I think one of the best things about sharing stories is that every reader, at home in his or her imagination, sees a slightly different movie. In that respect, we are all participants in writing the tale. Fun, huh?

Not at all. I grew up in a household where both parents watched old TV and movies, and I became one of them. By the time I was ten years old in 1977, I knew Bogart and Bacall, Red Skelton, Jack Benny, The Lone Ranger, Robby the Robot, Quasimodo, Sidney Carton, Robin and Marion, Ben Hur, Spartacus, and a zillion others that my peers had never heard of. One of my dad's favorite westerns is Shane, and it became one of my favorite westerns, despite the fact that it was made nearly 25 years before I was born. So the statement doesn't date me for age, I think, so much as for age of interest. Modern movies are very good. But old movies are great!

Exactly. Anyone with any kind of talent usually gets better with time. The more they love what they do, the easier progress often comes to them. Elves love being elves. What more needs to be said?

Why would the guys getting better abilities bother the elves? They already know that Charlie and company won't use them to create mischief. And Nicholas is still the top dog user, and Robin Hood a close second. So far.

I loved the World of Tiers series. There is no intentional parallel, but it's impossible to read sci-fi and fantasy for my entire life without having it hijack a few brain cells here and there.

The alien was fast. In the blink of an eye, his pistol was coming up from its holster... And then the fellow froze, a look of pure astonishment on his face.
