YIKES! Even if the basis of Rob's fears are irrational, Jerome's emotional response was just as irrational--despite his efforts to maintain control. But isn't that the way most fights are? Irrational based on groundless fears? Looking forward to the next chapter. You did a great job conveying the emotional fraility that Jerome has, and the pressure Rob had on the sale of his company. NEXT!

Fun chapter! Nice to see the relationship building with Owen and CJ--and it was great to watch CJ take Dawson to the mat verbally. His obvious disdain for Owen's ex as clear. CJ's fiesty "take no prisoners" approach to life come through loudly. And like everyone else here, loved the Tyson Hill references. Another great job--so glad I'm with this story!

Nicely done chapter. Jack is obviously used to "doing his own thing", and the concept of having some kind of enforced discipline is foreign. Plus, with the introduction of Luke, the laid-back one, Jack is gonna hafta deal with his "bad boy" self image. (And it's kinda fun that he's already noticing details about Luke's eyes/hair/general personality that show his interest--despite whatever protests he'd otherwise give about noticing him.) Great job in moving the story along and building some tension between the characters, both parents and Luke, as well as showing his role with classmates. Really looking forward to the next chapter!

So glad you're falling, at least for the story, Defiance! It WAS a painful flashback, and scare that those dreams were intense enough that the question of PTSD came into play. Clayton and Ryan are just like the rest of us--carrying our baggage, dealing with our own insecurities--but putting up a solid face up front, all the while hoping there'll be one (or if we're lucky, two) that we can really share ourselves with, "warts and all". Glad you're following along ... and thanks for the kind words!

Damn, Onim, you're making me blush. So very happy you're enjoying the tale so far. Ryan and Clayton are (I hope) more finely nuanced characters than I've written before, with all sorts of subtleties that will come to play as the story moves on. I appreciate your kind words and following the story's direction--THANK YOU!
-
Glad you're enjoying the story, Parker. Some of the previous characters will appear throughout the story--although, obviously, this is Clayton and Ryan's story. Thanks for reading--and you'll see the story continue to build. Glad you left comments!

Thanks for the comments, Skinny, about the story. I'm sure you'll see more of Ryan's dreams later as he continues to work through the loss of his legs. And you're right--it HAS been a whirlwind of a relationship at this point. But, I'm a great believer in the concept that when it's right, you know it; apparently both these guys recognizes that something good--and big--is underway. The shooting stars emphasized that luck and timing are both at work here. Thanks for following the story, and your comments. I appreciate 'em!

Daddy, I think Clayton is every bit as much surprised as any of us by his quietly aggressive approach to Ryan. Although it was a lucky happenstance that he got into the nice restaurant, his own insecurities about whether Ryan would follow through on the date were clear--so let's hope he'll deal with those insecurities sooner rather than later! Thanks for the comments!
-
It WAS a helluva date, wasn't it, Mike? I could go for something like that myself! Thanks for following along!

Glad you liked the Ryan's dream description, Cole! It's amazing how the mind works through such deeply embedded trauma. Even more terrifying is that the dreams he's had were serious enough that issue of PTSD was raised earlier--and that he's now more comfortable with such dreams. Plus, he's apparently used to the idea that his mind continues to block but slowly reveal more and more of the actual event. Thanks for your positive comments--high praise from one of my favorite writer-gods! I appreciate your input!

Thanks Zenith! They're both interesting guys--with each having their own nuances. I appreciate your reading! (And enjoying your "Window Washer" story, too!

Jesus Was an Only Son
Robert Rex commented on Carlos Hazday's story chapter in Jesus Was an Only Son
Loving the way you're developing the relationship between CJ and Owen...solid friendship, but flirty and casual play. I suspect there's major potential for it to develop into a full blown relationship--but where would that leave CJ when time comes to leave OZ? He's certainly old enough for a first love, I don't know if that's Owen or not. Regardless of my speculation, you've done a solid job with the story here! Can't wait for more! -
A serpent rises from the right, cutting through the flames engulfing the front of the Humvee, wrapping around the fender and striking through the windshield. It's a two-stage pipe bomb, with the first stage blowing up beneath the armored floor plates, then the second stage exploding on the end of the pipe. It bends the pipe as it curls through the windshield, exploding into shrapnel as I watch the dash collapse on my legs. I'm trapped, can't move, my hand feels something hard and metallic in m

The speed of the developing relationship shows that when you meet the right one, you know it! Fun story, and really liking the characters. Good job!

"In and Out" is a light comedy piece with Kevin Klein, who realizes he's gay in mid-life. And it's kind of fun to watch him and Tom Selleck kiss. Nice list of supporting actors, too, with Joan Cussack, Matt Dillon, Debbie Renolds, Willford Brimley, Bob Newhart, A fun piece.

Glad you found "Landfall", Jeffrey, and glad you enjoyed it! Certainly Bubba and Bulldog are different men from Joe and Rex, and their story isn't the typical "boy meets boy" style. And, because it IS a different story, the sex (I hope) flowed naturally as a part of Bulldog's discovery of himself and the developing relationship with Bubba. You'll see Joe, Rex, Bubba, Bulldog, and others in the newest story I'm working on now, "Lion's Lair". Although they aren't the focus in that story, perhaps you'll get to see other sides to their personalities because of the different perspective of the new characters. Thanks for reading--and thanks for the kind words!

SO Not a Typical Monday!
Robert Rex commented on Robert Rex's story chapter in SO Not a Typical Monday!
Glad you enjoyed it! I must admit, was originally hesitant about publishing it here, since it's far more erotic than most of the stories. But, the eroticism is part of the guys' exploration and building of the relationship--just like it is with lots of men--and it served its purpose. And, it WAS my first story ever, so that only added to my uncertainty about it being here! Thanks for reading, and the comments! -
What the Hell Am I Thinking?
Robert Rex commented on Robert Rex's story chapter in What the Hell Am I Thinking?
Clayton and Alex DID have a good life, and there's the overall feel that, even though Alex has been dead 12 years, like in an past relationship, those fingerprints are still on Clayton's heart. I'm hoping you'll enjoy some of the upcoming twists and turns of this story; there's a lot ahead, and it's a complex tale, so get ready! And getting to show the different perspectives of "old" characters, like Barry, is fun. Think Barry always had something of an aggressive part to his personality, just that he didn't get to show it much in "Landfall" due to his circumstances. Glad you've enjoyed the story so far, Defiance--looking forward to future comments from you! -

Parker, it really IS a good thing to see what Clayton's thinking. He's always apparently very careful about what he presents publicly, it's nice to see his thought process. And, you're right--a good bartender is worth his weight in gold. They can entertain/protect/set the tone of the place like no one else; Barry has definitely added his imprint to the bar. Hell, the tips we leave aren't nearly enough for the good ones! Thanks for reading along! (And, BTW, loving your "A to Z" story. I've been away, and am playing catchup--and ran out of likes one day. I'm now half-way through, and enjoying the complex emotional tale. You're doing a great job on it. And yeah, promise I'll start leaving reviews!) -
What the Hell Am I Thinking?

Mike, like you, I've learned to trust my instincts and act on 'em, but keep in mind that Clayton is (by nature) analytical--he's gonna think through and consider all the options. Glad you're enjoying the characters. Getting some of the old characters back is (for me) like catching up with old friends. Plus, we get to see different perspectives of them from when they were telling their own stories--and that's fun. And, you're seeing a side of Barry differently now from before--and Dave's turn is coming up. Thanks for the review, and positive support! I appreciate you, buddy! -
What the Hell Am I Thinking?

Skinny, you're right--both Ryan and Clayton ARE out of their comfort zone--but isn't that really what happens at the start of any relationship, whether friendly or romantic? It's their responses that'll define what happens. And, Clayton is definitely more of a challenge to write about--he's a damn complex guy, filled with nuances. And, thanks for following up with "Joe". I hope you like that story, too. It's far more erotic than this story, but that's part of their exploration/building of their relationship. THANK YOU for reading, and the comments! -

A "smooth cliffhanger"? Great description, and you'll see a resolution to that pretty soon. Glad you're enjoying the characters, both old and new. This story is giving the option of expanding the personalities of the older characters a little bit more than what you'd seen before--and they're definitely interesting characters! Glad you're doing this story, RJ! Thank you! -

Daddy, you're right--our own secrets are always important; but, keep reading, I think you'll see Clayton's secret is a game changer. Thanks for reading! -

Thanks for the kind words, Onim! Glad you're enjoying both the plot so far, and the characters. True confession: Clayton is a damn difficult character for me. He's so buttoned down, filled with complex nuances that I'm NOT spelling out I'm detail but hinting at...I'm hoping they come through more clearly as he develops. And, yes, he's got his own secret(s) as much as Ryan or even Barry. I'm currently publishing every Thursday morning...a week isn't too long to wait, is it? . Thanks again for the kind words, and for following the story--and a few twists and turns ahead! -
All caught up--and really happy about it. It's remarkable how you're painting Toph, bringing together his disparities into a cohesive whole. It's almost like sitting in on a therapy session! And thankfully, the converging Toph is even more interesting than his separate fractured parts. But, his social life isn't fully integrated yet, and it's fascinating to watch him sometimes dispassionately report on each public (and occasionally, private) interaction. All I can say is--you've gotta regularly update this story! It's too damn good to sit idle!
