I didn't realize it was the same company or family. I don't like heights, pretty much hate them. But I loved that climb. Compared to the day I flew into Sydney, when you could barely see anything, it was a beautifully clear day.

I can't imagine running up and down those stairs. Yeah, I'll be happy to go on them the next time I'm there, but no way am I running. LOL.

Hiking out from Mt. Solitary, we went past the Ruined Castle area. I think it had already burned around there and was just smoldering by that point, but remembering all those spots is a challenge. I'd heard the short version of the Three Sister's in Carlo's writing when his character CJ visited that area. Someone also told me that while at Echo Point. The real life version of Yarran told me the extended story which I thought was wonderful. He pointed me to the website I listed at the base of the chapter instead of writing it out for me. When Covid is finally under control, he still plans to take my husband and me for a bushwalk through the area. There is so much I want to see there.

Thank you, Foggy. I'd been paying attention to the Australian fires during my training sessions in 2019 with the department I work for. Much like I described in chapter 1. Before the US officially sent people from the Forest Service, we were asked if anyone was willing to go. It was a free trip to a country I wanted to visit, and there was a massive need for people, so it was a no-brainer. I don't remember much about Katoomba High School other than sleeping beside the truck. It was a rough time there with some days worse than others. I'm still glad I went. I've seen the fires currently burning near Perth. I'm just glad it isn't the entire country again.

Thank you, Foggybear. Reliving these while writing wasn't a fun experience, but just like when I write poems about a fire or other experience, it's therapy for me in dealing with it. I will say writing about it is better for me than watching what I caught on my GoPro. For me it was a balancing act of how much to add for interest vs going too far with detail and it becoming boring. Thanks to the incredible editor I have, I'm happy with how this worked out.

Thank you, Foggybear. Having fought fires in the California Napa Valley, I learned about smoke taint and the effects it can have on the grapes. After working the fires in the Hunter Valley in NSW, I heard them talking about the contamination. By the time I finished writing this, I'd gotten the numbers for the projected losses. I could have written this just as my human self going and doing all this, by why do that when I can have fun and expand my near human characters.

I'm happy you found this story. The Blue Mountains were a favorite spot of mine and I hope to be able to go back there someday. Preferably without any fires burning.

Great chapter. Always wonderful when the family gets together. Embers sounds interesting. I'll have to look for that. Might want to add it to my reading material.
-
With all the talk about the lycan from Embers, when you say further bite Northman, you weren't meaning one of my guys, were you?
-
Great chapter. It's enjoyable how dismissive Jimmy is of Northman. Also the comment, "Because it's above your security clearance," would have to leave Stephen wondering, how did his employee get a higher clearance than him. CJ was broken up about Defiant, until he got behind the wheel of Heinrich. He does like flashy and fancy trinkets. lol

This chapter had me on the edge of my seat the first time I read it and did so today as well. CJ learning to focus his anger is both a good thing for him and dangerous for others. Very well done.

Since there's a lot of me in various characters that lets readers learn about me, the main way I learn about my readers is through their comments. But you'd kind of outed yourself on some of your likes with comments on my other stories. In the original draft I expanded on what Ethan was suggesting with him saying how hot Aiden looks in a sling. lol. You're reaction to this and other spots in all the series always makes me smile. Thank you, Story.

The touristy stuff with the family is great. When I beta read this for you, a documentary on the Mexico City land subsidence issue popped up on YouTube. I didn't know it was a problem before you wrote it. It's fun that your books are educational and exciting. Loved that CJ stood up to Northman. And he did it in a measured way, without letting his temper get the better of him. Funny how happy Marines can be when they get laid, especially when it's really good.

Thank you for the wonderful compliment, Story. At times I think I should have left it with the original ending of the previous chapter, but I'm happy I added this one to change the outcome. The reactions from my readers like you is what makes writing a joy for me.

I created Chris in the first book to fill in a needed character and be tossed in the garbage bin when finished with him. He was fun to come back to and actually turn into a full person. I'm happy you enjoyed it.

This was a great chapter, and I'm totally not bias. Fun people, enjoyable dinner party, and entertaining conversation. Even with what a small part Jürgen had in this, I still liked him. In public he may not have been the most outgoing by a long shot, but it's the quiet ones like him that scream the loudest behind closed doors. Maybe he could have given Calum a good workout. Of course, my hubby's feelings is the Aussie is the Marine's play thing and Nat shouldn't be cock blocking with other options.
-
I'm pretty sure you beta readers would have sent it back by 10K with suggestions to simplify and break up. lol
-
You may not have a physical form here, but with a few words you are seen by so many. As always, beautifully done.
-
Thank you for your wonderful compliment, Story. It makes me happy this story is still bringing enjoyment to people.
-
Thank you, Story. As a writer, it's a treat when my readers pick up some of the smaller details and get such enjoyment out of them.

Thank you so much, Story

Clips from the British comedy Yes, Minister and Yes, Prime Minister have been popping up for me on YouTube lately. They reinforce what you say about the civil service perfectly. It's a fun chapter and the reactions to Home for Warriors is very fitting. As is CJ's interaction with the Marines. He's being praised by the Ambassador, but she's bringing further attention to a cause one of her people was firmly behind.

Thank you, Story. Getting a reaction like that from my readers makes writing a joy. The fact it is still bringing laughter to people several years after posting, is just icing on the cake for me.

Another great chapter as CJ's plot of world domination takes shape. Doesn't hurt either there's hot guys rolling around in the mud.
