Excellent little piece you've authored here. Titillating and mysterious.

He floats, in and out, Like wings, like dreams Brushing past my skin in vernal touches And savory whispers Swirling in speculation like a leaf caught up in the wind Or a bird circling through the clouds A presence both corporeal and elusive As always, he is tightly bound in an illusion I cannot reach In an existence I cannot share Yet still I cling to the aspiration that one day he will return To brush past my skin in vernal touches And savory whispers. For that, I will pati

Chapter 4 When Worlds Collide
MacGreg commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 4 When Worlds Collide
I am consistently enamored by your deft writing skills, Gary. You just took us 3 years into the future from where we were in the last chapter, and it was as seamless as water. I am absolutely intrigued by Kellar - the lone shifter who has successfully made a way for himself in the world, despite his shocking discovery about himself and the resulting solitude. And now you've added Tobyn into the mix, as well as an indication that there are whole packs of shifters out there in the world! I look forward to learning more about them! -
Wow, thank you so much! I appreciate you taking the time to read all of the chapters up until now, and for leaving such a great review. That means a lot. It has been a bit of a roller coaster ride, and it's not over, so keep your seat belt on. :-) Cheers - Mac

Thank you, Jeffrey! As always, love seeing your comments. Cheers - Mac

The future is in the future. Right now, they're concentrating on the present, trying to get their bearings. These next few days will be very telling as to the path they'll eventually take. Thanks for following along and always offering great comments. I really appreciate it! Cheers - Mac

Hey tim, Thank you for the kind words. The sex was desperate, yes, but they're still in the early stages of feeling great urgency towards each other; their physical connection is a burning ball of fire. At some point, it may cool down. Or not.

Good memory, Gary. Yes, I did say that to you. But that doesn't mean that I NEVER like HEAs. :)Please don't assume that this story will end badly for that reason. However, I won't give anything away, either, as you know. You'll just have to wait and see. And yes, the tenderness was good here. I enjoyed writing that scene a lot. Thanks for the great review. Cheers - Mac

Yes, it probably does feel like they're accelerating towards the edge of something. But whether they both fall or hold on tight to something solid, we shall see. I appreciate your comments, droughtquake, thank you.

Aw, thanks, Val. I feel surrounded by many awesome people on this site. Glad you liked this chapter. Travis is loosening up, allowing deeper feelings for Ben to surface. There is still some of that "will they? won't they? can they?" in the air, but the story ain't over yet. Cheers - Mac

held close with threads of gossamer Beautiful imagery - perfect for the memories of a mother's love. She is depicted as an angel, watching over you. A spiritual presence in the room, enveloping you with her love, even now.

Ben closed his eyes. Leaned his head back against the metal toolbox and allowed the warmth of the midday sun piercing through the thin atmosphere to penetrate his body. In the high altitude, cloudless skies were excruciatingly bright. Despite a cool breeze in the air, the temperature was warm, and he'd already removed his sweater, content to sit in the elements clad only in his cargo pants and undershirt. "You done with this?" Travis inquired, referring to the last few bites of the foot-long

Really great piece. I love the realistic prose and characters. As William said: how many times has something like that happened in my life?

Chapter 46 Soup of the Day
MacGreg commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 46 Soup of the Day
You are not a pawn, my friend, you are still a King. Although the overall theme of this poem is sad (and I get ya), I love how you laid the verse out with matching metered lines. Very well done. Full of rich emotion. As Val said, March will be here soon. Cheers - Mac -
I like how you continue to unfold the mystery of Ryan with little pieces at a time. I don't need to know everything off the bat, I enjoy the unfolding. And I'm looking forward to learning more about Ryan, and, hopefully, more about Erik, too, as we go along. I'm sure Erik has more in his past and in his personal life to be revealed. I'm intrigued by this connection that is slowly forming between the two. It's strained yet sweet. Your writing style is very tight, very controlled. You don't mince words or add a lot of fluff, which mirrors the characters themselves.

Doesn't matter that I don't know you on a personal level, tim. This poem hurts me. Plain and simple. Hugs to you and hugs to Michael for giving you the love and support you need and deserve. Hope you're feeling a little better today. xo

Thank you, Parker! I'm glad that this story touched you. There are definite questions, not enough answers, but as I mentioned in a couple of other replies, it is meant to just be a peek in time, for that moment. Thanks for reading and commenting. Cheers - Mac

Lisa, if I sizzled your computer yet again, I'm sorry (but really, I'm not). And if this also reminded you of Ben and Travis, that's OK. I hadn't considered it when I posted this, but I can certainly see how it could be perceived that way. I didn't share the name of John's friend on purpose. He was meant to remain special. And if it seemed like they'd known each other from a long time ago, they felt that way, too; old souls with a deep connection. Thanks for all of your kind words, Lisa. It means a lot. Cheers - Mac

Thanks for the review, hohochan657. I'm glad to hear about the "feel good" factor. This was meant to be a short story, just a snippet into the moment, but I can assure you that the bond went deeper than a one night stand. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Cheers - Mac

You are in tune with these characters, Gary. Thank you for seeing what you saw in this short piece. I didn't reveal much about who they are on purpose. It's meant to be just a quick snippet into a special moment. This did go beyond mere lust for these two, despite the briefness... Cheers, my friend.

Beautiful poem(s). You know my thoughts on the first one, as described in LPS. The older poem is steeping with longing and melancholy and loneliness and written very beautifully. There are feelings portrayed that so many of us can relate to and have encountered at some point in our lives... that desire to be with someone that we can't be with, although we feel it's our destiny to be with him/her... What I especially love about this poem is the mention of two people being deeply connected at their souls, even though they are apart in real life. Connected through dreams rather than actual events. This makes the loneliness and melancholy feel all the more impacting, and also makes the connection seem stronger (if that's possible...?)

It's great to see the once-bullied Kellar become fierce and take control of his situation. He's thinking very clearly, and very intelligently, through all of this, considering not much time has passed since his initial transformation. His heightened senses and strength must be helping with his clarity of thought. He's taking charge of his life, and not putting up with anymore bullshit - especially from Warren. I'm looking forward to see how this progresses. Thanks for another great chapter. Cheers - Mac

You read well between the lines, tim. Sensed what was implied but not directly told. Thank you for sharing your thoughts on it. xo

He wished now he never seen “Deliverance.” Very impressive story-telling, Gary. You made a fantasy scenario feel real, and that's pretty outstanding in my opinion. You wrote Kellar's thoughts and reactions from the perspective of a teenager, which makes his character authentic. I found it most interesting how his wolf side seemed a little more natural to him than one would think possible at this point; as though, even though he doesn't yet understand his transformation, he's somehow accepting of it (albeit still freaked out). I also found it interesting that he felt much more vulnerable (naked and scared) after he'd returned to his human form. That demonstrates his insecurity as a human but perhaps some boldness as a wolf - even though he has no understanding of it yet. Really great.

Hey Larry, thanks very much for your comments. I hope your imagination treats you well tonight. Cheers - Mac
