    Chapter 6

Thank you once again, Raven. Aiden and his friends do have their flaws, but in general they try to do what's right for the pack and the people they're around. Ethan would have had their support just for being Aiden's mate, but they see him as the person he is and the strength he shows.

    Chapter 5

In any unhappy existence, like being homeless, a fantasy world in a book or imagination is one of few escapes. Seeing that fantasy come real would likely feel like you're stuck in a dream. You're right though, the love shown him is something that would scare him more than the wolf itself.

    Chapter 4

Aiden is lucky to have the friends he does. The trio likely couldn't be closer unless they were mated. While Aiden doesn't see the obvious, because he isn't expecting it, the others do and know they'll help him in any way they can. The alpha knows what's up as well, but realizes Aiden must come to the conclusion himself, so guides with a gentle push and instructions.

    Chapter 3

Thank you, Raven. There is a definite difference between father and son in the Stockdale family and you point out all the good points in this alpha. For Ethan's part, he's pretty sure what he saw but also figured the doctor would think he's crazy if he mentioned it, so better to keep quiet.

    Chapter 2

Thanks again, Raven. When I originally started writing this, it was strictly from Ethan's point of view. After a couple years break, when I restarted to write this and changed it from first person to third person, the wolf started to take form. I'm biased since this is basically my child, but telling this portion from Aiden's view point helped.

    Chapter 1

Thank you, Raven. Ethan's past makes him who he is. I'm not sure I'd say unhardened, but the relaxed atmosphere of being out in nature probably helps ease that. It's difficult to leave that environment without a tough edge.

Thank you, Raven. For a little slime-ball, toss away character from the first book, Chris was both fun to write, explore, and give life to.

Great chapter and fun seeing this from CJ's perspective. I'm glad he and Owen got to spend time with Joel, but they really shouldn't have teased him with, “Stick with us, kid. Uncle CJ and Uncle Ozzie will get you laid.”

I'll make sure to try it when I eventually visit. The Columbia River Pack was originally going to be based in Portland when they were mentioned in book 1. As I started writing this, I didn't like the wolves being in an urban area like that. Even though I never mentioned the town by name, Government Camp seemed like a good place for this to take place. Thank you for all the great comments, Raven.

Thank you, Raven. Chris's support network is expanding with people who won't let him down.

After coming so close to seeing their only son executed for his crimes, I think they'd be pleased with any relationship that brings Chris happiness. For his part, Chris periodically questioned if he was straight or bi. He had feelings for one of his friends/victims that he couldn't explore for many reasons

Thank you, Raven. Rory paid attention when they taught lycan sex ed, so it may have taken him a little time to realize what was happening, but he also know this was the one. It took me a little while of going back and forth with the idea of Chris meeting his mate. He's turned his life around, but would it be too much throwing this at him? I finally figured he'd earned it. I've been accused of being a romantic at time.

Thank you, Raven. I've mentioned before, it's an area I very much want to visit. Looking at pictures only goes so far, but I'm happy I was able to describe it well enough for someone from there. Dinner at the Timberline Lodge is also on the travel list for me. Fortunately my readers know me well enough. I can still surprise them from time to time, but in the lycan world some scents just can't be hidden. The visit gives the family as a whole a chance to start healing.

Thank you, Raven. Chris won't have to look over his shoulder anymore. Even if he thought it was a remove chance Micheal would come after him, he'd have always had that worry until there was knowledge of Michael's location. Kyle and Corey have become Chris's anchor to life and will help him learn to actually feel.

All of these steps he's taking is getting him closer to being his own person for the first time in years. I think if he was asked what would make him happy, he'd still have no clue because someone wasn't telling him the answer that was expected.

Thank you, Raven. After the horror show in the last chapter, Chris deserved some happiness.

This was probably one of the more difficult chapters to write. Chris was known to his friends to be Michael's enforcer. After getting properly trained, he was just as sadistic as his mentor and did all he could to make Michael proud. Finally admitting to himself that he was raped by his "friend" is opening the door to the monsters in his mind.

    Journal 10

In the life Chris had around Michael, if something devastating would have happened to someone, they'd have been pointing, laughing, and pouring salt in the wound. With his new life and prospective on things, plus not knowing about his families safety he has to experience these new feelings. Having two people who comfort him and refuse to leave him alone is new, but so very welcoming to him.

Thank you, Raven. I very much want to visit the area and see Mt. Hood and the other places I describe in this book. As fun as it was finding things on Google Maps, I'll enjoy experiencing it like Chris did. Finding the lookout tower and building the scene around it made for a great way to let Kyle and Corey build as people in addition to showing Chris they're more than just his escorts.

My therapist used a journal with me and the circular thoughts I'd write led to discussions that helped me find and exit to the roundabout. I think it worked for Chris too. It the world I write, some lycan are so in sync with their animal there is limited separation between either side. For other people it's a wide chasm between the personalities. In Chris's case, they're fairly close but both so damaged the thought of going feral is almost a protection mode to spare them both.

If Chris was a totally new character, I'd probably let the readers make their own interpretation on some things. In this case he was known, but way in the background. In his case, I wanted things to go in a very specific direction. The journal format worked for that, though at times it felt like a cheat since it allowed me to avoid a lot of dialogue. The format did allow me to focus more just on Chris.

Thank you, Raven. This was a fun chapter to write and expand on the people Chris deals with. Kyle has been assigned to watch and escort Chris around, but he's in a position to help in ways most others around the pack can't. With the lycan sense of smell it would be fairly useless for Chris to lie to Kyle, but with his living situation he's embracing candor over his old ways.

Thank you, Raven. This was a mental break that he needed. Until he hit this point and realized he needed help, he could still try to bluff himself that he wasn't as far in the hole as he was.

    Journal 5

His reaction to being sentenced in the first book following his trial is the start. He came very close to being put to death and still has that possibility hanging over him. Chris had a couple choices: stay on the path he was with Michael and likely die, accept being a prisoner and work for change, or attempt for forge his own way and go rogue. Because of his parents, he opted for trying to change.
  25. WolfM

    Journal 4

Thank you, Raven. I had a lot of fun with the psychological side of writing this and building Chris into a full character he didn't get in book 1. Most important thing I wanted for him was not to be the type that tries to blame everyone else for something he did.
