  1. Climactic finales are good. I don't know of anyone who prefers a premature climax. Disputed Authority. Hmm...I see General Bradson having a turf battle with the local Barney.
  2. You are correct. It was the members of Instinct that Joe told about Jerry being an arms dealer. Further, the meeting with the customs agent ended up being postponed after the news arrived from Australia.
  3. If government agencies are coordinating their inquiries, they have quite enough. Remember Joe's interview with the customs agent; they should suspect Jerry as an arms dealer. Combine that with Instinct's information given to the Air Force. That should be enough.
  4. Looks like they had to go back to the SUV not only to get their weapons, but also to drive around to a different location to launch the assault since the road was blocked. Good chapter, CJ! Plenty of action for even the most jaded of readers.
  5. C James has released Chapter 40 of Let the Music Play. May the best goose win!
  6. Stefan, I have been fortunate to visit Florence several times and never had reason to believe it was particularly homophobic. I very much enjoyed Primavera. It means a lot to me to read of the places and works of art that I am somewhat familiar with and that certainly added to my enjoyment of your story. Beyond that, I really like the characters in the story and am pleased with Allessandro's fidelity to Luca. That is quite a change for him and quite a tribute to Luca. I am surprised that you haven't had any discussion of the story in this forum. Perhaps it is the length; it took me a while to read it and maybe other readers have found it a bit daunting. Releasing shorter chapters at weekly intervals seems to get much more response in other authors' forums. Not criticizing your work. I think it is great and will read all that you have published in GA. Florence...what a great place for romance.
  7. I think we, the fans of Dom's stories, must accept the fact that something significant has occurred in his life that has taken him away from writing. We can hope that whatever has happened is something good, and that he is well and happy. We can also hope that he will return to writing sometime soon and that he will remain happy whenever that occurs. I am sure he will be in touch with us.
  8. Ugh! Another goose. What can CJ do with a goose that he hasn't already done? Could a hapless goose become a hero in Chapter 40? Maybe strike back at Mario or Dimitri for their shameless use of its Canadian brother? From Wikipedia:
  9. Excellent chapter, Dan! I really enjoyed it and am happy to have the questions from the previous chapter answered. The answers were good for the most part. I'm still looking for Worthington to get another notch in his bedpost ( ). Worthington and Jamie have new back-to-school wardrobes and they didn't come from Wal-Mart.
  10. There are an awful lot of words in the English language. Most dictionaries, printed or electronic, will omit many words that are not in most peoples' vocabularies. This is true even of those not considered abridged. Most of the alternate spellings you listed are those used by the British and are not likely to be in American dictionaries. I suppose the only significant test is whether or not your reader understands what you meant. The military's discovery of the fact that someone deliberately tried to kill Instinct and make it appear to be an accident should give them a clue. If General Bradson is flying to Telluride, perhaps he will bring a contingent of MPs with him.
  11. Chapter 4 has been posted.
  12. I think Brandon is the one real hero in the story thus far. Surely not. I'm looking for one of the band members to be a hero...perhaps Brandon again.
  13. Steve, I don't think report and rapport are either homonyms or homophones. They are neither spelled nor pronounced they same. Report has a short "e" sound in the first syllable and a pronounced "t" at the end. Rapport is one of those pesky French words and has a short "a" sound in the first syllable and a silent "t" at the end. A 12 gauge shotgun may produce a report when fired. A shooting enthusiast may develop a rapport with his shotgun.
  14. I don't know that it actually is a polarizing issue in the South. I very rarely see "y'all" in writing; have already seen it more in this forum than anywhere else. BTW, try typing both "y'all" and "ya'll" in a response in this forum and see which one is underlined as an incorrect spelling. The rule as I remember it is that the apostrophe takes the place of the missing letter(s) in a contraction. Therefore, the proper contraction of "you all" is "y'all". Not that we are necessarily talking about proper English. Anyone ever hear the Queen say "y'all"? Cheerio, y'all.
  15. Let's remember that Scar also anticipates receiving half the gold in Fort Knox. He'll probably hold onto his trump cards (the bombs hidden in the US) until he collects payment in full.
  16. Y'all is spelled various ways: Y'all From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia: I usually spell it "y'all" (though I rarely write it) and I am from Tennessee. Texans who are up on their state history know that many early "Texicans" came from Tennessee (Houston, Crockett, etc.) and the vernacular is very similar. Several times when I traveled to New York, Boston or Philadelphia, locals have assumed I was from Texas or out west. BTW, for those who don't know, many people use "y'all" as a singular pronoun (at odds with the Wikipedia entry); the plural is "all y'all".
  17. I think it is quite a good chapter, CJ. A battle is brewing and a number of things are moving forward toward the climax of the story... Wheels within wheels? I guess a lot of wheels are turning...some of them on Harleys. Ready for 40.
  18. Chapter 39 of C. James' Let the Music Play has been posted here. Roll on.
  19. This chapter is rather stark. We learn more about Six's family, especially his uncle Kevin. What a horrible childhood he suffered, with abuse and neglect from nearly everyone who came into contact with him including family and professionals who controlled his life...the very people who should care most. I only hope what Six is learning will help him sort out his life and relationships. Thanks, Carl, for a most interesting story.
  20. Was this an abdication or a coup d'etat?
  21. Chapter 3 of Carl Holiday's The Artists has been released.
  22. Wow! What a chapter! Thanks, Dan. Next Friday is a long way off.
  23. dkstories has posted Chapter 18 of Rich Boy:Growing Pains. Enjoy the chapter and have a great weekend!
  24. Thanks for ratifying my vote for sex. I doubt that voter who triggered the 69 bothered to calculate the percentage that would result from his vote. What really has surprised me is that, of the 286 people who viewed the thread, only 17 bothered to vote. Of the 12 who commented, all but one were male. Thus far, no voter has admitted to falling asleep when reading a C James story. Only two of us like sex; two others like tech and sex. Most of the rest must be geeks. Gay geeks...I hadn't even realized there was such a category.
