There are some legal rulings that have legitimized taking pictures in a public place. Aiming cameras ONTO someone's private property should be considered an invasion of privacy, as should be pointing cameras at people who expressly tell you not to. But these sorts of issues seem to have been dealt with differently in different jurisdictions by different courts. Believe me when I say there are no cameras here but my own. There may be cameras on my neighbor's houses, but I really can't see my neighbor's houses from my own. I live in an Adirondack inholding surrounded by a few zillion acres of pristine forest. Unless the squirrels have cameras I don't know about, mine are it!

Jason's parents wouldn't be home from work for some hours yet. He usually started dinner for the family because he was there, but it wasn't an assigned job, and whoever got home first - his mom or his dad - would start the evening meal if Jason wasn't there to do it. More often than not he was, feeling it a small contribution to family life, and one that greatly eased the strain on his parents, who were almost always tired when they got in. Jason's older brother, Matthew, attended UCLA, an

Or, maybe he values his privacy?

Amazing, the way you do that!

Hey, buddy! Glad to see you back! Well, the only stories I don't have here are some of the challenge tales. I may bring some more over. I plan to include a link at the end of the story to the picture. I've been to skate parks, so I know the atmosphere. When my son was young, he got into skateboarding, and I sort of found myself drawn into it with him. I very nearly killed myself a couple of times, but it was a blast! My board is still in the garage, and I will occasionally roll down the driveway to get the mail. But that's about my speed, these days! 😁

I happen to live in a place where the only cameras are on my own house, and I mostly use them to keep tabs on what the critters are doing on my property. There are cameras in the city, and I just don't pay attention to them. Officialdom likes to watch. But I would not care for some perfect stranger to aim a camera at me and take my picture. I find that different from surveillance cameras. Having a stranger point a camera is intrusive, and I'd consider it an invasion of privacy, and I would object to it. I guess we're all different. But I didn't find Ray's objection out of line at all. Maybe just the way he handled it! Uh...I won't say any more on the relationships between the characters here, because the end of the story will do that for me!

Yes, this is one of a number of challenge stories I never posted here. Some seem unsuitable for this site, but a few, like this one, may come over shortly.

Now there's a great line! 'These moments tie your tongue and here, made more than his foot goofy.' I agree that these love-at-first-sight moments can strike hard. I recall one from my teen years, myself. Sigh. Skateboarding is really an interesting sub-culture, in that many of the earliest practitioners are still around, grinding the rails with the newbies. The one about the old soldiers never dying can easily be applied to those on wheels!

This is the only skateboard story I've done. This story is actually two years old. It's among a half-dozen or so I just realized I never posted at GA. The story you're thinking of was a Charmed entry, The Charm of the Sea and the Sky, set in and around San Diego. Good memory. One of the characters was a skateboarder, but the story, itself, was not about the subject. This one only has three parts. Short, and, I hope, sweet! 😄

The Christmas Charlie Boone should start next week. This one was just sort of a whim! Funny, how skate park memories seem to be shared by so many!

A story based in the world of skateboarding, about learning love, and accepting fate.

"What's your name, kid?" "Jason Beribow. But my friends call me Goofy-foot." "Oh, yeah? I think I heard about you. The picture taker, right?" Jason beamed. "That's me." The man nodded, and pointed down at Jason's flame-printed socks and Converses. "Like the look." But then his smile changed to a thoughtful frown. "Goofy-foot, huh? I never could get the hang of that, myself. I gotta lead my board with my left foot or I get into trouble." He laughed. "You don't?" "Not w

I just got back from Amsterdam today, and have been up 21 hours. I can hardly type! So trying to concentrate on this one, and form a lucid response...nah!

PT Prompts 1 and 2 - A Visit from a Friend
Geron Kees commented on Valkyrie's story chapter in PT Prompts 1 and 2 - A Visit from a Friend
I should have asked you once before if you actually use the term, 'Shitfuckcrapfarts!' in real life...and in public! -
I never boldly steal what has already been stolen before...if I can help it. I have read just a TON of sci-fi and fantasy in my lifetime. I don't want to be swiping ideas from other authors, but in the melting pot of the imagination, it can be hard to be totally original because there are already so many other people's imaginings in there. I was aware that desert sailing ships had been used in older stories, and who can forget Philip Jose Farmer's THE GREEN ODYSSEY, which centers around wind-powered sailing ships on wheels on a planet totally covered by tall grass? I tried NOT to make my desert clippers like any I have read about. But I cannot guarantee they have not been done before. The word 'steal' is perhaps too strong for many cases of idea duplication in fiction. That implies a conscious intent to lift ideas from other writers. Imagination deals in generalities, and tapping the well will almost always draw waters that have been tasted before. I'd prefer to feel I build with the blocks of imagination that others may have used before me, but that the things I create can hopefully stand alone. And speaking of imagination, I want to note the passing of sci-fi author Greg Bear, who surely was gifted with his own fine share of the stuff.

Ah, grasshopper, all your questions will be answered in the next installment...should I figure it all out, myself!
-
The ship of the desert (not a camel) is a fairly old sci-fi concept. Star Wars just borrowed from what had come before. Most sci-fi is derivative now, even if the writer has no idea the concept has been used.

The next act begins now!

Depends on what brand of electronics your foot runs on, too!

Thank you. I don't know how I missed the comments here. I usually get an email notification if someone comments. I need to check the entire story now!

He has very reasonable rates!

All's fair in love and Charlie Boone!

Elves get busy at Christmas. Did Robin have any kids in his 800 years? Surely he HAD to! 😁 Hmm. I haven't quite figured out who all should be along in the Christmas story. You know the old saying, 'three's a crowd'? Well, twelve's a herd! 😉 So we'll see what happens!

That's the spirit!

I didn't mean it as a dig. Maybe I should have said, 'Prodded your imagination a little, huh?"
