Thank you so much, AC. It should read that way since it was a complete day lived The hard part was narrowing it down to just a few poems. Having fun in life and having fun on paper are two very wonderful things.
Thank you, Backwoods! A couple groves of the Tamarack are still the beautiful gold. I'm enjoying my Christmas present early and the fact it's 60 degrees warmer than last Christmas. lol.
Thank you, tim. If it hadn't been for your encouragement and the guidance of AC, I wouldn't be able to express my thoughts or happiness in this form.
Love you too!! Hugz!
Thank you, Molly. The snow falling as we arrived was beautiful. It kept my mind off when the car would eventually stop moving. The not knowing what would happen at the door... I was ready to get in the car and head home.
A new days begins
The sun’s rest not finished
But duties await
One more sip of hot coffee
As icy morning air greets me
******
Mounting the horses
For a ride towards the dawn
Fields shrouded in grey mist,
A sliver of light greets us,
As Nature welcomes today
******
The herd is spread out
The work of the day now starts
Cattle snort and moo
We drive them across vast fields
To a new place they can feed
Thank you Molly His father extended his hand to shake. When I grasp it, he surprised me by pulling me into a hug. The man is huge compared to me and I had never seen him before. I appreciate that moment now so much more than at the time.
Those bits and bobs, stray dots and "T's" can be annoying little buggers sometimes. Every time I read something of yours, it fixes something for me and brings a little order to a chaotic world. A big virtual hug goes to you, and I've given several to others in person.
Thank you, Jeff. It was fun to write. I'd forgotten to post it last year and when I remembered, the season had passed. For someone who is uncomfortable with the idea of family, they made me feel welcome. Made me part of the family.
It has been a year
And again we’re here
Back in this frigid place
Yet warmth abounds
And love surrounds
As I’m pulled into a tight embrace
There is no fear
Like there was last year
Your family has become my happy space
Snow capped peaks surround.
Silent sentinels watching;
Protecting the lands,
And streams flowing below them;
As wondrous awe consumes me.
******
A familiar road –
Cattle grazing on one side
Across from horses;
Several whinny and some snort,
Welcoming you and me home.
******
You see me tapping away,
Trying to capture my thoughts.
Glancing around I take in what I see.
Beauty surrounds on all sides
As we head to
