  1. As Kevin said : It's also my opinion. James's words are also mine : Nothing more to say
  2. When you grow older, you will let a lot of people "on the side of the road": family's members, close friends and others. Grief is always hard, very hard. But with the time passing, you will only remember the good moments. It's what life teach you. As you told us about the two last years of his life, I could imagine that his death was a relief form him. (I lived that with my daughter, dying from AIDS). And what it concern yourself, live each day, enjoy it, remembering always it could be your last. That's an advise of a very old man. Take care and "carpe diem". Old Bob
  3. I support that We don't need a lot of "sex" details ! And if I remember well, CJ is a bit shy in this matter You see, CJames, I told you already you should find an agent to contact some publishers Good luck !
  4. Sure ! "Chivas Regal" (12 years old, the 18 years is too expensive for me) or an old "Four Roses" (I like Bourbon whisky), or after lunch or dinner some brandy, Cognac, Armagnac or Calvados (an apple brandy from the French r
  5. Its also my opinion, but this was already brought in another topic about tobacco ! As I was said then, I smoke pipe (and only pipe) since years, without any health problem in this matter . (see my personal photo in my profile ) The only problem with pipes is all the work you have to do, to choose them (I'm the happy owner of 8 different pipes !), choose the right tobacco, clean the pipe before and after smoking, using a real stock of tools....
  6. Waiting of the next chapter of DK story ! And reading old books (I don

  10. I didn't vote ! because I can't decide about the word "most". -my parents ? they are dead since more than 20 years. -my wife ? we are both about 80 and more than 56 years together. It doesn't matter who will go first. We have both our memories and the future doesn't affect us. -my children ? they live their own life. My daughter is dead, my three sons are 56, 52 and 43 years old. They have their own problems, its nice to see them but the distance is growing each year after the other. -my platonic friends ?What's the meaning of "platonic" ? A platonic friend is not a real friend and you can forget him. -my society in general ?. Same question : society, which society ? The world I live in ? people with the same political opinion as mine ? The signification of this word is unclear. -myself ? I know my own character too good to be affected. -other ? Who else ? 11. Hi James, Do you recognize you in this portrait ? You didn't say anything to confirm it BTW, from your posts, blogs and comment, I would say "YES". But, according to the Jung's theory, each character has his shadow side, mostly well hidden. Which is yours? "KNOW YOURSELF" as I said in my first post. But perhaps it is private, I don't want to disturb you . Keep well Old Bob
  12. well, what you would do in theory and what the real life brings you as experiments are often different ! In my case, my partner, I mean my wife, couldn

  15. How can you say that ? Too much comparing to what ? A little bit of alcohol in blood is the best way to prevent heart attack, specially in your age And better, my advise : 2 or 3 times a week, wine during meals, a good brandy (Armagnac or cognac) at the end and a Chivaz as a night cap. The only main point : don't drink "cheap". Good alcohols are expensive. If you can't buy them, wait till you have earned enough. And take care... Old bob
  16. try following site : religions in Wiki It you dont find what you are researching, try "references", "see also" and "external links" in the same site. Good luck old bob
  17. Hi everybody, I don't know if this topic is here right in place, but for me, education of youngsters in tolerance and understanding for minorities (particularly GBLT minorities) is the most important contribution to a better world. Based on my own experiences by sending my children to open minded schools I found that this is a very important part of education. In Europe, the model of such schools is the Summerhill School in England ( see : Summerhill School ). In Switzerland we have the Ecole d'humanit
  18. For me, race has nothing to do with attraction . I have some criteria about lust, crush, male or female beauty, and race or skin color doesn't belong to them. Its a "chemical" process : mixing of sex pheromones, of remaining of old images combined with pleasant feelings, depending of your mood in the moment. Sometimes, foreign race is not my taste and there is no attraction. Sometimes, I need a change and my first feelings are positive, just because the race. I don't have a lot of experiences myself, but I had a daughter who was very fond of other "races". She brought home (but only one after the other and never for a long time ! ) Chinese, Hispanics, Gypsies, Afro-Americans, Beauties from Martinique, and sometimes even Swiss hippies ! They were always well adapted to the situation and belonged to the family as long as my daughter was ready to accept them. Sometimes we had at the beginning problems to be accustomed with the first names, which changed so often....Funny times and funny/happy life . Old Bob (laughing from these memories)
  19. Hey Demetz, You are right, that's all the problem with the behavioral psychology. These psy don't go deep enough, It's like asking for your watch to to tell you which time is it . A real Jung's psychoanalysis, with the detailed study of your dreams and your comments to them take much more time (perhaps several years at one cession per week) but give you the keys to your unconscious, and open the gate to your shadows. Unfortunately, the psy who are capable to bring you so far are very rare and very expensive . Only these who followed such a cure can tell what they experimented and the profits they found from it. As I said before, it's a long way and not everybody is ready for it. But believe me, it's worthwhile. Old bob
  20. Congrats James , I wish you successful travels on the roads and a business life full of nice experiences. And thanks for the cartoon "anime" in your last post . It reflects your happiness and we are happy with you. Take care Old bob thanks to Drewbie

  22. For those who are interested, see : Your personal type in Jung Typology Test. On the same site, you can find an "marriage test", but I do not suppose that a lot of us are interested
  23. Before "liking", you have to "accept" yourself for what you are. I takes not only some work, it takes time, but it's sometimes easier when you mustn't do it alone.
  24. Hi Kevin, thanks for your detailed comments about astrology. I'm not so doubtful a you. As did C.G Jung in his approach, it seems to me that we project a lot of oneself when we construct an horoscope or when we practice the Y-King. I always learn more about myself through the doing itself than from the results. In my own professional practice, I found that with the scientific methods (for instance like TA or CBT) it was often very difficult to get the personality as a whole and I had sometimes to call the non scientific approach to help for establish a right diagnosis. Do you know exactly why you want to know more about yourself ? Sometimes, if you are going deep enough, are you sure to accept what you find there ? How to deal with ones own shadow could be an hard problem ! You have two possible approaches : learning by reading or listening, and learning by doing. IMO,only the second brings you far enough. Really ready to invest enough time and energy for that ? Frankly, I doubt ! BTW, my own comment is here just to go on with the discussion . Take care yourself Old Bob
  25. The Ancient Greek aphorism "Know yourself" (Greek: γνῶθι σεαυτόν or gnothi seauton) was inscribed in the forecourt of the Temple of Apollo at Delphi. The saying "Know thyself" may refer by extension to the ideal of understanding human behavior, morals, and thought, because ultimately to understand oneself is to understand other humans as well. But it may also refer to a less ambitious ideal, such as knowing one's own habits, morals, temperament, ability to control anger, and other aspects of human behavior that we struggle with on a daily basis. For me, to know more about myself was always a permanent need. Among the several methods to reach this goal, you can choose two different ways: to try it alone, or to confront your feelings with another soul, mostly a psychoanalyst. I tested both ways (it was a long story!) and, to my great astonishment, the results were practically the same. The meaning of this poll: to check if anybody else made the same experiences.
