That's great. Our folks in Newfoundland and other maritime provinces here in Canada are of UK descent. They speak a dialect all their own. I had a character whose family was from there and they went home to visit the Rock. Writing that dialect was fun (and approved by a native from NFLD). Thanks for sharing how you feel. Makes it all worthwhile.

I think we need all foods (good ones, not potato chips so much) and probably less meat. Michael, my Husband is diabetic so our diet is fairly low carb. (Except on Friday when I go out with our other husband, Dan. We'll usually have a donut and coffee while out...our treat of the week.)

I think we'll try your lovely salad. Cucumbers are not easy on a couple of us, but we could replace them with sweet peppers, I think. I'm happy with non-meat meals, but I live with a couple of Bears (polar and grizzly) who would eat it but would need meat on the side.

I love this. I did worry about the 'foreignness' of this story after reading comments from some on GA about not wanting to look things up. I appreciate your willingness to do that. As an author, I know most of us spend hours researching to make our stories real and right. Readers like you are a pleasure to write for. Thank you, and thank you to all of you who have done the same thing.

THAT was a great program. We watched the original one. My Husband is English so we watch a lot of British programming.

That is exactly why the tags/genre info is recommended both for the author and the reader. You can hardly blame the author, if the tags are there but not used. This story is compelling and very well-written. Frankly, I found this story realistic when I first read it. I feel the paranormal aspects of this story were introduced properly over time, as the main character himself wasn't fully aware he had any special 'talents' in that area.

Another great chapter. We see Rupert on his home turf. Meet Melanie and experience her disappointment and happiness as she finds a new friend willing to help her in her quest to find a fit straight man! This chapter contains some excellent hints and touches of realism and is, as always, very balanced. Excellent!

okay... beef stew is in the oven stewing.. for a few hours .. i couldn't fit it in the IP. Maybe i just need a bigger IP now that there are more of us.. It'll do nice in the oven though. It's for dinner tomorrow and maybe Tuesday if it's not all devoured!

I agree, but the passive voice still has its uses and should still be part of your writing toolbox. As with show vs. tell, I'm not a believer in the all-or-nothing approach to writing.

It's windy and raining in Toronto. Temperature is about 44f. So overcast and grotty. Cooking your own food is the best option if you have the skills. We need to bring back teaching those skills in school. They are important in the face of the cost of food and the health/nutrition issues with highly processed food. Let's not forget skimpflation as well! I have no idea what to make the Men for dinner other than grilled cheese sandwiches and soup. Saturdays are supposed to be a less stressful day with something light for dinner.

It is wonderful. i'm very lucky not to have to do paid work. 2024 will be challenging for you. That sounds like a great idea and a brave one but why not? i hope your new company brings you much success and fulfillment!
