  1. A couple of readers said they got the warm fuzzies, and that was my goal with this chapter. We needed that as much as they did. Thanks, my friend.
  2. Thanks, Albert! I was so engrossed in this once again. Sorry for taking so long to respond but my eyes are watery because of my cold, and I've still got more chores to do. I'm rereading every chapter along with you, so please bear with me. It really was a powerful chapter, and a huge turning point for these mates.
  3. Whoa! That was intense. It still gets to me every time. Introducing hunters was something I looked forward to, but I knew the best way was going to be cruel. We get to see how insane hunters of shifters can be, and that was necessary. Tobyn has been a frustrating, complicated character, but he is also strong, determined and fierce. He showed that here, and though it upset him to kill, he never balked at doing what was needed. The poison was another level of cruelty the hunter had... he has learned not to take chances, yet he was beaten because he came across an earth mate defending his mate. It was justice that a man who killed hundreds of shifters through sneak attacks, should die by one. It's funny how shaken this chapter left me. Thanks, buddy.
  4. I know right? Absolutely gut-wrenching for me, as the writer and as a reader. You're right... it is the most important chapter, up to this point at least, and what makes it even sadder is that Kellar did what Tobyn had hoped for... he solved the mystery of the malaise and yet there is no celebration, only heartache. The fact this all played out in front of the entire pack made it all the more hurtful. That said, I'm proud of this chapter and for reaching this point in the story without screwing it up. Thanks, Albert.
  5. Yeah, happy in one way, but very sad in an other. Kellar finally gets the confirmation he was looking for, yet Tobyn's reaction was not what he was expecting, and it has him reeling. It's a hard position to be in, but he found an earth mate for Elinor, and a mechanic for the pack. It should have been a great day. Lol. Earth mother at work. And yes, I think it shook Tobyn to realize he was wrong about earth mates being a thing of the past. Thanks for this, my friend.
  6. This chapter gives me some peace, even though they are on different pages. Maybe that will change... I like your prayer to the earth mother.
  7. I call this the one day at a time chapter. Kellar gives in a bit as he realizes how harsh the effects of the malaise are. He understands his friend a little better now, and the weight he carries on his young shoulders. I loved writing the kids. Bertram especially. It remains to be seen what the conversation with Tilly was about. This is fun, isn't it?
  8. I got really caught up in this chapter just now, and even did some editing of commas. Both men are struggling, neither having experienced anything like this before, and I get the frustration. Can the earth mother steer their course? Hmmm. Thanks, buddy.
  9. Writing a mystery might be scary, but it's fun too. Yeah, old ladies seem to be my jam. I adore Miss Sybil, so that helped in writing her. And yes, Kellar got some very important insight during this little visit. Thanks for your enthusiastic comment, buddy.
  10. Hello, all you crazy bastards. Rainy day here, and my youngest's birthday. He's the big three-oh. Have a good one.
  11. Thanks, buddy. I've read a lot tonight, and my eyes need rest. I truly enjoy reading along with you again, my friend.
  12. Aww... thank you so much, Albert. I have to say this one makes me cry every time. I was worried about writing too much healing in the story, but it turns out that wasn't the case. This one was truly draining, for Kellar and for me, but it all worked out in the end. Speaking of ends, I loved writing that end for Kellar and Tobyn. They deserved to be close, at least for such a night as they'd experienced. Yeah, it was an Earth Mother blessing.
  13. Yeah, it does. My heart breaks for Kellar. As strong as he is, he can be easily hurt. He finally found someone, and it appears that person is not for him. Still, he has a job to do, and he will give it his all. Thanks, Albert, and cheers!
  14. Think of the responsibility Elinor has. She is definitely a force of nature, but she is warm and loving too. I think Kellar fell in love with her just a little bit. There was some tricky stuff in this chapter, but I really had fun writing it. I loved what you quoted, and how the chapter ended. Tilly!
  15. Lol. Bid wolves get hungry. Yeah, the conversation continues. Seems like Kellar has it really bad for Tobyn. That is a tough position to be in, especially since they are headed to the pack. The earth mother has her ways.... Thanks, buddy.
  16. Six reads is incredible! Thanks, Albert. Some things are best explained through dialogue, rather than loading readers down with a long narrative. It would seem both men are struggling with some issues, but it was rewarding for me to give Kellar a friend he could really talk to. Tobyn got some answers, but I wonder that he doesn't now have some more questions. And, the story has only just begun. Thanks, my friend.
  17. This chapter was both heartwrenching and heartwarming. I loved their play too, but when Tobyn talks about the malaise, it is just so sad. Still, it remains a favorite chapter of mine. Never underestimate the earth mother. Thanks, Albert.
  18. Lol. This was a fun chapter to write. Poor Tobyn doesn't know what is happening to him. Maybe the Earth Mother is behind this meeting... who's to say. Thanks for the kind words, Albert. You always make me feel good about my writing.
  19. Lol. Yeah, to a gay man, Kellar would seem a fantasy come to life, but Tobyn isn't gay, right? Love the photo. This was the chapter I was most eager to share with readers. It's where I get to lay some of the groundwork for the mystery. Reading this one took me back to that time. It was so much fun posting this story... I miss that. Thank you for bringing me back to those times, my friend.
  20. I think we can see that while Kellar is still Kellar, there is a new part of him he can't ignore. But you're right... he isn't a killer. I'm glad you liked the pee part. I must say I got great enjoyment from reducing Warren to a urine soaked wimp. He deserved it. There was so much satisfaction in this role reversal between the two foster brothers. Thanks, buddy. Glad you are eager even with another reread.
  21. Thanks, buddy. I got totally immersed in rereading this chapter, and could feel the same excitement I felt at the time of writing it. Kellar is right. He is a survivor, and he has no choice but to make the most of this new situation.
  22. Oh, cool! You're back to this. Warren was indeed lucky, wasn't he? Kellar didn't seem to know what was happening, so the damage could have been much worse. I loved writing that run... we didn't know if it was Kellar or the wolf who was making decisions, and that conflict was exciting for me. I wrote this chapter out of the blue, many months before it ever posted, and as scared as I was, it wouldn't let me quit. First chapters aren't just important for the reader... they are important for the writer as well, and this one had me hooked on telling a story. Thanks, buddy... glad to be going on this journey again. Cheers!
