  1. Happy Birthday, Conner! Here's to many more. I won't add "old goat" in the spirit of not throwing rocks at windows. Jack
  2. Right...and the image below is my real picture. Come on CJ, let's see the authentic, human GA mountaineer who fearlessly stalks his prey in the rugged terrain of Arizona.
  3. "Yes," to the first part. "Hopefully," to the second. In Palm Springs, there are telephone numbers posted. Larry Craig...don't reply. Conner, where's your picture? Jack
  4. Had to share with you the results of my final summer project: painting (well, having it painted) the bedroom Hunting Coat Red. It took five gallons to get it just right.
  5. As promised, the final part has been posted on Nifty. A very uplifting read and satisfying ending. Jack
  6. ALERT - all Danophiles. Dan Radcliffe will appear on the Ellen show - North America broadcast - this Monday, September 10. Sorry guys...in the promotion clips, Dan is fully clothed. I'm sure he'll discuss Equus and Broadway plans. I salute this handsome guy. He seems to have moved into adulthood without a stumble. It will be interesting to see how he handles a non-Potter screen role. Jack
  7. "Special" comes in many shapes, colors and sizes. Whatever it is, have a great day! Jack
  8. Does anyone else notice that the guys have a common trait with the other story...running around shirtless. Let's have Brandon drooling...treasure trails for days. That is, providing Helen doesn't allow the stylist complete access to all the guy's hair. CJ well represents the composite of "talent" management in Hollywood in the character of Helen. The younger entertainers need a dyke bitch like Helen to guide their lives and protect the assets. Brittany and Lindsey, et al., could use a Helen in their lives. Helen is ruthlessly doing her job. Jack
  9. Nex tells me that all four parts will be posted by week's end. This is more a collection of short stories/essays that work together concerning observations of the lives of patrons who frequent Cinque Ports, a gay pub in Brighton. As usual, this is top quality, engaging writing. http://library.gaycafe.com/nifty/gay/relat...s/cinque-ports/. Jack
  10. In that Senator Craig seems to be having "buyer's remorse" concerning his resignation statement, I thought I'd keep the dialogue alive by posting the humorous column below. Advice professional, Dan Savage, answers a letter from C.A.S.H. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Dan, Lost in the oohing and aahing over the outing of another socially conservative lawmaker
  11. Happy 22nd, Drewbie! Here's to the many fine adventures ahead. Jack
  12. This whole episode has been an eye-opener for me. First, this foot-tapping thing. Then, to read that there's a whole MSM category. Dig deeper, and up comes Down-low. Our community has made great strides since Stonewall in acceptance and this episode doesn't represent, IMHO, any setback for gay issues. It's the political/religious MSM's , embracing the hetero family values dogma, who are in serious conflict. We survived the Catholic priest scandals, Mark Foley and the Rev Haggard. Craig's actions play into the fears of a bigoted crowd...nothing more. Intelligent, thinking people will judge the senator as a person who broke the law. Jack
  13. What Craig probably did, what Haggard admittedly did, what thousands of other wretchedly conflicted gay or bisexual men did, hurt only themselves and their loved ones who were caught up in the resulting media maelstroms. The ones who "outed" and persecuted them, in contrast, have deprived our country of the services of good citizens. This was a rather odd sentence. I have no problem in pointing to Craig and Haggard as troubled, conflicted bigots who couldn't publically acknowledge their orientation. That they resorted to devious means to satisfy sexual needs/gratification is very sad. Worse is their negative public posturing on gay issues. I shook my head while listening to Senator Craig's arrogant resignation statement. This goes unanswered: what were the Minneapolis authorities thinking when they set up a sting operation in the men's room at the airport? Please identify the bible-thumping proscecutor who thought up this lame investigation. I don't condone restroom cruising, but aren't there higher priorities on which the police should focus to protect the citizens? Maybe murder, rape, robbery? Perhaps they could have used the manhours to adequately inspect the infrastructure of their bridges? (With apologies to the loved ones of the deceased...but you get the point). Can you imagine what the cop answered when his S.O. asked over dinner, "What did you do at work today, honey?" Jack
  14. Here's a thoughtful perspective from The Denver Post editorial pages concerning this week's events: http://www.politicswest.com/local_western_...uters_not_outed. Jack
  15. Bourne, Hair Spray and Ratatouille were my favs. The French Rat was thoroughly amusing and I thought it was geared more to an adult audience. Oceans Thirteen - eye candy aside - was pretty lame. Just a bunch of movie stars doing walk-ins to get a fat pay check. Surprised you didn't include Knocked Up. Silly, sophomoric and thoroughly amusing. Jack
  16. How about... OH EWE KIDDS Too esorteric (or neoteric)? Jack
  17. For those following this fascinating story, the latest chapter has been posted. http://www.marquesate.org/special-forces-mercenaries26.html. Very touching, interspersed with mega-action. Jack
  18. HAPPY BIRTHDAY KEVIN/FOXY/CUPCAKES! Goodness, what a variety of names. Just got back from my vacation and glad I made the party. Jack
  19. Happy Birthday Fran
  20. Mega congratulations on becoming the newest GA Hosted Author! Best wishes for the successful continuation of storytelling. Your new story appears to be another winner. Jack
  21. Happy 19th, Jules!! Jack
  22. I was actually offering large portions of tongue in cheek due to CJ's propensity to keep the reader hanging...on occasion. Seriously, the ultimate cliffhanger at the end of a story just occurred on HBO this summer. In the series finale of The Sopranos, it leaves the Soprano family eating dinner at a restaurant waiting on Meadow to arrive, only to have various people in the restaurant looking suspicious, it 'cuts to black'. It was brilliantly spoofed in a political commercial shortly afterwards by Hillary and Bill. Jack
  23. Goodness...a horny, sex-crazed advisor/beta reader? Thanks for the clues, Ieshwar. So the mystery man in the cave must be Eric? How else would a guard still be at the entrance? At the end of Chapter 37, we know blood and guts are flying...but whose? I assume that We'll find that Eric shoots the Piedmont sheriff (his uncle?) to save his brother? I can just hear Eric say, "The devil made me do it," when asked about 37 chapters of misdeeds. I hope Chris has Blue Cross for all his bang-ups. The real challenge is to see how CJ ends the story (Chapter 38?) and manages to use a cliffhanger. Jack
  24. And just think...at no time did his fingers touch to keyboard. Jack
  25. For those who are not familiar with Robbins' (born, 1936) book that Duncan referenced, here is a Wiki synopsis: "Even Cowgirls Get the Blues" tells the story of Sissy Hankshaw, a woman born with a mutation (she would not call it a defect) giving her enormously large thumbs. The novel is a transgressive romp, covering topics from homosexuality and free love to drug use and political rebellion to animal rights and body odor and religions. Sissy makes the most of her thumbs by becoming a hitchhiker. Her travels take her to New York, where she becomes a model for a transvestite feminine hygiene products mogul who introduces her to the man whom she will marry, a staid Mohawk named Julian Gitche. In her later travels she encounters, among many others, a sexually open cowgirl named Bonanza Jellybean and an itinerant escapee from the Japanese internment camps happily mislabeled "the Chink". Robbins finally inserts himself into the novel as a character as well. It was made into a movie in 1993 - directed by Gus Van Sant - with the sound track by k.d. lang. The author is definitely marching to a different beat. I must read Even Cowgirls get the Blues at the earliest opportunity. Jack
