There's some rougher moments. Aiden was neglected prior to his self-adoption. But it is not his mother's fault, she's just... crippled by grief. and Axl is right there to help because that's what Axl does. Marshall is sweet, PAINFULLY shy with anyone not of his own family. But Between Aiden, Axl and now Ollie, he's cracked open to be bright and loving kid.. As for Axl and Ollie, you asked, and you received my friend one happilly ever after inbound, with lots of AWWWW piled on for good measure. Orel has wished it, it shall be so. He's a powerful little mage.

Now I am going to be asked, "Why not use the blockhouse?" The answer is the machine gun. The Blockhouse is one of two fall back positions I will use, I will, however, be focusing on the hotel just visible behind the blockhouse (on the right of the image) The Machine gun would be next to useless in a blockhouse not designed for it's use. And they need to control the bridge to control that many men.

I toyed with the idea of an artillary feature... but it would have been short, devastatingly so. So I decided best not bring out the big guns. It would be a couple of barrages, and the whole thing would be a mess. Besides the Fenians need the bridge intact... Crossing a canal in winter is not as fun as it sounds, especially with cavalry.

I love that name. Great last name. Alistair Taine in this case, or Charlie Hartley depending on if you mean the soul or the body. :: grins evilly :: Going to enjoy a bit of Supernatural Thriller for a change of pace. Torn on the title, Rate of Exchange or Terms of the Deal. Faustian fun.

I don't know... the Fenian Raiders were brutal. While their cause, a free and self-governing Ireland, was just. The fantatcism, the Catholic purging, and the radical way they destroyed innocent communities in the pursuit of this leaves me shivering. They were not... kind to protestants, nor to those that were different in the way that the Harding's, Bobby, Timmy, or Henry and Cam were. However, Henry's fussing over Cam was a nice note. He's found his person, and all he wants to do is keep him safe.

Poor Orel meets his match in the OCD enthusiasm of one Aiden Slater. I can see the baby sitting potential now. Orel: Please don't put labels on my... head. Aiden: Need to ensure everyone knows you're the babysitter. Orel not knowing what to do. if he's allowed to take said label off or if he's stuck with it for the forseeable future. Orel: While I appreciate the application of labels, and the structure it provides... labelling my husband "Dork-Sitter in charge" is a misnomer, as he is neither a Dork, nor is he, objectively in charge. Finn: Oh Orel, I'm always in charge.

Chapter 6: The Weight Friday. Eight PM. The guest house. Axl had planned everything. Shower at six. Hair actually styled, not just pushed around. The uniform—Orel's uniform, his uniform, whatever—freshly pressed and folded. A stop at Domino's for the pizza, extra sausage, no mushrooms, because Orel's instructions had been *extremely specific* about him using the trigger phrase again. He'd even practiced his smile in the mirror. Not the eyebrow-waggling chaos grin

It's interesting to think of the technology that's brought to bear then. In thirty years WWI will erupt. The Children of these men and women will be fighting in trenches holding the line in France, machine guns, rifles and industrialized war. This battle sits in that time of change. The time when the HMS Dreadnought touched water, the era of the Maxim gun, and factories spewing black into the sky at the end of the Victorian era that saw the steady, inexorable march to war.

Bobby is a tested hero, proven in battle. the biggest mistake they make is testing his mettle. He may hold a soft spot for a certain fluffy telegraph boy, but he is far from soft himself. He stood with Elias at the sheriff's office in Silver Creek when they were attacked, he led the posse that pursued Cobb into the canyon, he stood at the mine when all was lost, and when Rourke came for Silver Creek itself, he was right by Theo's side keeping the Pinkerton's at bay. Deputy Grady, big ears in a bowler hat he took off of a rogue Pinkerton Agent, defending his Timmy then, like he's doing now.
