Thanks, Chris! I love being brought back to my stories, and I just reread this in it's entirety. That empathy they shared is because they have had the same journey over the past year. I have found it easier to talk about my departed mom with people who have lost theirs, and I thought that would be the case for Paul and Woodrow. Grief is powerful... present even in animals... and the sharing of it can ease the process some. In this case, it surely did. Are they ready to start something new? I would say yes, to start, and if it takes more time so be it, but they can still build something special and lasting while they finish healing together.
I agree this story needs no continuation. Their sentimental journey found an unexpected destination, and now it is up to them to allow life to happen.
