Paranormal is the melting pot of several sub-genres that got large enough to form it's own home. Generally speaking, Paranormal is urban fantasy that limits itself generally to ghosts, vampires, werewolves, shifters, and other creatures. It should be noted that Paranormal has strongly established tropes in its sub-genres. The meta-humans in Paranormal are not typically monsters. You'll find the monster versions of these meta-humans in Horror. Research of your chosen sub-genre is strongly advised. Since it is Halloween season, I will say Tuesday's genre deep dive is Paranormal and I added an appropriate bit if AI art in there. The gothic horror image in the original post was part of the experiment for Tuesday's post.

There is a lot of legal debate over AI art, mostly on how the Artificial Intelligence neural networks are trained. (They get fed existing stuff whole and simulate things.) I'm leaving the debate off to the side, as I have very little visual arts talents. As a write, I draw inspiration from a lot of things, but often it is a picture or something like that. AI art does allow for generating things like prompts. For example, https://bing.com/create allows you to plug in parameters and generate something. I put in "gay young adult men gothic horror" for this. (hint: do not leave out "adult" or you get prohibited... AI likes generating inappropriate material if you leave out 'adult', I guess) What are your thoughts on AI-generated art?

Allan laid down his pencil when he completed his last calculation. The relief he felt at being done with his calculus homework was immense. He experienced precisely five seconds of that relief before his phone buzzed. Brad Jones: Can you come to 5-A346 and check my work? The message was bland and innocuous in case someone else saw it. For Allan, though, it was an order. They’d told him that he would have this semester to himself without pressing assignments beyond evaluating and protec

Allan just wanted to get a bit of rest, get closer to his roommate, but the world had other ideas.

This is the first trailer in quite some time that looks fun. Nobody is in the trailer lecturing the audience for being a white male. If the movie is as interesting as the trailer, I'll even go see it.
