It's hard for Damien to admit, but yes, he's realized just how much Kayden has grown--and if he thought about it, it's because of Damien's love that Kayden has been able to. Oliver needed someone for his own
"...are really sweet together," an unfamiliar voice said.
Damien barely opened an eye to see Brenner walking toward him. He rolled slightly to see Saladin checking packs by the very low firelight with several other hybrids helping him.
"They are," Saladin responded, and Damien noticed that they were glancing at him.
"They're almost ready to go," Brenner said, stepping closer to the duke.
He nodding, moving to wake Kayden, but noticed that those green eyes were staring bac
They had reached the path that wound through the forest at a slower incline. Saladin finally set Kayden down on his feet, while he checked for signs of the mini army's passage. The grass remained untrampled and the brush crowded the path untouched.
"They haven't gotten this far," Saladin said, then he turned, his ears twitching as if listening to the wind. "They are getting closer though. I can just hear them."
"We'll wait for them here then," Damien stated, stepping closer to Kay
hehe, yeah, Damien probably would have rushed into danger to protect Kayden without thinking too clearly. There's a couple chapters of down time coming before heading into the fray at the mines...
Kayden leaned against Damien's chest while he regained some energy, soaking in the heat from the bigger man. He couldn't help trying to burrow into the man's chest. He'd been so cold, and his muscles were so tired, he was nearly numb. He melted against his master, breathing in the faint scent of sandalwood, mixed with sweat and dirt. He didn't allow himself to think about the terror of the previous night, nor the fact that he h
Kayden watched Theo rip back the tent of one of the other hunters. He clutched the tree, trying to bury himself inside of it for fear of them finding him. He knew if they found him, they would shoot him out of the tree.
"Get your ass up!" Theo roared. "You're supposed to be on watch! What the hell happened?"
The bleary-eyed hunter shot up, wide-eyed and fearful at the other man's rage. Ehern was stumbling out of his tent.
His eyes quickly noticed the missing slaves, and his f
I think you'll like the next chapter. It goes back to Kayden's POV. Had to get Damien's POV in there since things are happening simultaneously. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing.
Hehe, I could but then you'd have to wait two days for the next one (since I can only post once per day/ 7 per week). And then you'd have another cliffhanger waiting! So glad you are enjoying it. I won't keep you waiting long! Thank you.
Yes, I think Damien knows he needs to focus on getting to Kayden before he breaks down too much. Nash is definitely feeling the guilt of not being able to protect Kayden. Thanks so much for reading and reviewing!
