I really like the background stuff. I live in Northern VA so a lot of what you are talking about is very familiar to me. I like how CJ and his dads are melding together. Still can't believe his mom and that stepdad of his would throw him out like that.... Thanks for writing such a great story.
Love the acronym--DIC... so funny. I finally remembered to go put my likes in (I was out of them the night I read most of the story--sorry). Glad to see Barry will be getting help from the therapist. Hopefully they will now have a chance to settle down and focus on their relationship. Keep up the good work!
hehe, I guess you know me too well now There's got to be a little drama (okay, a lot of drama), but I rarely leave a story without a HEA...eventually. Glad you are enjoying the drama!
Oh, it is definitely MOSTLY Damien's fault, and Kayden's only really in the fact of lying about the bruise to keep his secret of learning to fight instead of talking to Damien about it. The small lie triggered more in Damien's head than Kayden could ever realize. And you're absolutely right that Kayden doesn't see he's done anything wrong with Finn. The only 'wrong' he sees is the learning to fight because he knows Damien wouldn't approve because he might get hurt. Thanks so much for sticking up for Kayden! I didn't mean to imply they were equally at fault; they most definitely aren't, and I agree with sammiam that Damien isn't 100% at fault and he should have known better than to have this argument in public as well as they both (especially Damien) need to communicate better. Thank you so very much for reading and reviewing!
Yes, it is finally out, and yes, bad things have happened in the woods... And there is actually two guards still with Kayden, Nash and one other one. (Nash and 2 other men took off after him, one came back to report to Damien). It's kind of a 'if anything can go wrong, it will' kind of story right now.
You're definitely right. Damien is definitely not the only one to blame here. They both made mistakes and didn't communicate like they should, and this is a rough way to learn that lesson. Very astute observations! Thanks so much for reading and reviewing.
Damien rode the group hard wanting to make as much progress towards the western mountains as possible. They stopped briefly in the mid-afternoon to eat and water the horses at the river snaking through the edges of the mountains. It gave the men some time to stretch and grab something to drink for a bit. They would be following the river for the rest of the night and crossing it sometime tomorrow.
As they stopped, Kayden waited for Finn to slide off Bella before he leapt down. Finn lea
Hehe, very true! With a companion for Azule, they could then have little babies running around! Glad you are enjoying the story! thanks for reading and reviewing.
hehe, yes, and we know how much Kayden hates boots. Of course, Damien misunderstood what Kayden meant by that, since Kayden didn't say MY boots, Damien assumed that Kayden was talking about helping to pack DAMIEN's boots. So he doesn't realize yet that Kayden thinks he's going--which of course, will make for an interesting morning.
Kayden awoke nearly smothered under his master's body. But he welcomed the weight and heat of the man. He had missed Damien yesterday, but he had known to stay out of the way. When Ellis informed him what was happening, Kayden had quickly sought out his master. But Damien had been so busy with Brenner and Harrison that he hadn't wanted to distract him. Knowing how foul his mood had been in the morning, Kayden hadn't wanted to risk upsetting Damien further. Instead, he had made his way to t
