Infodumps about characters' looks are overdone and dull. The worst is the 'looking in the mirror' description.
Let the characters describe what they see. For example, Mike sees Jamie and looks into his soulful blue eyes. Let Jamie show us how long his hair is when he pushes back his long bangs, etc.
If it's done properly, we can determine Jamie's body type from what is shown in the story. He runs, works out, etc., so the reader can see his body type. We don't need to say he's muscular and has stamina.
Readers are smart, and while they may not all think Jamie looks the same, they are happy with the character they see. For me, that's what matters.
