my 20s when it was affordable. I'd forgotten the name and @JACC helpfully provided it when I mentioned the wine. A liquor store near me had a few bottles available when I checked, but they were locked behind glass and out of my price range. Maybe I'll splurge for that 70th birthday I've been talking about. -

Thanks, Gary. My problem's I come up with details about their lives I can't always fit chronologically, so using descriptions of past events and future plans lets me get them out there. Events like their trip to Cuba in August 2022 and the shipwreck's discovery will be detailed in a stand alone short story at some point. BTW Did you know CJ and Owen are in Boston today? They attended some sort of environmental awareness ceremony yesterday. And they may have added a couple more interesting people to their circle. https://www.nbcboston.com/news/local/earthshot-ceremony-president-biden-meeting-on-the-royal-agenda-for-friday/2909478/ -

Life interfering with your reading habits? LOL You may not react as quickly as in the past, but I know you're reading and I'm glad you're enjoying. -

A tryke will be the step between my Road King and the wheelchair. At least for me, a highlight of travel is exploring not only locations but cuisine. In this story, I tried to share details of at least one meal each day. And I plan to explore CJ and Owen hiring a private chef for certain dinner parties in the future. -

You need a Whole Foods or Trader Joe's to find Cabrales. And a good bottle of Liston wine to poach the pears in. I have a story finished set in 2022 again, and it'll be the next one posted. I also have half a dozen others in some stage of planning. What gets written next is entirely up in the air, but those stories won't be written in chronological order. I'v realized I need to write what calls to me instead of following strict time lines. But I guarantee each one will move CJ forward in his as yet publicly unannounced political goals. -

Wait! You mean your life's not as complicated as theirs? LMAO I'd like to tell readers your other half frequently reads the drafts I send you. In this chapter, he liked the comment about Ritch not being smart enough to be a Marine. That made my day. -

Thanks, Jose. For the praise and your assistance. I tried to create a vacation trip I would have enjoyed myself, and I'm glad readers are having a good time too. Limiting the cast and the surroundings forced me to concentrate on the interactions. I used those to explain some things previously left open and set up future stories. As @dughlas said, we have a lot to cover in coming stories. -

Thanks, Tony. CJ's the main character in the series so I provide more info on him than anyone else. But it was fun trying to sneak things in while watching the action from different character's POV. We starte with Liebe and the epilogue will be from the twins perspective. -

Thanks, Theo. Yeah, I wanted to show they haven't slowed down after CJ was elected. They have a dozen years before their incarcerated in the White House, and we can assume they didn't sit around doing nothing in the meantime. LOL- 51 comments

Kinda, sorta... Davey was adopted as an infant, and I do know the circumstances. It has to be the right time for that to be revealed, though. I think that's 5 years after the sailing trip.- 51 comments

Thank you! Readers react best to chapters with CJ confronting someone, but this story was meant to be a vacation for the family and readers. One thing I've figured out is mixing story lines makes tales more interesting. Since I have no idea what I'll write in the future or in what order, but I know details of what's happened and what will happen, I'm trying to get them out there. Naming an exhibit at the Smithsonian may not warrant an entire chapter, but it's a good enough detail to talk about. I kinda like the sound of an outback exhibit presented by the Liston-Abello Family.- 51 comments

Vociferous? LOL If it had not been in narration, someone would have called it a quarter word. My actual 50th I celebrated quietly. Dinner with a brother, his wife, and my two nieces. Later that year I spent two weeks in Australia. For my 60th I rode Amtrak to NYC with a stop in Washington for a couple of days. Not sure I'll do anything as strenuous as hiking the Blue Mountains or walking half of Manhattan for my 70th. Where can I park my wheelchair?- 51 comments

That was definitely fun, but we're not done yet. Part 2 of Owen's birthday celebration is coming up next week. Doesn't Ibiza have a club or two our crew can hit? LOL- 51 comments

The Attorney - Part I
Carlos Hazday commented on Carlos Hazday's story chapter in The Attorney - Part I
I've tried to show CJ and Owen becoming more comfortable with their wealth as time passes. As Owen said, they have more money than they can spend so their focus is not on wealth accumulation. Their celebrations may have become a bit more extravagant, but their charitable work has also grown. I've tried to infuse their actions with good intentions, while they acknowledge as a politician CJ may benefit from their good deeds.- 51 comments

The Attorney - Part I
Carlos Hazday commented on Carlos Hazday's story chapter in The Attorney - Part I
My goal's always been to show CJ evolving from a troubled, hurt teen to a thoughtful adult. The past six years have been politically tumultuous in the United States, and I hope we can at some point return to civil discourse without name calling and childish behavior. I believe some politicians do have the country and their constituents best interests and heart, and CJ will be one of them. The fact he's willing to forego growing his personal wealth so as not to appear he's using his office for his and his family's benefit is my way of slapping down those who care nothing about anyone but themselves.- 51 comments

Friday, 7 May 2027 Formentera “HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OZZIE!” Coffee mug held aloft to avoid spillage, CJ kept the cabin’s door open, allowing three vociferous children to sprint inside and jump in bed with their other father. His smile was an automatic reaction to Owen yawning but spreading his arms to capture them. “Happy thirty-fifth, Oz.” The wish was echoed by the rest of the family as they crowded into the room. Brett handed his son-in-law a steaming mug and sat next to him. “Hap
