  1. They were asleep when the big voice called to them. Charlie woke with a start, and Kippy immediately took a big, startled breath. "What's going on?" "Amtapora called to us." Charlie leaned over and waved a hand at the nightstand beside the bed, and the room lit softly. "Yes, Amtapora?" "I have brought us to a halt well outside the destination system, Charlie. I think you should come to the command chamber for a briefing." Charlie sat up, and threw the covers off them. Their cabin
  2. They quickly determined that the seats had no back for a definite reason. One could sit facing inward, and converse easily, mentally or verbally, with those seated with him. But it now seemed apparent that the ship's operators could also turn about and easily view everything happening around the ship. The holo projections were so good it was like floating on a platform in open space. The deck below them had darkened in color, but not disappeared totally, giving them at least a sense that they we

What sort of solar sails did you use?

    Chapter 3

Quantum life like shipminds apparently communicate at the quantum level, where language is not required. I'm sure that all those you mentioned will get a chance to see the new ship in later stories. You know that Sefton is going to want to get a ride in her!

    Chapter 3

Even ship's like Pacha's ship, and their own Lollipop, have more than one port for a shipmind. Seems the empire standard is four. That was established so far back in the series that I nearly forgot it, myself!

    Chapter 3

    You've been a shipmind before, haven't you?

    Chapter 3

I just looked it up on Duck Duck Go, and the only thing that came up was chapter three of this story.

    Chapter 3

That was sort of my first reaction, too!
  13. Edrich set the ship down on a wide plain within a valley edged by the jagged peaks of mountains. Charlie could tell by the way those peaks presented themselves that they had never once been exposed to an atmosphere that could wear at them over time. Whatever the fragment had once been a part of, it had not been a living world as they knew it. Edrich had brought them down far from the edges of the fragment, and there were no clues here to the tremendous forces which had surely once sundered this

It s my happy habit to produce stories that I like, myself. You guys just came along and happened to enjoy the same stuff I do! But I love sharing these adventures with all of you. Thanks, guys.

    Chapter 2

That's actually a great idea. But no one thought they'd be buying a ship quite like this one.

It will take you 'up, up, and away!'

    Chapter 2

Makes sense to me that by the 28th CB story, they should at least have a second car in the garage!

    Chapter 2

Elias said he would give them the coordinates of his homeworld. That's what they're working with now.

    Chapter 2

Agreed. Charlie is also conscious of the fact that the money they have belongs to all of them, too,

    Chapter 2

I guess they'll do a little snooping, ask some questions, and find answers, like they usually do!

    Chapter 2

That's what I was thinking. It's about time the guys bought a second ship for their own use. Their businesses have grown to where they can afford it~

    Chapter 2

    Well, um. no.

    Chapter 2

The stories focus on specific adventures the guys have. But as with any group of lives, there are always things happening that don't get recorded. I would imagine they come and go to Engris and Lyrgris with much more regularity than is suggested by the individual stories. You'd think they'd visit Rip Shannon now and then, the lower level, friends all over space and time, and just hang out at the office or in their home. The stories now are mostly logs of their Third Planet Inquiries projects. So, let's assume that they see Kiernan more often than suggested, and that he and his sister, both, have visited Engris, at the least,
  25. Browbeat, who had watched the initial meeting in the conference room with the elder Elias Grampet on a monitor from the bored room, was present in person for the meeting with Elias the Younger. Charlie figured that whatever was going on with their new visitor, he seemed not to be someone that would be startled by any sort of unusual presence or appearance now. Charlie also felt the more formal setting of the company conference room was not needed here. The bored room would do just fine. The
