Thank you so much, weinerdog. Detecting character flaws isn't always a sure thing. And Trevor wasn't exactly thinking with the big head, relatively speaking, when he was dealing with both women.

This is a fun read and well worth the time. Can a stray change a man's life? I guess you'll have to read to find out. Considering who the author is, you probably should have read it already anyways.

I've kept the reminder in my email since you posted this. Finally I got some time to sit, relax, and read. It was well worth the wait. Through all of this you've got me wondering what happened to the world. Beyond that question, it's a great story. Best of all he finds companionship all because of a dog. Thank you for sharing this.

That's for sure. Typically when I'm posting a chapter, I glance through it since GA does flag words it thinks are wrong. As soon as I finish and hit post, I'll invariably find an error that sticks out as if it were in neon. Such is the life of a writer.

The sleepless nights are fewer for me, but they are there. Something from my past pops into my memory as I'm hoping to fall asleep. That's all it takes for my mind to lock on to that and run with it. Three sets of eyes, Google Docs, Grammarly, I'd add MS Word to that, but it's grammar check often sucks and the fact I'm still using a 2007 version might play into that. Oh, and @Backwoods Boy, you may have sent me several private messages as you started reading my books, but you got hired because I was familiar with you from the several times we'd chatted about your stories. That and your fun to work with like Carlos.

I'd say that's how I'm notified of most errors. I can't speak for other authors, but I'm always open to additional spell checks.

I know, despite my best efforts, mistakes will likely always be present. I am thankful when they're pointed out to me either in a comment or a private message since both get the job done. An outright misspelled word is easier to find that mistakenly hitting the letter next to the one I want. In this case, out and put are close enough with two out of three letters the mind filled in the rest. Kind of like those examples of mental fill in where a paragraph only has a couple correct words written and the rest use, I think, first and last letter for the other words. It's not difficult to read those since there's enough information for the mind to extrapolate what the intended text should be.

With his usual brilliance, @Carlos Hazday takes us into the mind and life of a wounded warrior. It's a subject many don't think about, but there's a lot of Brad's in this country. Like everything this man writes, it's enjoyable, sad, funny, and well worth the read.

Thank you, Carlos. I think Skyler and Randy will be on the return list. Those guys were fun to write and when I gave up on my original ideas for this book and added them, it flowed easily. Note to self, remember you're a gay romance/adventure novelist, and even your "straight" characters want a boyfriend.

Thank you, Clancy. This book is nothing like what I originally story-boarded, and in a way I'm happy about that. Evoking memories for a reader, especially a happy one is a nice compliment. When Trevor and Cassidy visit the Subway Cave near Burney, they shut off their flashlights to experience that total darkness. The side chamber that's mentioned has a interpretative marker indicating no external light can reach that spot. From what I've read, many of the tubes in Lava Beds are the same way. Shasta Caverns are beautiful and the way they light the formations is stunning. Sadly, and likely for safety reasons, they don't turn off the lights during the tour. I guess if it hasn't become evident from my writing, I find caves fascinating.

Even though I basically finished the outline from where Trevor decided to sleep with Skyler and Randy to the end during one fire deployment, I'm sorry to say the addition of a few more chapters isn't going to happen. But, every time I've considered retiring the series, I get some idea to bring back characters or introduce new ones.
