I keep on seeing hopes for a “Miles redemption” when inherently Miles is not a bad guy. Miles grew up with negligent parents and then an abusive household, he found a family and man (boy at the time) that I believe he still loves, but he came to them separately and broken; Miles reacted to his trauma the way he reacted to his trauma….it was hurtful, it was selfish, it doesn’t negate the love he felt and still feels for those he left behind. He didn’t know how to love well, even though he was finally well loved. I'm not going to throw stones at Miles, I’m just going to hope Robbie and therapy taught him how to love better….Marco Polo looks like a good start.

As a New York transplant living in New Jersey, I must defend where I reside, (though still low key appreciate the snark, lol). The third state admitted to the Union is known as “The Garden State”, and while that mainly refers to it’s fertile land and agricultural productivity, it is a better looking place than I believed growing up across the Hudson. There is the shoreline (which includes Atlantic City) and wonderful little townships waiting for discovery. There, I’ve earned my residency card for the time being. 🙂

Isn’t “The better part of a decade” still less than 10?

So Miles found the only pussy he’ll really be into besides Robbie (not counting Meg and Mrs. P)….should it count since it’s a male pussy? (Sounds oxymoronic, lol). Apparently posting his last Saharan sunset will redirect our nomad, I’m not even gonna speculate on who or what he will be colliding with. To Saturday….and beyond!!

You know, Peter’s attraction aside, he has said no to both Luna and Tyler; unless there is some type of safe word involved, persisting with this endeavor is harassment, what type of friends do that? It’s official, I don’t like Tyler, and Peter needs more and better friends than Luna.

Chapter 16 Dark Thoughts and Dark Clouds
FanLit commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 16 Dark Thoughts and Dark Clouds
“It sure is nice to be together without being afeared for each other, or hide from folks what don’t care to understand there be good people what just happen to be made different from them.” Those words, coming from Willy James, especially, put a true happy end to their journey; I reckon there is more to come but a great weight of worry has been laid down with the prodigal’s reunion (even if he was four days early, lol)….Runyan’s joyful relief, like his worry, was palpable; now this quartet can explore their new home together and plan for the future-horse whisperer Runyan can turn that skill into a profitable venture, but there seems nothing this good, capable man cannot do. “Lord in heaven, accept my thanks” for the thoughtfulness of Gary, who thinks of us, while he’s still on the mend, please see him through to the other side of wellness, soon. 🙏 Just where in tarnation did Willy James trek from to get to Barnswallow? ?What’s for supper this evening? (I reckon we all know what’s going to be dessert🍑🍆) Are those buildings soundproof? 😄 Find out in the next installment of “Roping the Moon” 📿🌕 🍻- 37 comments

Great chapter!! Love how a genuine attraction exists between Daniel and Peter. Tyler is acting like a brat about it, in front of his “girlfriend” no less, who is acting like a cult member who wants to satisfy her leader. I'm sorry if I sound judgy of Luna, maybe she is just very generous and secure in her relationship. 🤷♀️
-
Go for Daniel, Peter. Tyler, that’s what you get for bringing sand to the beach, lol.
-
Oooh, Tyler’s a little too cocky for my taste. Yet: “Your friendship is on a different level… with unlocked bonuses.” “But he ignores me. “It's swimming, Luna, you… and pizza.” “I know everything about you,” he replies cockily,…” These don’t sound like the quotes of a “hit it and quit it” situation….throuple, anyone?
-
Your premise is highly intriguing, fraught with emotional landmines that can alter all three of these relationships forever. As altruistic (and slightly controlling) as this may seem on Luna’s part, it’s also incredibly naive….be careful what you wish for.

“His work truck had been T-boned by a distracted driver reaching over to pick up his phone that had fallen onto the floor instead of waiting until he had stopped.” 🤬 The idiotic, careless, life threatening behavior I watch people exhibit because of cell phones can’t even be blamed on the phones-that is strictly user error; dumb, stupid, user error. 🙄😡 Stop looking down at your phone when you are crossing the street, driving, or moving in any conceivable way that involves you interacting with any.body.else….if you’re stupid enough to walk into fountains or down stairs with your head down on your own time, you get what you deserve; and for God’s sake, USE FUCKING HEADPHONES!!!! You are not interesting enough that your phone calls, music or social media viewing needs to be shared with the public at large. Cinnamon honey butter sounds yummy. I’m glad Troy has Owen; though there doesn’t seem a big emotional investment on Troy’s part, there is something to be said for being wanted more and emotional stability.

Unless you smell with your eyes, I'd say no, lol.

I'm going to go out on a limb here, (that @kbois may maniacally laugh at and change plot to spite, lol) but the name of the story is "Take the Long Road Home"....Troy, Erik, the ranch, et al, is the first true, happy, home that Miles has ever known, it is sacred to him-I think he'd rather die than do anything to defile the safety and sanctity it provided him, hence his severing himself from the romantic relationship he has with Troy. These boys met at 16 years old, and while still plausible, most of us don't end up staying with our first loves....if these boys get back together as men, it will be after some time, having lived and loved life with others in various ways, as well as working on forgiveness and trust with each other (though done for altruistic reasons, the way Miles left was fucked up, he has amending to do with Troy, even if they are to just be friends.) At the risk of egg on my proverbial face, I'm calling that Miles and Troy will get back together; the only question may be who will be taking the long road home to whom? (sorry if I fucked up the pronouns, lol, I think I used them right).

You’re hoping most of it will surprise all’a us?!?! Does a bear shit in the woods?!?! LOL.

I didn’t know whether to choose love or sad for this chapter: you have a gift for detailing gut wrenching tragedy. I loved meeting Robbie and that she and Miles found each other….abuse survivors bond in a way no one else can understand, yet interestingly enough, not always with their fellow victims….Miles was lucky (or unlucky?) to find that twice. Robbie’s past was heartbreaking….there was no way she was going to emerge unscathed being the child of a nihilistic, malignant, narcissist, her husband sounded no better, (the physical and emotional abuse may make him worse) ; I wonder what happened to her Mom, who seemed to have used alcohol as her escape. I am glad that Miles keeps in touch with Erik (will he visit him if his condition becomes progressively worse?) and that he got to totally lay his burden down with Robbie. On a lighter note: “I learned terms like rigging, boom, aft, forward, and how to tell which side is starboard and which is port. Port is on the left. Both words have four letters, and if you held out your left index finger and thumb, it formed the letter L. It’s the only way I could remember.” Thank you for giving me not one, but two easy ways to remember which side of a ship is which, lol. As you parallel each perspective, I guess we’ll find out soon enough how Troy fared during this time; whatever each encounters, and whether or not they get back together, I hope these two young men wind up at peace, if not happy, they deserve it after all they’ve endured, individually and collectively.

Perfectly said. I think August will value that more than the land and the money. 🎁- 43 comments

Chapter 15 Trousers and Cigars
FanLit commented on Headstall's story chapter in Chapter 15 Trousers and Cigars
So it’s confirmed, August and Fletcher are prosperous landowners of financial means. WOO HOO!!!! 🎉🍾 So it’s confirmed, the love that dare not speak it’s name was spoken, twice, and accepted, twice….this obviously bodes well for Runyan and Willy James’ acceptance, both as a couple and capable assistants of labor, something the newly landed gentry will need. “Albert has a new wife, and he has a son who never goes against him, one who has the same hardness his father has. Frankly, I’m not sure Albert would be bothered with you, and I don’t say that to be unkind.” For everyone’s sake, I dearly hope Harriet’s observation is true, because I tend to think like August about his father: “If’n Pa ever figures it out or gets wind of our truth, he’ll come for me, that I have no doubt on.” Albert expects to hear from a struggling, broken down August come spring….that he prospers outside of his existence (and GET ALONG with a Crawley!!!!) will be an affront to his pride, when it instead should be an additional source of….the depth of contempt he is held in comes from a real place, his hubris makes him vindictive and retaliatory. “but as he watched and talked and listened and laughed, he felt it in his bones he was where he needed to be… he was home, with none to hover over him like a dark cloud.” This is a satisfying end to their trip, their journey continues on, with just one loose end…. WHERE IS WILLY JAMES?!?! Maybe we’ll find out in the next installment of “Roping the Moon”? 📿🌕 I hope you are on the road to recovery, Gary, feeling better than you did last week….thanks for thinking of your readers even in your state of unwell. 🥣 🍵- 43 comments

Umm, Kinda? If that's your artistic license for saying "outrageously brilliant" and "scarily perceptive", okay. LOL. That was a needed laugh from this heavy chapter.

Hmm. 🫤 No one, but maybe something....sometimes things have to die to be reborn or make way for something better.

I mean if he had to go, that was one hell of a goodbye. Personally, my slightly OCD ass would never have been okay with the mess being a human canvas would entail but it was sexy and romantic that Miles shared in Troy's passion this way.

"I knew, deep in my heart, that I would always love him and he would always love me, but I would also lose him." And so starts the long road home....if it were short, there wouldn't be much of a story, would there? It seems like there are repressed memories coming back to haunt Miles that he is having trouble facing-did one of his parents' criminal cohorts molest him? Was it his uncle? I think Miles doesn't want to taint his life and love with Troy with whatever he's dealing with, which is why he left. The long road home doesn't mean the love Miles and Troy share will keep them together....then again, from the way the story is being told, it sounds like they weathered a storm that did tear them apart (and into the arms of others? Dutch?) but ultimately brought them back together; I guess time will tell. This is a dip on the ride, but my seatbelt's still fastened, though I may have to crack a window due to the length of the trip (I get car sick, lol). Okay, Madam....okay.

The Firework Committee
FanLit commented on Richie Tennyson's story chapter in The Firework Committee
Harriet has the right of it: “You’re just not used to having a proper friend. Nicholas only ever wanted to be a friend to himself.” I'm glad that Nicholas believes Richard, not that it matters in the long run, or that he might not change his mind later on, but he should know Richard is not that kind of person; interesting that he would think Richard doing the bathroom scrawl was payback for not being there after his parents' split AND ditching him when he knew he was his only friend....what a shallow little elf, he is. 🧌 I don't know if he's really in love with Stu or if that will give him added depth....whatever, at this point; Nicholas, is Stu's problem now. I hope Richard doesn't have to take up the "only friends" post for Stu & Nicholas, but he has fortification in his friendship with Harriet, if he does. “But I should thank you,” she mutters. “I’d been getting way too serious about everything. Dads were starting to get worried about me. But then you came along and suddenly you’ve got me doing crazy things...." It was good for Richard to hear of his value in a friendship, something he isn't used to, but hopefully will become accustomed to, instead of justifying insults disguised as backhanded compliments: “You don’t,” Nicholas insists. “Not deep down. If you did, you’d spend a lot more time trying to look cool. You’d have a better fashion sense. You wouldn’t spend every lunchtime in the library with Harriet Hayes. You’ve never really worried about looking like a loser.” SMH 😠 🙄 He can also say he knew Harriet way before she became a rock star, lol. "The firework committee reconvenes, even though it’s clearly a doomed effort. One small bang and one burst of colour: tonight, that’s all we’ll get. But for now, this is all I need." When your life is pretty solid, fireworks is just a garnish....we are leaving Richard in a better place than we met him and that's the bangs, snaps, crackles, and sprays of colors 🎇 ✨🌈 we need. 🙂 -
