Chapter One: The Boy The first snow came late that year, and it came mean. Przemysław—Shem to everyone who mattered, “Boy!” to the man who raised him—stood at the edge of the practice yard and watched the white flakes spiral down like ash from a cold fire. They landed on his shoulders, on the leather-wrapped hilt of his old longsword, on the dark auburn hair that fell in a central parting past his ears. His shearling coat was heavy and warm, lined with wool his mother—Radek’s l

Chapter Two: Little Stone The burned farm crested into view like a wound in the grey hillside. Shem pulled his horse up short. The others did the same, strung out behind him in a ragged line. The snow had stopped falling for the moment, but the sky hung low and heavy, promising more. The farmhouse was gone—just blackened timbers and a chimney standing alone against the clouds. The barn had fared better, half-collapsed but still upright, its thatched roof smoking in places. Bodie

In a world where "magic" is just fear and misunderstanding, Shem is the worst swordsman in the valley. When goblins raid a nearby farm, he rides out with a bar mace he doesn't know how to use, a feral child who bites first and speaks second, and a crush who keeps stealing his left glove. The monsters aren't what they seem. Neither is he.

    Chapter 30

Topher Lydon posted new chapter in Enthralled

30 The chaotic, adrenaline-fueled aftermath of the siege at the Aethelgard Omnicare facility had eventually burned itself down to a manageable, smoldering ember. Marcus Draven and the adult enforcers of the Oak Creek pack had remained behind to systematically scrub the site of any supernatural evidence, erase the security servers, and ensure that Esca Tyrell’s corporate mercenaries would never dare step foot in their territory again. Ronan had dutifully packed the twelve exhausted,

The basement smelled sharply of turpentine, dried acrylics, and something far darker that lingered in the damp, heavy concrete foundation of the Scarborough townhouse. Peter McCormick stood rigidly at his wooden easel, a frayed brush clutched tightly in his hand, staring blankly at the exact same canvas he had been entirely failing to paint for months. The bristles of the brush were loaded with a thick, oceanic blue, but they hadn't touched the canvas in twenty minutes. His empathic circui

Act 2 The morning after the incident in the archive library, the atmosphere at St. Jude’s College had fundamentally shifted. Felix awoke in his rigidly structured dormitory room, the bleak morning light filtering through the narrow, gothic windowpanes, and immediately sensed that the established order of his universe had been irreversibly compromised. The cold stone floors seemed to radiate a new, sinister energy, and the damp, woollen smell of his uniform hanging perfectly on its valet sta

The dining hall at St. Jude’s College did not inspire intellectual greatness; it inspired a deep, lingering sense of atmospheric dread. Built in the late nineteenth century by an architect who seemingly harbored a violent grudge against natural light, the hall was a cavernous expanse of damp, gray stone, vaulted ceilings that trapped the smell of boiled cabbage, and long oak tables deeply scarred by generations of miserable students. It was less an institution of higher learning and more a gothi

Felix has a system. Ryder is a system error. When a missing student and a slice of stolen treacle tart turn Felix into the school's most feared warlock, Ryder decides he's running a scam—and he's going to prove it. But the more Ryder follows him, the more Felix's rigid world unravels. Dark Academia has never been this ridiculous, and falling in love has never been this chaotic. A gay rom-com about luck, lies, and the absolute disaster of being seen.

the little monster is his father's son. It's intriguing for me to look at what makes an evil like Tarquin. I will explore him further in a future book, just have to get the feel and shape of it first.

I recommend Echo, if you want to get into what brought Andy and Will to where they are, and explain how Andrew got involved with CSIS. War and Fortress are good, but very light on Andrew and more Will Centric. Recourse, however, is the one where Will and Andrew finally sort their nonsense out. If you want to jump to something more Andrew centric, Carter's Breach is a lot of fun. A more traditional Spy novel, plus Jacob Carter as the terror of Canada House, driving his Dad and Pa nuts. Breach is designed as a more stand alone novel. set in 2015.
