This 6-part story is sad because of the subject matter, however it is because of the subject matter this piece demands reading. People should not have to fight to live and enjoy their lives, not because of who they love. In Drew's blurb about this story, he tells us life for Gay people is hard enough without interference from outside forces. Our children should not be told they are wrong for being Gay or Trans or anything else. Life itself is a huge enough challenge without that. Drew shows us one such life and fallout from fighting who you were born to be. Do not pass this one by.

Oh, Fae, i am so sorry ... for her and her family. And for you. What you describe sounds, well, horrible. It is awful when doctors do not listen. People often just know when there is something wrong, maybe not what but we know. If we are lucky our doctors will hear us. I am sorry, my friend. I hope your friend will now get the care that she needs. I hope she will be all right.

i smoked when i was on the street ... cigarettes and roll-able and injectable things for a number of years. Got off of all of it. i do miss all of them even now sometimes. i have not considered vaping ... one because Michael would likely kill me and the other reason is that honestly it looks stupid. You cannot look cool with that thing shoved in your face. Just don't. This is not the first time i've heard of people having near death issues with vaping. i do understand why people take drugs or drink ... i do because i lived it. it takes you away from the reality for a short time. But it fixes nothing, does not make you feel better in the long run. They make you feel stronger for a few minutes but leave you vulnerable to others. You make stupid choices because in that moment you are stupid. And sometimes you end up with a death sentence from things like HIV, an overdose, a heart attack at 24. If you do any of these things, or if you need mental health assistance, get help. There is strength in numbers ... tell someone, ask for help. It is not easy to open yourself up, it isn't. But there is a better life out there if you want it. Okay.. i have rambled on long enough, but what i say is true. Now ... my cocktail of lifesaving and mood altering meds are on the counter waiting for me ....
