Better late than never! Thanks for the lovely comments. There's only been one follow-up so far, and that is A Very Wyvern Christmas in Our Christmas Cookbook. It's funny timing, because I've recently started working again on the novel I started a few years ago in this universe. I have a prologue and three chapters written, which are undergoing revision, and then I plan on working on more chapters. I won't start posting till it's completed though.

It's not an issue if you want to write multiple stories. We don't limit the number of submissions for the anthology. I'm not the only one who has written multiples. I think @Bill W has written three or four for past anthologies. Writing ten 1k shorts would be a bit excessive, but writing three or four quality stories to include is definitely not a problem.

This is a perfect example of having a tangential link to the theme. It doesn't have to hit us over the head. One of the subjects I have planned for this year's blog is writing to a theme that doesn't "speak" to you.

I think my record is four stories for one anthology. We used to do four anthologies per year. I think if we still did that, that would kill me

I really liked that camaraderie too. I admit to being lax in posting the threads last year. I will plan on creating them this weekend and will be sure to check in regularly. Let's get the discussion started!

We've done multiple themes in the past in an effort to draw more participants into writing for the anthology. I would say we had mixed results. I did a poll a few years ago and the overwhelming majority voted for one theme. Good anthology themes should be open to multiple interpretations and multiple genres. Your example of a suspense thriller is perfect. Creature Feature on its surface screams horror, but it also fits just about any other genre as well. One of my plans for the blog this year is to feature articles on writing for different genres, so your comment fits perfectly into my plans. I feel like I want a devil emoji here, but they're not evil plans

I'm glad that people who choose to remain single and/or are Ace are becoming more accepted and understood in society, although I think there's still a long way to go. I'm happy this story was able to give a better understanding. Thanks for reading and commenting!

2025 Anthology - Creature Feature - Guidelines

You can submit up to four chapters, but it's much easier on us if you submit it as one chapter (plus prologue). You're good with your chapters as long as you don't mess with the dates- 26 comments
