I just pictured it a two people who once loved each other who grew apart, and then grew to resent and hate the other. And is anybody ever really ready to have kids?

Danny's a little bit self-centered, but then, so is Jake. Jake was like, "Cool! You got dumped so now you can hang out with me! (and only me...)

Your hidden comments might play out! I just love flawed characters! So much fun to play with! I mean, sure, Danny is kind of a jerk for ditching Jake for Kayla. But Jake might be just a little bit of a jerk for being happy about his best friend's being dumped.

If he were younger, the temptation might be there for him to play his parents against each other. When divorce happens, there's good and bad on both sides. I tried to display that here. Jake's dad was a terrible husband, but he seems to be a good father. His mom is a good mom who took her ex-husband to the cleaners in the divorce out of spite and pettiness. Jake realized he was wrong when he called his mother stupid. I really enjoyed writing Jake all through this chapter. Everything seemed to click for me as I wrote out the divorce of his parents. He's a little bit of a mix of WAR's Big 3, yet he's his own person. I'm looking forward to seeing where he takes me.

Bet if you take a look at your local school district's staff you'll see a lot of last names that are the same as the members of the board...

Would you say Danny is stringing Jake along a little bit?

Oh yes! Some friends of mine are going through this! True story. The titular "string" of the story! Maybe if he hadn't yelled it across the gym he might have gotten away with it. Thank you so much! It's giving me something to do.

“Jake, time to wake up!” my mom shouted through my bedroom door at me. I rolled myself out of bed and rubbed my eyes. Time for another day of school. Months had passed since Danny and I had had our little encounter on that late Friday night in October. Now it was early April and we were in the home stretch to finish up school after Easter break. Danny and I had both grown about an inch or two since then. I was beginning to need to shave more than once every other week. I took a quick shower and

Thanks BigBen! You know what kind of inspired me? Breath of the Wild. Events happened long ago and things have yet to recover, even years later. No memories, just legends. Hope you'll like the ride!

Just because Dustin missed with the desk doesn't mean... Nah! There was a young man out there with a very incriminating recording of Mr. Hartley though... Whatever happened, it burned the town out on the whole "gay issue" to the point that just bringing up starting a new Alliance is cause for alarm. Haven't quite decided how it will all play out. You've given some good suggestions though!

Thanks! That's a cool connection! This episode certainly makes me wonder how many times Danny might have "made a deposit" in that hot tub, and who added all that chlorine! Glad to have you along for the ride. Let's see where it goes!

I totally thought about having the Rossi family live in Brett's old house! Would have been too weird though! The boys aren't necessarily remembering Billy and Brett's adventures. There was another...

Glad to help out the cause with something fun to read while we wait to be set free! You are correct. Billy's gang graduated in 2005, Aiden in 2007. Now we're in 2015. We'll see how writing without a net goes! I'm used to having several chapters ready. 😅

I haven't decided yet, I just know that after ten years he's long gone, but the damage he did is still being felt. Glad to be back. Gives us something to do instead of being bored and reading news reports!

“And the final score, Pittsburgh Central Catholic 45, Mon Valley 0.” The announcer’s voice echoed over the loud speaker as Central Catholic’s fans pelted those of us in the Mon Valley High School band with popcorn and empty drink cups. We quickly did our best to escape to the safety of the parking lot where our bus was waiting to carry us back to safety. “We used to be kings of this conference, Jake,” my best friend Danny Rossi said to me as we fled from Central Catholic’s stadium. I s

    String

Jake Finnegan is your typical high school boy trying to do well in school and stay out of trouble. Danny Rossi is Jake's best friend. Jake is gay. Danny is straight. At least, that's what they think. How long will Danny string Jake along as he tries to figure it out? Just a little something to pass the time while we're in lockdown.

Thanks Spikey! You know the true admiration and respect I have for you and your always insightful comments. I always have enjoyed seeing what you've had to say, and you've helped me to become a better writer. It's an honor to be able to do this. I'm grateful for it all! As you said, the true ending is at the park ten years later. I hope this was a fun way of helping bridge the gap between Commencement and Dustin's World. Be well, my friend!

Thanks bud! Since he's the most heartless (ironic...) character in the story, just imagine him home alone somewhere, scheming and planning his next evil plot!
