    Chapter 23

Cerberus sounds a lot like Hugo's old buddy, the Mech.
  2. The doorman was right, this is their sort of place.

    Chapter 16

I'm stuck on hedgehogs in waistcoats.

    Chapter 15

We already knew Adams did nothing with Jaime. Now we know all Adams had with Pitt was an unrequited love. It seems more unclear now why Adams pointed Jaime at Pitt when he knew the impossible challenge he would face.
  5. Brontide is often heard from distant battles.

    Chapter 23

But the program remains and there will be a what next.

    Chapter 14

Mine. "You guard him like a secret, but he was never yours to keep." Oh, but he wants to.

    Chapter 13

So my feeling something would happen on board wasn't misplaced.

    Chapter 12

Gordon's letter reminds us that our past grievances can eat us as relentlessly as cancer.

    Chapter 11

It's not the prisoners to fear, but the proximity of Jaime.

    Chapter 10

    Not nearly far enough.

    Chapter 9

Vane, damn you Vane. Sometimes the deepest villainous acts lie in what we chose not to do.

    Chapter 8

Fighting a storm and chasing a fearsome ghost ship. You've made us feel the searing anticipation to the bone.

    Chapter 23

It's not on Hugo. She crafted her own doom.

    Chapter 7

To be torn by such deep and hidden desire and the horror of nearly both smashing it and exposing it. William is such a good man. Now he recoils at what he nearly did to hide his own nature.

    Chapter 23

Ding dong Dottie's dead at last. She stupidly thought she'd won when Hugo tossed her the watch when she should have felt terror. Her death is final and can't be undone.

    Chapter 4

    Might? Would.

    Chapter 6

One can imagine the curve of Lt. Vane's career, once so promising and now buried by the weight of past failings. Jamie will continue to wear upon William's resolve like the breaking sea on a rock. It wears slowly, but it does wear.

    Chapter 5

Jamie is well liked by his shipmates. They will follow him because they want to, not because they must. It's a rare quality. He's succeeded in making himself seen.

    Chapter 4

William is tempted by Jamie's beauty, but resisting his desires. I doubt Jamie will allow himself to be denied. It's difficult to read this and not imagine Arbour's George Granger already having Jamie's palms on a wall.

    Chapter 3

Jamie has a gift for the turn of phrase. We already knew Blake came from some stature or means by entering service as a midshipman. The letters confirm it. It's warming to know he has a loving family at home. I loved the playful banter between the siblings.

    Chapter 2

Blake's approach on the quarterdeck wasn't the failure it initially appeared. It paid off with this closely held letter of introduction to Pitt. All these missives are discrete, but scream with subtext of unspoken passions.

    Chapter 1

The Old Boys Network comes to Blake's aid with a transfer to a ship which may prove more advantagous.

    Prologue

I felt the quiet but stark loneliness of William in this beginning. We often forget how short a lifetime could be in earlier ages.
  25. Perhaps. He opened Pandora's Box and Tawni has made it crystal clear she is not his exclusively. The ideal would be for another family to drop coin to be rid of him. All of these big players are equally vile.
