Yep . . . the threads are cumming together . . . only a few chapters to go.

Had to do some hard thinking about the twins. When I was twelve I was very sexually active (any male would do) so if I sound critical of Simon, there is an element of hypocrisy there. The main issue is whether anyone's been victimized and raped. That's definitely a no, no.

I saw your earlier comment about 'Zumba' but decided to let you read on. I'm an incurable romantic believing that love is a powerful panacea for hard times. They do say 'love conquers all'.

My favopurite T'Gallant wine is a reisling with a very slight 'spritzig' aftertaste. Very refreshing on a hot summer's day . . . but not at $110.

Chapter Ten 10.1 Simon meets Arthrit Several days later Simon Pearce sat fuming at the bar of Melbourne’s Crown Casino hotel. That morning he’d been called into his boss’s office and terminated. The reason – a complaint had been made against him for sexually assaulting two minor boys. The boss had read statements concerning his activities and concluded the charge substantiated. The police would not be involved. He still had some commissions coming in the pipeline so his immediate finance

Chapter Nine 9.1 Jaimee meets with the boy's dad ‘Hello . . . ummm Ken Wilson here.’ ‘Ummm ken . . . look it’s . . . it’s Jaimee in number ten. I’ve got something I need to talk to you about. I definitely don’t want to talk over the phone, so . . . so, could you possibly pop up to my place as soon as you can?’ ‘Jeeessuss Jaimee, you sound terrible. If you’re in trouble perhaps the wife can help with whatever’s wrong. I’ll just see if . . .’ ‘NO, NO please Ken . . . I just

When I wrote that part I'd just found out my own dog , a beautiful, loyal fox terrier who I've named 'Buddy' has had to have his back teeth out, at a cost of $A1500. No amount of money is too much for a guy's best friend. It's interesting you've been to Melbourne but not the Mornington Peninsula. It's beautiful and our main product, besides tourism, is wine-making. There really is a restaurant right on Mt. Matha beach, and is my favorite haunt. Glad you get your response. Thanks again.

Thanks for your comments. At this point the story gets a bit messy, but later on . . .

Thanks for your comments. Yes, some of the laundered money definitely comes from the opium parlor. As you'll find out . . . . no, I can't say anymore.

Chapter Eight 8.1 Jaimee reports to the Senior Partner The senior partner decided he and Jaimee would have a sandwich lunch at their Friday meeting. Kirsty Meadows ordered an impressive array of sandwiches which Jaimee now hungrily munched as Frank read his report. He covered his nervousness by gorging himself. He’d worked and re-worked the report knowing this would be a test of his ability to make a lucid and professional analysis of his work at the Ministry. Frank hardly touched a sand

Chapter Seven 7.1 Cynthia [Zumba] meets her friends. ‘Ahh . . . I see. That does seem very unfortunate. Why haven’t you come to tell me this before?’ ‘Because Lan, it’s just become a problem. One of the Elders, or perhaps several, have become suspicious and called in an accounting firm to do an audit, of the current financial year. We didn’t get much notice, so all we could do was comply; not to do so would’ve been suspicious. It wasn’t . . .’ ‘My dear Cynthia we are well capab

As I got into the story I felt really close to Jaimee. He's a complicated character but over-all just nice. Thanks for commenting.

Chapter Six 6.1 The audit comes together Surrounded by his under-grads, Jaimee considered the documents before him. They were copies of the Discharged Mortgages Register held at the Land Titles Office and clearly showed a mortgage being discharged on a property in Frankston just before the close of the previous financial year. The amount was large - $2,000,000 and explained why the Mortgage payments for last year were much bigger than the current year. That’s where the transaction t

Chapter Five 5.1 The Audit Continues. Several days later, Jaimee sat back and considered the team’s progress. He’d obtained a copy of last year’s Revenue account and verified that the published Mortgage Payments were correct, and they, indeed almost doubled the current year. Then the team had listed payments from the Bank statements and agreed the total to the Revenue Account. Now Jaimee had a list in front of him which showed the payment date, the amount paid, and the Bank’s description

You're very intuitive. Paul's got many problems but underneath he's strong. If he wanted to he could give our Jaimee a choice - Simon or him. But he doesn't. Read on . . .
-
Yes right now Jaimee's problem is being unfaithful to Simon. Because he's sensitive he won't let his feelings for Paul get in the way of the blooming relationship with Paul. But read on . . .

Nothings as it seems. People hide their darkest side from even their love ones.

fair enough, but wait to see what follows

I really didn't know if a financial background story would be intere4sting, so I took a chance. Tried to not get too technical

Believe me some people are that stupid. Also arrogant because they think they can get others to do anything they want

Chapter Four 4.1 The Audit intensifies. Chasing down items in the Gross Income Reconciliation, Jaimee came across entries transferring monies from Property Accounts, described as operating losses. One identified as income from a property whose address was 18 Hall Road Carrum Downs. Listed on the Balance Sheet as being valued at one and a half million dollars with a mortgage attached requiring monthly payments of $9,300, it seemed just a regular commercial transaction. Referring to t

Chapter Three 3.1 Jaimee the Audit and Coffee Left alone to do the grunt work, Jaimee examined the bank’s online statements and listed all deposits made over the current reporting period. Boring work, but necessary. Validating each entry to the church’s revenue statement, he would eventually reconcile the total bank deposits to total church revenue. This forensic approach he enjoyed immensely. Often such a reconciliation highlighted any unusual problems which required further investigati

Your very observant. As you'll find later Paul is adopted . . . so well done. Be patient with him. He has a sorry background and up bringing. Yes Cynthia is the 'femmev fatale'. Bernard is just a weakling. In fact he is a real character. His father molested many young boys in his pastoral care and died before the cops could nail him. Bernard covered everything up. Thanks for commenting.

Chapter Two 2.1 Meeting the Pastors and their son Paul After parking their car, Andrew, Jaimee, and Barbra looked upon the massive structure that housed Shephard Ministries in the outer Melbourne suburb of Carrum Downs. It consisted of three parts, the center being the church proper and two adjacent wings obviously planned for administration. As Team Leader Andrew made inquiries in the foyer, explaining who they were and that they had an appointment with the Pastors Hudson. The sur

Thanks for that. I don't like being over dramatic, and try to steer a middle course. The character, at this point, as the story unfolds, is in real anguish.
