Glad you enjoyed the opening chapter!
Yup, these are mature men, so their take on things is perhaps a little more straight forward--no games--and I'm hoping you like the way the rest of the story goes.
Thanks for reading--and the comments!
Thanks for the comments, Defiance! I like to think the story shows we all need a nudge out of our comfort zone from time to time.
I appreciate your kind words!
Thanks, Lisa!
As I mentioned in other comments below, I took a chance on the format and writing style--it was a challenge for me to work in such a short venue.
I appreciate your kind words!
Thanks Eminent! And I think you're right--it's the continuous surprises that both delight and keep us a little off-balance, but hopefully open to more.
I appreciate your reading and your comments!
LOL, AC....Karen did turn out to be a fair weather friend; but in the end bravery was rewarded (as I think we all hope life will do!).
Thanks for reading!
Thanks for reading, Cole. As I mentioned in a couple of comments below, this story was a challenge for me to try a different writing style as well as sticking to a short story format--and I kept this VERY short! It's gratifying to think you liked the characters I'd developed in so few words.
Again, thanks for reading!
Thanks for reading, Puppilull!
What's the old line--no risk, no reward? Think that's far more true in affairs of the heart.
Again, I appreciate your input!
Sometimes the best stories DO take time; I've never done a short story, so this was a real challenge for me to stretch my wings.
Thanks for the kind words--and feel free to tell us about your chances; GA does kinda feel like group therapy, right?
Thanks, Clochette, for reading this!
Actually, although the story is VERY short (only 500 or so words over the minimum requirement), I've developed a fondness for these guys, too. Maybe we will see 'em later; who knows?
Again, thanks for reading!
Thanks for the kind words! I was admittedly experimenting with the writing style on this one--almost wanting it to be a narrative like you'd find on "20/20" or "Dateline", and although initially offputting, I'm glad it worked!
I appreciate your reading and review!
Interesting chapter! I'm still thinking it through, but I'm not sure I'm liking the newly insecure, rather vain Preston. I liked the self-confidentf fiesty version more, and I'm thinking maybe it's just because we're seeing the needy Indie after learning about the ass of an ex. See? That's what you've done here--created characters and used solid writing to drag us into your tale. This is all your fault! Consistently great work with both characters and dialogue. Now, where's that next chapter?
Gonna be fun to see where you take this tale! You've already got a likeable hero, so think your plot options are gonna be endless! Looking forward to more!
So much going on in one chapter! After the languid pace of the vacation, the guys come home to lots of changes and plenty of energetic activities. Hell, I'm already exhausted with their schedules! And, loved the way you handled CJ and Owen. Displayed both maturity on CJ's part and commitment level on Owen's side. (I really wasn't THAT certain of how strongly he felt about CJ, but far clearer now.) Nice to have the guys back home and gonna be fun to watch em adjust to their "normal" routine. Great job on this phase of the story!
Damn, damn! The best laid plans..... You threw a great curve ball having Ambrose show up, you stinker! Although I've gotta believe Ambrose will only be a positive force, it's a helluva cliffhanger! Fine writing here--can't wait for more!
Gotta love Ryan's direct, Marine approach to dealing with things...seems as though he just dives in and gets the job done. And Clayton seems just as direct--perhaps, though, only after he's analyzed the situation.
As for Benoit; well, it's a shame we all know too many guys like that.
Thanks for the comments and following the tale!
Nicely done--all isn't as it appears--and there are gonna be plenty of surprises ahead! Of course it just means you hafta get that next chapter out quickly.... <grin> That implied cliff-hanger requires it! Good job!
You're gonna have fun here, Dimitirius...lots of good folks, lots of solid writing in a variety of genres, lots of chances for social interaction! You'll find yourself wishing for more hours of the day as you read so much good stuff here! Just make a point to "review" and like the stuff you read--your voice here is important!
Welcome...and enjoy your time here!
