  1. that's baked oatmeal ... i think Wayne has other things in his oat hash. Let's see what the hash master has to say ... lol
  2. swiped from the weather network..
  3. Michael says this is a crime of opportunity... A resident near Porcupine Plain, Saskatchewan recently called the RCMP after wooden posts on their property went missing, The Humboldt Journal reports. The caper was quickly solved when officers spotted the missing posts in a nearby waterway. It turns out a beaver (or beavers) had lifted them to add to a dam. RCMP says the "extremely Canadain" case is now closed. Police tried to locate the suspects but they were "gone on arrival." If they are located, the beavers will not face any charges, officers say. “Who could really blame these little bucktooth bandits, considering the price of wood these days?” Cst. Conrad Rickards of the Porcupine Plain RCMP Detachment told the journal.
  4. oh that sounds nice. our fav grocery store closed at christmas, leaving us with an expensive place. With Michael not driving for the last ..well nearly a year now, we dont go far. You do not want me driving you anywhere but crazy. Least that wont kill you. So we do go and shop every week, but walmart delivers cans, heavy stuff.. um very inexpensive oats and really good frozen veg. I mean really good. So we stock up from there every few months. But we walk to the grocery store and stuff.
  5. Someone.. who shall likely not remain nameless said to me, the DiC is a good little place, tim. It's safe, supportive and funny. it is and you're all part of the reason it is❤️
  6. awwww hugs, honey. make a nice warm drink and snuggle up.. maybe take a pain killer?
  7. When i started making other kinds of dessert for us.. because of Michael, I said to him you know this will not be the same as usual brownies or whatever. He said I know. I'm willing to try anything. I know it wont be the same as things made with sugar and flour, but it's going to be better than the alternative, which is nothing. Sasha's, lemon squares are wonderful, so are his macaroons (use honey), the zucchini brownies are very nice. Sometimes for dessert Michael and i have a fruit plate, or we buy good dark chocolate and have a square or two with an orange we share, along with a few pecans. We like the sugar free jello with fruit, Michael has a bit of cream on His. I make apple crisp and a pie now and again. Sasha's crackers are amazing and good for you. We have them as an afternoon snack with some cheese. His cream cheese muffins are good. I want to try his lentil burgers, but i'll make them smaller to have for lunch with some carrot slaw or something. We have Walmart or ... nothing. There are very few department stores here we can afford. They have all closed down... Zellers, Sears.. and others that were affordable all closed now. I order groceries from Walmart, we dont go there.
  8. Yeah.. sometimes they had to be there ... if they were close to arrests shift could be 12, 20 hours.. whatever, they just did it. Like you probably.
  9. i understand. Michael used to live on soda, fast food, candy...when he was a cop. Once he was diagnosed, all that stopped. Like the same day. I love maple syrup too. I use mostly honey, it has greater sweetening power. But we don't have it in tea or coffee. For coffee we use Walmart's version of splenda. It's nicer than splenda.. not as weirdly sweet.
  10. Applesauce is used to reduce fat too. It's great stuff.
  11. I felt the same when i was looking for sugar substitutes. It sounded perfect, till i started reading. Really bad for those who need to watch sugar. Honey is the better choice, but you still have to be careful with it. That's why i like Sasha's recipes. He uses honey or maple syrup but very little. So, it's okay for Michael.
  12. i like to make healthy stuff ...bonus is it tastes nice.
  13. Everything i do, i do for love ... of my Husband and his health.
  14. Be careful agave.. it is worse than high glucose corn syrup. It can reduce insulin sensitivity, may negatively affect your liver and is higher in calories than sugar. I looked at it when Michael was diagnosed and rejected it outright.
  15. Hint.. when working with oatmeal... let it sit for a few minutes after mixing it. Let the oats soak up some moisture.
  16. I looked for my idiot student to see if his wire had come in later in the day but it hadn't. a team mate will check tomorrow as well. I decided to see how old he was ... i thought he was a kid the way he was acting!! He is 32 freaking years old!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That just floored me. Wow, and he wants to come to Canada to go to school. wow.
  17. Michael isn't into celsius either.. i understand them both. Michael is ordering dinner...i wish i had some wine. I feel for the students even though they are sometimes dumb, but to assume we just are lying or that we cant bothered makes me mad. Banks cannot trace incoming payments.. and him begging me and saying You're my only hope is unfair. As soon as i went back i had another from Vietnam. He asked me to check. I did, i also looked at other recent inquiries. A teammate said we'd send it when we got the funds. So, the funds were there as was the proof of funds document. I made a pdf and attached it to my reply. Sent it. Said to him, Ive replied. He says okay, goes to read it. Comes back: Oh. Does this mean i can apply now. Yes. OMG.. thanks.. thank you. have a good day.. wow, thanks.. it was cute.. made me laugh. If its there, we'll send it. Not too much longer to go.. god.
  18. omg.. 1 hour on chat with some drama queen student.. their wire transfer hasnt arrived.. and he fg went on and on about it. We are being inundated with them right now and seriously, int'l wires take 5 business days or more.. they send them two days before their deadlines and then come whinging to us they wont be able to apply online. We tell you to allow 10 business days so you allow 2 .. I want to tell them to F OFF ... i seriously am losing the will to live
  19. Do you ever just want to slap some people? Humans are individuals, with separate issues and experiences. Sorry, Jack, but consider yourself slapped.
  20. i sort of imagined when i first read your post that you were tossing them into the pot...lol Michael was like Emeril ... but has since learned there are other temperatures besides HIGH .. hehe.
  21. Myr, is experimenting with different icons. There's a blog about it, where you can express your feelings about it.
  22. Yeah, any of those berries would be great. Blueberry would be with lemon zest too. I think you can use anything you want, peaches, apricots, plums, apples, rhubarb would be excellent in there. Nuts are healthy and add a lot texture and flavour. I put them in my apple crisp topping, along with orange zest. About the sponge.. i don't know. We don't use sponges, so i cannot help with that. We use chia in our bread and i've never noticed them anywhere but in whatever I'm making ... lol, so what are you doing?
  23. Getting by, rick. Hope you are. Hope your brother is doing okay also.
