  1. Wow...I have to admit, I haven't added on to "MOTW" for a long time! And looking at my last post, it's been WAY too long! I started the next chapter a LONG LONG time ago, but I haven't been giving it the attention it needs. Thanks for the reminder dude. I'll definitely add that to my curret to do list. But yes...there's more coming. For certain.
  2. Will it continue? Most DEFINITELY! I wouldn't have the heart to just leave it where it was. The new chapter is almost finished, and as soon as the recent updates are finished, the 'high school' stories will return with a vengeance. Including "Class", "New Kid", "Escape", Outside", Picture", "Jesse-101", and many more! Some have been waiting since the spring to be completed and posted. I've just been....a jerk about releasing them. Hehehe! I'm a harsh self critic, that's all. Especially if the last chapter didn't do that well. But I'm hard at work on the new stuff! Promise! Cool?
  3. Hehehe, I don't usually 'name names'.... But the most 'recent' occurrence was this one on Nifty... "Pretty Monsters" http://www.nifty.org/nifty/gay/highschool/pretty-monsters/pretty-monsters-1.pdf And this is my story, "Pretty Poison" http://comicality.gayauthors.org/pretty/pretty1.php Hehehe, could be a coincidence, right?
  4. It's always been hard for me to say whether I really 'believe' or not. Mostly because that 'what if' question always sticks with me. It's a bit of a fascination with me, I suppose. I'm writing the first chapter of a new story called "Agenda 21" for New Years Day, that I want to really spark some qestions, and combine the ideas of both a Biblical AND a man made apocalypse at once. With a few struggling survivors trying to figure out which is which, while trying to make it through the harsh times ahead of them. So wish me luck on pulling that one off. Hehehe! What is life without a challenge? Right?
  5. I'm definitely loving the 'near climax' and drop method! Yes, very effective indeed. Sometimes that sudden crash and burn can really give the plot a real 'no holds barred' appeal, and it ads a sense of danger in the main characters expected 'happily ever after' outcome. Good point!
  6. SO very happy that you guys are still enjoying "Savage Moon", despite the delays! (The next section is waiting for the "GFD: Crossroads" first chapter to be completed. If you haven't seen the preview I posted on the Library, it's the very first time I'm crossing the "GFD" vampire kind storyline with the "Savage Moon" werewolves. It's a totaly new story, with new characters and all, I just want it to live up to expectations. You know me and my 'weirdness') Plus I'm excited about the "Savage Moon: Lone Wolf" chapter, which is planned out, but I haven't written word one on it yet. THAT chapter is what a lot of folks have been waiting for! Hehehe, me included! So don't worry, I'll make it worth the wait. Promise. :: Nods ::
  7. You know Nephylim...I think your idea for a vampire story would be really unique! I'd definitely be interested in reading that. It would be a whole different take on vampires in general. And how thrilling would it be to make them human with a particular lifestyle? Could be downright frightening if you decided to put that kind of twist on it. Hehehe! Don't worry Jonathan! LOL! It's already too much for you to put into your project! :: Giggles :: But it will be sweet to see you try to fit it all together! (Haven't read anything yet. Sorry, been crazy busy lately) And did you say soundtrack? Nice! Thanks Tiger! Much more to come! Believe me! More this Sunday!
  8. The "Gone From Daylight" vampire spin-off stories keep coming! And there are many more on the way! Expect an increase in how many postings you get a week too! 13. Hahaha! A bunch of stories started and none of them finished? It sounds like you're writing the way I do ALREADY! :: Giggles :: Just keep writing what you feel when you feel it. It'll come out perfect everytime. There's no rush, not when the payoff is worth it. Life gets in the way more times than not, that's why I just stopped 'sleeping'. Now....as for Neph, hehehe! THAT, my lady, sounds like a story in itself! When can we expect it?
  14. I just wanted to let you guys know that I didn't go anywhere. Still lurking around between writing spells and all that jazz. I've recently been finishing up a lot of extra work for the many stories scheduled for the "Red October" updates. All "GFD" related story spinoffs going in many different directions, and expanding the "Gone From Daylight" vampire mythology to whole new level. So I hope you guys enjoy them, starting tomorrow! That's my chosen 'experiment' for the next few weeks, so wish me luck! Cafe topics and all will start again next Monday. Just wanted to get things in order as much as possible. (Not that I won't get itchy and want to change things last minute anyway, hehehe!) Take care, and I'll seezya soon! ((Hugz))
  15. ((Hugz)) Thanks so much, dude! I can't wait until you guys see what I've got in store for the next few chapters! Hehehe!
  16. That's alright. I'm sure it won't be for everyone. Like I said, it's probably the darkest thing I've ever written, but I look forward to seeing how it turns out and how it goes over. After all, it took me FOREVER to get a lot of people to give "Gone From Daylight" a try too. About a month or so ago, when I was planning and writing down notes for "Agenda 21", I asked on this board and on the Shack forum if anyone believed in the concept of an actual 'apocalypse'. And through posts, emails, and in the chatroom...a vast majority said no. Some because they believe it's just a made up piece of folklore, some just couldn't imagine it really, some think that to be only a religious concept...whatever the case, most said no. So I wanted to write a story that was placed during a 'real' and 'believable' apocalypse scenario. It's meant to be a 'what if' story that makes people rethink their concepts of what's possible. That's all. Bringing a frightening reality to something that most people never think about. Overall, it will be a love story, just like the others on the site. It won't end up being some militant political rant on government or anything of the sort. The apocalyptic visions of the future are only the 'setting' where the story takes place. It explains what happened and why. Butt he story itself will be mostly about Noah and his love for Jordan, and how joy, love, and spirit, can survive even in the darkest of times. So when it's finished, I definitely want it to have a major impact in a sometimes scary way, but I also...it's a Comicality story. And it'll be about love and what really matters in the end. Ps- I'm glad you like "Dream Lover" too! Thanks! I'll be adding more in November!
  17. Understandable, believe me! Hehehe, I have to admit that I have trouble writing women realistically sometimes, and I always end up making them tomboys or something similar. I also have a hard time writing caring father figures (Because I didn't have one). So that's all fiction to me. Also, I've got to admit to REALLY loving dark stuff myself. I enjoy pushing the envelope in that regard. I was experimenting a lot with it in "Savage Moon", Neph...but I think the NEWEST story I'm writing, "Agenda 21", to be posted on New Years Day...is, quite possibly, one of the DARKEST stories I've ever written. So I look forward to seeing how folks will react to it. I posted a few teasers on my library, if you wanna check them out. http://www.voy.com/17262/12846.html http://www.voy.com/17262/12961.html http://www.voy.com/17262/12962.html
  18. I've asked this question before on another board, but I always wanna know what people think about it. Because I've always been fascinated by the idea of it. After all, what better sci fi/fantasy story could you POSSIBLY tell than the one involving the 'end of the world'? The ultimate end game. It's probably the most difficult thing to imagine as a reality, but the concept itself is amazing. The question is...do you believe in the idea of the apocalypse? And I don't just mean nuclear war, or global warming, or a meteor from space....but an actual, 'Biblical' apoalypse? Despite all of the concrete realities that we depend on and KNOW to be true...do you ever stop and ask yourself, 'what if?' I'm always curious! So let us know what you think! Even atheists have gotta question 'something'! Hehehe!
  19. Hehehe, don't you folks start whispering now! That's between me and him and the man in the moon! (Makes me wonder...) Exactly what 'problem' do you guys think I had that Mark could so easily 'fix' for me? ::winks::
  20. Just wanted to say thanks for the message! Hehehe! ::Chicago Mafia Whisper:: You know...for that 'thing' you said about that 'thing' last week. Not THAT 'thing', but the OTHER 'thing'. You understand what I'm talking 'bout? Hehehe, and it's fixed! Very true, fair is fair! ::Giggles::
  21. Just wanted to sa that I had an AWESOME time talking to everybody! And I hope to do it again some time soon! ((Hugz)) Love ya lots! And I'll seezya soon!
  22. Just letting everyone know that I've got some time off today! So I'm going to the Comicality IRC chat today to have some fun and talk to everybody from the site! <p> The last time I did this, it was at 10PM my time, which was fine for folks here in the States...but crap for all of you guys overseas! So this time, I'm having it at 3 PM instead! So hopefully it'll be better for you guys to come in and join us for a few laughs! Hehehe, because he's aweomse! And he's gay. And REALLY cute! And English! Hehehe! So yeah....he's openly offered to support the Shack however he can! It is our pleasure to give him that same respect in return. ((Hugz)) Thanks Alex! We're always watching dude! Love ya lots, man!.<p> Gotta go to sleep now! But keep your ees open. Ok? Seezya soon!
  23. Okay! So, the last time I went to the chat was GREAT for the folks here in the States with me! Hehehe, but NOT so great for you guys overseas, who live perpetually in the 'future'! <p> Dun dun dun!!!!<p> SO...I'm trying to be a bit more 'global friendly' this time around! And I'm going to the Comicality IRC chat at 3:00 - 3:30 PM my time here in Chicago! Which I hope will make things a bit easier on you guys from across the big pond! Cause I'd LOVE to talk to you too! <p> So there you have it! I'm gonna show my ugly mug in the chatroom later on this afternoon (Friday, Aug 21), and will come in for a few laughs and the like. Hope to see ya there!<p> Ps- I know thatfor the Shack fans in Australia, this is STILL, like...5 AM your time! So...email me and let me know what time is best for you, and I'll try to make a third chat time specifically for you guys too! K? Don't worry....I'll work my way around eventually! Hehehe! <p> Lie well! And I'll seezya soon! ((hugz))
  24. Good points all around. Believe me, I'm taking notes. Especially because the next chapter of "Skylight" that I'm writing is taking forever to get it 'right'. It was a story that definitely needed to be told in 3rd person, because it involved a lot of different characters, a lot of different relationships, and everyone involved had to be separated from one another for long periods of time. So it would have been confusing to keep changing 1st person perspectives for that one. But I like it. And I, too, have some difficulty keeping conversations straight in 3rd person, without constantly saying the character's name over and over and OVER again. Hehehe, I always worry that I'm doing it too much, and try to change it up. But I can't. It kinda needs to be said. 2nd person is really...'different', but I wanted to try it a few times just to do something different. I did a story called "One Night, Why Not?" about a college boy going to a gay bar/club for the first time and finding himself someone special. I think it was really fun. I got to really bring the reader in by describing the whole experience to them directly. It's not something I would do often, but for the occasional break from the 'norm', it's a fun exercise. I'm trying a new story now with 3rd person, and I'm putting it in print, so I hope it goes over well. But for a lot of my online stuff, 1st person is still my favorite.
  25. Hehehe, I think that says it all, dude! The big key is understanding that a story should have an arc. I think that's the best wa to put it. Now, I've got a lot of rose colored memories of being a teenager myself (And I know I get bitched at sometimes for the 'angst' factor in most of the stuff that I write), but I've read so many stories where the clothes are coming off by the fifth pararaph. And I just don't remember it being that easy. FUN....maybe! Hehehe! But not easy. I've never had a boy that I liked over to my house and just said, 'I love you' on the first visit...and then just have him be like, 'Love you too, let's get naked and fool around'. I think I DREAMED it a few times...but it never happened. I think another way to make a successful arc is to take time and figure out the beginning and ending of your story or series. As well as have an idea of certain vents that happen in between. I knew how all of my stories were going to end before I started writing them out. So the only real challenge is geting from point A to point B in an interesting and satisfying way. It helps to know where you're going with the story you're trying to tell. I know that some people thinks that it restricts their creativity, but it really doesn't. What happens between beginning and en of any story is entirely up to you. Knowing what the end will ultimately be is just a focus to keep you on track. Take some time, build excitement...and the 'payoff' will be so much more rewarding. And then, when you reach the height of your story, don't just stop it there...give the characters some 'cuddle time' afterwards. Hehehe, but not TOO much! ::Rememberes the end of "Return Of The King":: I think a story, no matter how short or how long, should feel like a triumph when it's over. Like the readers have accomplished something by taking the jouney you've laid out for them. It's something that I've always enjoyed when I was growing up, and I love to try to have the same effect.
