If he were younger, the temptation might be there for him to play his parents against each other. When divorce happens, there's good and bad on both sides. I tried to display that here. Jake's dad was a terrible husband, but he seems to be a good father. His mom is a good mom who took her ex-husband to the cleaners in the divorce out of spite and pettiness. Jake realized he was wrong when he called his mother stupid. I really enjoyed writing Jake all through this chapter. Everything seemed to click for me as I wrote out the divorce of his parents. He's a little bit of a mix of WAR's Big 3, yet he's his own person. I'm looking forward to seeing where he takes me.

Oh yes! Some friends of mine are going through this! True story. The titular "string" of the story! Maybe if he hadn't yelled it across the gym he might have gotten away with it. Thank you so much! It's giving me something to do.

“Jake, time to wake up!” my mom shouted through my bedroom door. I rolled out of bed and rubbed my eyes. Time for another day of school. Months had passed since Danny and I had our little encounter on that late Friday night in October. Christmas and Easter had come and gone, and we were in the home stretch of our freshman year. I had both grown about an inch since then, Danny had grown two. I was beginning to need to shave more often than every other week. I took a quick shower and got dressed.

Just because Dustin missed with the desk doesn't mean... Nah! There was a young man out there with a very incriminating recording of Mr. Hartley though... Whatever happened, it burned the town out on the whole "gay issue" to the point that just bringing up starting a new Alliance is cause for alarm. Haven't quite decided how it will all play out. You've given some good suggestions though!

Glad to help out the cause with something fun to read while we wait to be set free! You are correct. Billy's gang graduated in 2005, Aiden in 2007. Now we're in 2015. We'll see how writing without a net goes! I'm used to having several chapters ready. 😅

Thank you! It's been a lot of fun, this time in particular. Getting outside of the BBD trio and playing in their sandbox with different folks was fun. I like when readers get invested and are passionate about their favorites. While I think everyone should read Dustin's World, I will warn you that I put him through the crucible and it can be hard to see him hit rock bottom. But rock bottom is a great place to build a firm foundation! If Aiden's War was light and fun, Dustin's World can be very dark and heavy. But for folks on Team Brett, I think DW is Brett's finest moment. "Mature Brett" is the best Brett! I hope you'll give it a read. And it ends happily ever after.

Thank you! You read the whole thing in like a week! I can't tell you how much I appreciate you! I would imagine Hartley's self-destruction will look much like the other times he's ruined himself. He'll mess with the wrong person, maybe Mr. Taylor won't appreciate his son being taken advantage of, and he'll "resign." Then on to the next town.
