With no passengers, and just 5 crew plus Mum and I, we were looking forward to this trip down the coast. The crew had enjoyed their three days on Christmas Island and were a lot more relaxed, and we planned to spend just a few hours looking around each of the small towns that we call into on the way down the coast. The Captain asked me if I wanted to learn more about sailing the yacht, and I eagerly accepted the challenge, and so apart from manning the helm, I spent the next week learning

“Follow me, and I will show you,” Hugh said as he led us all through the corridor and into a wide-open courtyard, that overlooks the harbour, and there in front of us was the schooner, Eldorado. Curtis didn’t know what to say as he stood there to look at the yacht, which was just as we remembered it 4 weeks ago, and standing on the deck were the five crew members who had chosen to remain on the Eldorado. “Hello, Captain, Chef and crew,” I said as we approached the yacht. “Welcome ba

When we arrived at our hotel, which was in the countryside, Mum gave the driver an extra £50 for a tip and thanked the driver for his assistance. Located on a smaller highway, about 5 kilometres out of Slough, the hotel is located on a huge area of landscaped gardens and light woods. Mum had chosen well, with finding a retreat for us to relax after what we had all been through, and we spent an hour exploring the huge grounds outside, before coming inside as it became quite cool. Mum stated

For the next ten minutes, there was a lot of shouting going on between the skipper and the two border patrol officers until we heard sirens approaching, and before long there was nearly a dozen police cars, plus some unmarked cars, making the wharf area very crowded. Whispering, the skipper ordered everyone to raise their hands so they are in clear view of everyone, on the wharf, and not to make any sudden moves. When the two border patrol officers were finally ordered to put their guns away

Once we had set out our sleeping bags, pillows, and put away our luggage, Kristof began to show us around the rest of the ship, starting with the lower decks first. When we returned to the main deck, we saw another crew member talking to some other trainees. “Alrik, this is my first two team members, Matias and Curtis from Australia, lads, this is the senior Bosun, Alrik” Kristof said, as we approached the man, who looked a lot younger than Kristof, and I heard Kristof chuckle, “Yes he is

When we stepped out of the Airport terminal in Oslo, it was quite cold, but the sun was out, not that it made any difference with the temperature, and we caught a train into the city, to get to our hotel, as the airport is 50 kilometres to the North East of the city, then a taxi to the hotel, which is a good 2 kilometres from the main train station. Mum was booked into her own suite, while Curtis and I shared an adjoining suite, and once we had settled in, we all went for a walk to explore

After many years of University and Army training, 21-year-old Struan Kenrick is given two weeks leave before being transferred to a new position in Darwin. On arrival at the airport close to the family properties, Struan learns from his oldest brother, Euan, that their youngest brother Sawney is being ostracised by their grandparents, making him isolated and depressed. Determined to improve the situation for his baby brother, Struan organised for Sawney and him to go on a short holiday, firstly on the Indian Pacific train, and then a stay on Rottnest Island, but things take a dramatic change once on the train.

“Hi Mum, how was your day, and how come you are home early?” I asked when I entered our modest two-bedroom house, in the outer eastern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. “Good dear, now take a seat, because I have something that you need to know, and I cannot delay this any longer,” my Mum responded, as she took a sip of her tea at the dining table. “Ok! So what is all this about Mum, you have never sat me down at the table to talk, this must be serious,” I said as I sat down and the

Coming home from school one day, 17-year-old Matias Madsen is asked to take a seat, as his Mum has some important news... What he learnt that afternoon, changed his life completely around, and a few days later, he and his mother were on a flight bound for Norway, a very unexpected journey, that would change his life forever.

Chapter 8 I shook their hands and indicated for them to load up their luggage, and to get in. “How far is it to the homestead?” James asked before yawning loudly, “Oh just 450…”, “What, 450 kilometres?” Linda said interrupting me in a raised and shocked voice, and I just laughed. “If you let me finish, the homestead is 450 metres away, so nice and nearby,” I said, “Oh, sorry” I heard Linda say softly, as I turned the vehicle around and drove slowly down the driveway, so as to not wake up

Chapter 7 The next morning, I was up just after dawn, and after giving Bonnie some feed, and giving her a brush, I saddled her up, and with just a small amount of water and the radio in my backpack, we headed off on a short ride, this time, just down the driveway and alongside the airstrip and back, were I knew it was flat and free of any rocks or holes. When I arrived back at the north end of the airfield, one of the station vehicles was parked to one side, and Lance was leaning aga

Does’t anyone who read this story, want to write a review? I would be interested in receiving some feed back on this second story of my sci fi story.
