  1. Ewe need to be careful where you poke. There's lots of goat doo-doo around GA. I have seen your stories on Nifty and also welcome you! Jack
  2. Putin seems intent on resurrecting a Soviet Union in a streamlined 21st Century form. I fear he's deep in devious skulduggery. The gay community is probably an annoyance to him. Jack
  3. Okay, guys...get a room. Have fun in SF. Jack
  4. Chris has just received his new clothes and is preparing them for wearing in the next chapter. 'With my web power, I don't have to worry about running out of gas,' he thought. 'Hope they don't make fun at me when I do a spidey swoop, web thingy at the pool party. Veronica, eat your heart out. Wonder if Steve will like the new me?'
  5. Okay, for senior citizens who are a little dense, could you go over the whole 'blood' thing again. Eric is the Piedmont sheriff's son? Does this mean that the bad-guy sheriff and Mrs. Williams had an affair somewhere along the way? Signed, Confused
  6. Hi, Matt! Welcome to GA. There are tons of stories of every genre at this site. Maybe your boyfriend will even find something that he fancies. A real crowd-pleaser series that's running in eFiction is For the Love by CJames. Check it out. Look over LittleBudda TW's stories. His last novel, Somewhere Out of the Blue, was very popular. Hope you become active in the forums. Jack
  7. So, my question is this: how important is sexual orientation in terms of 'the whole person'? First, welcome to GA! I don't think labels mean much but "being sexual" without boundries seems to be pretty 'bi' to me. Like Drewbie says, I acknowledge being a gay man if I'm asked...end of story. However, I also will admit that my social life is almost exclusively with other gay and lesbian friends. When you live in a community like Palm Springs (40% + of the population is GLBT) that's easy to do. And I believe that "safety in numbers" is a valid philosophy. Camy's reaction is probably the most realistic. The package loves come in is not the same for everyone. Look forward to reading your story. Strongly suggest you make your sig a marketing tool for your story with the link. It takes a lot of whistles, flashing lights and drum-beating to get a reader following. Jack
  8. What an educational process we have on the thread. I'd always thought the expression was "just deserves" and was prompted to reference the Urban Dictionary: Just Desserts Def: what is coming to them; what "they" deserve. Example: She ran over my cat, but got her just desserts when she was hit by a bus. Whatever the case, dear Eric has a whole lot of aches coming his way. Let's consider an abbreviated alleged list: Extortion Grand Theft - several counts Trafficking porn involving minors Possession of stolen credit cards Attempted murder Assault (what he did before he shot the cop) Battery (having shot the cop) Resisting Arrest Fleeing from authority (LVPD will get him on this one) Conspiracy to commit murder in the first degree Conspiracy to commit murder in the second degree Reckless discharge of a weapon with intent to harm Possession of narcotics (with intent to sell?) (Edited with Bondwriter and Allie's additional comments.) I'm sure I've forgotten a few more offenses this pile of jackal droppings has committed. Is it possible Eric will meet the ultimate "just desserts" at some point? Hmmm. If my calculations are correct, CJ has this timed so that the story will be resolved by Labor Day. Phew...I hope Steve and Chris have time for a little intimacy in the process. And will Thaddeous have a memorial service for Jerry Falwell? Jack
  9. Okay...I confess to having a crush on a new single neighbor. He's intelligent, has a sparkling personality and pretty nifty looking. JL is gay, 33 and has custody of his five-year old daughter every other week. From what I observe around the condo pool, he's a terrific parent. HOWEVER, there is too much of an age difference for me to go into hot pursuit. I did tell him that if he added 10 years and I subtracted 20 years, he would be fair game. Oh, confession #2. At the supermarket a while ago, I snapped off a long stem off of broccoli - it was priced as a crown and I didn't want to pay for the extra. Now I've got to figure out where I'm going to spend that 13 cents savings. Jack
  10. Happy 30th! MYR Welcome to the first phase of the "over the hill' crowd. And, separately, thanks for creating such a significant site. Best, Jack
  11. This is very introspective thread. I suspect that we all have at least a couple of faces. You're a lawyer, Mark, and have to play several roles on a daily basis. I was in the restaurant business - which I loved - and was interacting with hundreds of people each evening. 99% of the people were fabulous. And I always enjoyed a little eye candy when a group of Marines from Twentynine Palms or stud muffins from LA/Orange County came in. Once I figured things out sexually - I was a late bloomer - it took a long time for me to be honest with others. I finally developed a stance where I never brought up the "G" word but never denied my sexuality if asked. One regret was never coming out to my mother (she has since passed away). I was the only child and I suspected, from her comments, that she wouldn't approve. I know...maybe it was cowardly on my part, but it was a different era. Jack
  12. Here's an image I have of SUPER CHRIS! Fun chapter.
  13. I don't know about the "L" thing, but here's a lucious quote from Patty Hearst (courtesy of Towleroad): "I must say that my heart goes out to the inmates of the Century Regional Detention Center. Forty-five days with Paris Hilton and the attendant publicity seems like cruel and unusual punishment to me. Perhaps THEY should be petitioning the Governor for relief?" And the beat goes on. Jack
  14. Damn, #2. Celebrating an Aussie's birthday on the Aussie clock. I'm sure your many fans and friends will be posting to this thread for the next day. In Hawaii, it's only early afternoon the day before your birthday. Happy Birthday! Many, many more to a good friend and very talented author! Jack p.s. I'm in the "x3" category.
  15. Thought this said it all: Paris in the springtime is beautiful; Paris in jail is hot! Jack
  16. In the U.S., three cable news networks have redefined the news cycle. They've got a lot of time to fill 24/7 and reporting the antics of this gutter-slime crowd sells. Look at the Internet and the You-Tube phenom. David Hasselhoff, anyone? This site. BTW, will play a big part in the 2008 elections. TMZ created the firestorm around Michael Richards' racist comments on stage. Bad, bizarre behavior fascinates. The public like watching a celebrity train wreak. "Ladies and men of the jury, I give you Anna Nicole Smith and rest my case." In the U.K., you have the likes of Pete Doherty and Kate Moss...and hunky Prince Harry's antics have made world headlines. The Hollywood trash include Paris, Lindsey Lohan, Brittany (and her creepy, parasitic ex-husband)...and the beat goes on. Here's a piece of dialog from a new story I'm working on: Like Brittany or Paris flashing their shaved crotches is considered
  17. Just when you thought your family was safe...they're back. Bring on "The Guns of Piedmont".
  18. Excellent taste! Jesse as eye candy really helps when I'm navigating through another convoluted "House" plot. Jack
  19. By the time the dew on the berries evaporates under tomorrow's morning sun, Mr. Nickolas James will have logged in 1,500 postings at GA. I congratulate my fellow Hosted Author and dare him to even remotely come close to CJ in lurking posts! If we could only bottle Nick's energy. Best always, Jack
  20. Terrific poem, Luc. Here's some lyrics from Dan Fogelberg that touch me: You've climbed your way to the top, but lately it seems That there's a hole in the heart of the American dream Sitting pretty in your trophy room With your shining souvenirs That just remind you of the wasted time And the lateness of the years Is that all? Is that all there is? Is that all? There must be more than this In the eyes of the world your touch is like gold Your reputation's so cool and cruel and controlled In a moment it could all be gone In the twinkling of an eye Then what's your pile of precious pride worth then? If you've ever wondered why Is that all? Is that all there is? Is that all? There must be more than this Is that all? Is that all there is? Is that all? There must be more than this More than this Is that all there is? All there is? I'm actually pretty happy at the person I see - although there are some regrets. I've reached and surpassed my professional life goals...but I can't help but wonder, "Is That All There Is?" I gaze at my face and wonder if I'll find Mr. Right...again? The minor aches and pains that accompany getting up in the morning are a nuisance that one accepts. The one thing that's annoying is how fast ear hair grows as a male gets older. So, I guess if that's one of the few things I can bitch about when I look at my reflection, life is in pretty good shape. Perhaps the Peggy Lee song summed it up best: Is that all there is? If that
  21. A BIG WELCOME, Thornton! Get your required five forum postings out of the way and join the fray. The writing and editing forums are well worth reading. Your contributions are encouraged. I hope you use the personal photo/artwork as your avatar. I'm really curious about a smoking, gun-toting, hot dog with an eyepatch image. Also, Thornton, give us a hint about your location. Look forward to reading your stories. Jack
  22. Duh...I finally get it! Rather that fret about this story careening into a continuing series of unbelievable situations, the reader should consider For The Love a gay version of a Hardy Boys (or Nancy Drew so not be accused of being sexist) thriller go with the flow. The story is fun and, while totally unrealistic, a marvelous read. The annoying cliffhangers are part of the craziness that reminds me of the Saturday morning serial movies I went to as a young boy. Just wish there was a popcorn machine nearby. Jack
  23. This topic was on Com's site and I thought it might be fun to seek participation in The Lounge. I hesitate to mention who first wound my clock because it really dates me And I really didn't have things worked out in my mind as to why I was turned on. The subject should be fun because GA members represent such a broad mix of ages, tastes and locations. I am offering two. Then (my first) had to be Tab Hunter! Now (currently) is Skeet Ulrich (Jericho lead). Jack
  24. This avatar represents the writing part of my life. The stops, turns, questions and doubts that I experience when developing a story. But then the avatar could also represent life's challenges in general? As long as I keep taking two steps forward and only one step back, I'm a happy camper. Jack
  25. Waiting for another blender of margaritas. Jack
