Itumak stared out the window in the cabin, taking in the size of the space station they were about to dock in. He hoped Mateio knew where he was going. Without him, they would be hopelessly lost. Lian stood behind him, the Daknar’s head lowered respectfully. He was taller than Itumak in this form, but Itumak knew he towered over the alien in his wolf form. The werewolf still had no idea why his wolf had changed, but as he thought about it, he realized he kind of liked the change. Itumak had

The world was bright beyond Lian’s eyes. The Daknar opened his eyes, staring up into the light that hung from the ceiling above him. He was… alive. Who saved him? That poison should have killed him. Unless… “Can you sit up?” That was the voice of his master. He sounded concerned. But hadn’t he poisoned Lian? Why would he be concerned? The Daknar sat up, his eyes lowered. A soft hand touched his shoulder, another hand raising his chin yet again. “You don’t need to look down al

Mateio mentioned back in chapter three that merlo was safe to eat unless one was a Daknar. That conversation was only a week prior to this chapter.

Lian’s head hit the table hard, startling Itumak and Aaron. Itumak was at his side in an instant, lifting his torso. “Lian?! Lian!” “He’s a Daknar…” Aaron breathed. “Mateio!” A loud curse sounded, the Faro rushing into the kitchen a minute later, rubbing his head. “He ate the salad,” the elf said helplessly. “We need to get him to the health bay,” Mateio said immediately. “Itumak, you carry him. Reinard, set med pod to heal a male Daknar suffering from merlo poisoning.”

So who gets licked first? Twins? Or loup garous?
-
He wanted the creature. And it terrified him. Lian stood against the bed, calves pressing into the side of the bed. He wanted to back up further as the monster faced him, but at the same time, he wanted to embrace the furry beast that stared at him in a mixture of revulsion and lust. Those topaz eyes were on full display as Itumak bent over Lian. The beast pushed Lian over, strangely gentle for his size. Straddling the Daknar, Itumak’s rod pressed against Lian’s gut. Furry hands scra

Such a sad, lonely loup garous. Hopefully these mysterious twins can cheer him up.

“I don’t think I have ever been so happy to see a town in my life,” Margaret said, as they passed the inn. The group rode toward the town hall and dismounted in front of the wooden steps. The mayor came walking in their direction, looking more positive than he had the last time they’d seen him. “Are they dead?” he asked immediately. “No sir,” Jakni said. “Most of our group was wiped out by a horde in the forest.” The mayor’s face fell instantly. “How many were killed?” he ask

Aaron walked up the flight of stairs on Mateio’s ship, exploring the hall leading to the kitchen. Several doors sat closed on either side of the hall and the elf stopped in front of the furthest one. A sensor sat on the wall next to the door and Aaron waved his hand in front of it curiously. The door slid open with a quiet hiss, revealing a small cabin with a desk and a bed inside. A window beside the bed showed the darkness of space as they flew, stars forming pinpricks in the distance.

This chapter has been edited to update a character's name.

The mayor was standing on the front steps of the town hall, directing groups of people. He noticed the group of fighters and motioned them towards him. “We don’t see many elves around here, especially now,” he said. “These people killed at least forty kobolds, all on their own,” the old man told him. “Impressive. Tell me more,” the mayor said, turning to the group. They glanced at each other. “Um, we were just here for the night, and we heard the bell. I was in a room at the

Thomas squinted, his eyes assaulted by a bright light. He was standing in the middle of a rather large dirt road, and there were four others standing slack-jawed around him. He felt like he knew them all somehow, but he couldn't grasp any kind of memory. “Where the hell am I?” he heard one of them demand. He looked his companions over. The man, or elf, who had just questioned them was an interesting shade of medium brown, bordering on a dark brown. He had white hair that hung just past h

A group of people find themselves in the middle of a road with no recollection of where they are or how they got there. Soon they discover that their lack of memory is more nefarious than just a group of amnesiacs out for a walk. Getting their memories back is just the first step they must take on a long road that might see the end of their lives.

Lian sat in his cage, shivering in the chillness of the station. It was hard to stay warm, and often he felt like just going to sleep in the cage. But his captors constantly shocked him awake. When he had been captured, he had entertained thoughts of using that damned remote of theirs on them, But he knew better now. There was no way to remove his collar and no way to steal the remote. A young Faro had taught him that, and it had cost the fox his life. There was no way Lian was making that mista

Change is often slow to come. Especially when a writer needs a plot device or two.

Having others on his ship wasn’t much different than being on his own, Mateio reflected tiredly. They were speeding through space, no more than five hours from Port Grathur. Aaron was still asleep, and the Faro felt guilty at how relieved he was. He didn’t know how to handle the elf now. How does one deal with someone who has lost their entire family in the span of five minutes? The Faro sat in the med bay, staring at the screen that listed all the different attributes within Aaron’s DNA. H

That is a good point. I'll try to clarify a bit. Neistar is basically Reinard's brother, however Faro have only one gender so they don't have gendered terms. Ceirel is his Mara, which means that Ceirel gave birth to Reinard,, ie is his "mother". Segal refers to the one who gave Cierel his seed so Reinard could be born.

The woman covered her body, staring at Aaron and Itumak. “Where… what…?” “You’re in an alien spaceship. You tried to kill the captain, I bit you, he healed you. And you can’t go home because our planet just got invaded by aliens who want to enslave or kill us,” Aaron intoned drily. The ship was heating up and he felt a bead of sweat running down his chest. He wiped it off distractedly, placing his hand back on Itumak, who lay on his side, whimpering quietly. “Hang in there. M

Simon dropped the purse next to the woman, his eyes staring Tristan down. “You’re bleeding…” He shrugged at the woman’s concern. It wasn’t his blood, but he couldn’t really tell her that. “He put up a bit of a fight, but I got it back,” he said. “Are you going to be okay?” Tristan asked the human. She nodded, clutching her purse like a piece of driftwood in the middle of an ocean. “You should head home. And be careful where you walk.” Simon could hear the change in Tr

Simon hurt. A lot. His entire body felt like it was asleep, except his chest, and that was full of pins and needles. He couldn’t hear anything, couldn’t smell, and he wasn’t sure if his eyes were open or not. But even worse than that was the fact that he didn’t seem to be breathing. Simon sucked in a huge breath of air, a silent whimper escaping him as he felt the agony of his lungs inflating. The needles spread from his chest through his gut, circling back up into his head. Suddenly he

Aaron was woken five hours later by Captain Darren, the human’s hand gently rousing the tired elf. “Your Majesty, you need to get up. The Council of Lords will be expecting you in an hour.” Aaron groaned tiredly, sitting up. He was on the verge of asking if he had to meet with the council, but he knew he did. “I brought you your clothes. Itumak explained you didn’t have any,” Darren said. “And we found the person responsible for the poison. Lady Tieran.” Aaron was instantly a

He stared at the screen blankly. It had been so long since his last job search, and Simon felt overwhelmed. Where should he start? He had taken long enough getting over the issue of using another person’s computer and he wanted to get something done before Tristan got back. Did he need a resume? Should he even try for a job in a career that was no doubt dominated by women? Sighing, he decided to at least look at the job opportunities. Typing on the keyboard, he was surprised to find a lo

Simon sat on the bed, staring blankly at the door to the room. He was really doing this. Tristan promised he could leave the house at any time. He was not a prisoner. But he also told Simon there was a camera hidden somewhere in his room that Tristan could use to check in on him. The man advised him to do his changing in the bathroom. He had no idea why Tristan had a camera in his guest bedroom, but to each their own, he supposed. If the guy wanted to get his rocks off by watching Simon,

Assassination of the Heart
Yeoldebard commented on Yeoldebard's story chapter in Assassination of the Heart
The attempted poisoning took place in Chapter 2. You caused a bit of a scare there.
