Brian and Gordon were exploring their boundaries with each other & the parameter of their relationship, seems Brian prefers bottoming more than topping, good for him….some people like sleeping on the left side of the bed, some people like sleeping on the right, some have no preference, lol. Amad sounds like a darling, I wonder if B & G will continue to play around with him if they meet up in England. I can’t wait for Toby to see his father with Gordon, it would be good for him to see one of his parents in a healthy, stable relationship.

With an instance of under thinking almost costing him the ability to breathe, Jubal will likely always overthink from now on. 🫤

I think Jubal was the victim of a hate crime- hit on the wrong guy who felt that was justification for taking his life. One doesn’t drag someone behind a horse with a rope around their neck with the intention of survival, I wonder how the attempted murder was aborted….did a brave soul stand up for Jubal? Either way, he’s lucky to be alive.

Love the folklore behind Bearpaw, as well as the Native American name, Makoninj; as your geographic locations tend to just be generalizations of the American West, I’m choosing to believe they may very well be waters with special healing powers….cold springs, while rare, do exist. “Don’t mean it to sound that way. I know him well… I reckon well enough, and he ain’t a bad fellow, he’s really not, but he has a hard time being told no… or that I don’t see things his way.” “And you told him no?” “I did. I have. More than once, truth be told, and he knows why, but thinks he can change my mind. He’s just not leaving things be I want him to.” Now he groaned, and Jubal heard his frustration.” I admire Lucas’ verbal forthcoming in his explanation to Jubal about his situation with Reid….such is his trust of Jubal that I think Lucas would have told him everything if it was just his tale to tell; even disagreeing with Reid, Lucas strives to be fair to him in his depiction to Jubal. Lucas’ candid conversation served as an opening to let Jubal know that he is a judgement free zone should Jubal wish to share about his past and how he acquired his rope scar. To think he was lynched was bad enough, to find out he was dragged behind a horse was horrific….it actually brought tears to my eyes. The acts people commit against others out of fear and ignorance hurts my heart & sickens my stomach….our similarities are so much greater than our differences, those varieties are the spice of life we should savor, not scorn. The look at the wildings was a happy distraction from both men’s troubled musings….Jubal’s near death experience has spooked him to the point he can’t trust his own instincts, which is a real shame because he is a very capable, very smart man with what I dare say are actually excellent instincts, as evidenced by his observation the wildings may not be as wild as thought, along with the idea for he and Lucas to acquire a whole herd of prime horse flesh. “Truth be told, I’m thinking you’re smart… smarter than me. I reckon this could work and nothing I’d like better than having a herd of fine horses… or sharing one with you.” He basically gave Jubal his class ring AND his varsity jacket!! “Pretty as pretty can be,” Lucas said. Jubal glanced over to the mounted man to see his gaze was on him, not the colt, and he be smiling. If Lucas cain’t flirt, he surely has the prettiest way with words!! Boone and Coy have some serious competition for sweet talkin’….would love to find out if Jubal can hold his own. Will Jubal ever confide in Lucas about “the way he was made”? It might not even have to be attractive….she’s swinging dick to dick looking to fill an emotional hole that may never get filled; it’s risky behavior, especially with a child involved….Lord knows what Toby’s witnessed over the years.

Yay!! The future looks so bright for Brian and Gordon; they are couple official and newly employed in a great opportunity. Even though they’ve been doing what they’ve been doing for the past four years, Brian should live on his own or possibly with Toby first….give his coupledom with Gordon time to marinate a bit, with the understanding that they will eventually live together (sooner than later). Without writing Deirdre off totally (because she is Toby’s mum), she & Jasper seem to deserve each other at the moment….Denise definitely got an upgrade in the in-law department with Gordon. The emotional yo-yo with Deirdre & Brian over the years has eroded his personal confidence, and he sells himself short: he’s a fantastic father to Toby & will wind up being an ideal partner to Gordon.

I wanted a refresher before this book came out but I don’t know if I’m able to reread Kage’s death right now….one of the weird side effects of mourning my Mother’s passing these past 10 months is that death hits me different & hard-even if they are only literary characters I’ve come to love. ❤️💔 Life goes on but that layer of scar tissue isn’t fully formed. 😕

For all of Caleb’s deep depression, His interest in Eclipse is encouraging. (Hank, too. Lol) The description of Caleb’s depth of depression was very, very, bleak….and accurate. You have to retrain your brain to think positively, the longer you stay in the dark, the harder you have to work to see the light. Caleb’s depression already threatens the control he has over his wolf, with mutiny an imminent reality….as he is, death is not a frightening prospect (but that CLEARLY is not going to happen) If you pull some Kage shit….🤬
