I think we'll see the deeper connection between Ryan and Jake begin to grow. They kind of got thrown together by Danny to try to alleviate some of Danny's guilt over the way he's behaved.

Difference between Danny and Billy - Billy would have just done it and regretted it later. Jake might think about doing something, but he can control his impulses and anger, unlike Billy.

I enjoy a long winded post! When I think about Jake, everything stems from his family breaking up. He can't lose Danny. Danny was the string that held him together when everything was falling apart. Anytime something threatens that relationship, he acts out of fear of losing the one thing he can't lose. I think the next chapter may shed some light on Danny's confusion regarding his relationships. And of course, Ryan has his own baggage. Did his mom really text him to tell him it was time to leave, long before the party ended?

The most research I've done for this story was making sure I got the lingo correct for Ryan and Jake's chat. Like, was "yeet" still considered something cool to say in 2017? It was actually becoming a little bit passe by then, hence Jake thinking Ryan was a dork. The work I do for my art... 😉

I'd like to think Danny is being sincere with his treatment of Jake. He doesn't mean to hurt him, but he can't give Jake what he wants, or be who Jake wants him to be.

Yes, as soon as Jake said the L word he realized he was in trouble. He quickly changed from "I love you" to "I love this" but the ball had already started rolling. Jake can't help it that he wants what he wants, but neither can Danny. He clearly enjoys what he does with Jake, but he wants something else.

We knew Danny was going to break Jake's heart eventually. Kinda sad to watch it happen though.
