First, I'd like to wish all our American members a very Happy Thanksgiving! I will be spending the day at my aunt's, stuffing my face with turkey and all the sides I'd be perfectly happy with a plate full of stuffing and gravy, though. 🤤 I am thankful for everyone who makes this site as awesome as it is! I'm also thankful for everyone who participates in site events, such as the anthologies and other contests run throughout the year. Speaking of site events, we have two coming up relatively soon. The deadline to send me links for the Prompt Team Event is December 3rd, which is next Tuesday! There are a lot of people who signed up, so it will be an exciting reveal next Thursday We also have an event in honor of our beloved Carlos Hazday. The great thing about prompts is that that there's no limits on what you can do with them, unless it's specified in the prompt itself. My first multi-chapter novella was based off a prompt response. Good writing is good writing, whether it's a 1k flash piece or 30k novella. Although if Steve is approaching 20k, maybe I should have specified an upper limit for the PT Event Which reminds me, I need to check my PMs

We've set a record for latest first snowfall, and we're still waiting for those first flakes of the season Looks like December may be finally ushering in the s-word. With the lake at record high temperatures, we're probably looking at getting the whole season's worth at once. Steve deserves this for posting the video to that song

I almost went with "When You Wish Upon a Star" as the title, but decided to with Bad Company's since that was stuck in my head.

I was reading something this week and it mentioned shooting stars, so that stuck in my brain as a good idea for some prompts. Of course, I can't remember for the life of me what the heck I was reading And I've had Bad Company's Shooting Star playing in my head ever since as well. So let's shoot for the stars and see what we come up with. After a bit of a sing-along, of course PT Prompt #251 You've had a week from hell and on the drive home from work, you see a shooting star and instantly make a wish. What was the wish and did it come true? PT Prompt #252 Astronomers discover that there's a meteor shower on a collision course with Earth. It's an endgame event they say will destroy all life on the planet. It's due to arrive in one week. What do you do for that week and what happens when the meteor shower arrives? Please include the prompt number either in your story/chapter description or title to help readers who would like to search for specific prompts. The Prompt Team event is in full swing, and judging from the response we got, there will be a lot of stories to read in December! Like it or not, the New Year is fast approaching, which means so is the first writing event of 2025. It's hard to believe this will be our second writing event in honor of our dear friend Carlos Hazday. For newer members to the site, Carlos was a fixture of the GA community. He welcomed and mentored new members and authors, was a great advocate of and participant in our annual anthology, and never failed to give his honest opinion. He has been sorely missed since his passing. Carlos had a tradition of posting something new for his readers on January first, so we will keep that tradition going with another writing event in his honor. Auld Lang Syne - In honor of Carlos Hazday Let's raise a glass to our beloved Carlos! Auld lang syne, my friend! 🍾 Anyone is welcome to contribute a story, letter, poem, or whatnot on a topic that resonates with them with respect to Carlos, be it bikes, tattoos, Florida, politics, writing, or something else. The rules are simple: No minimum length One submission per author, containing one chapter, or one prologue plus one chapter. The usual GA content guidelines do apply.
