  1. I hope you’re feeling better @Mancunian. Without knowing where you live, I think it’s that time of year for feeling a touch under the weather….here in the Northeastern part of the United States, we are dealing with Ark like rains right now, lol- as of today, it’s the second wettest September on record….on the one hand, the pollen is clear, (yay!! Lol) on the other, it’s at hot bed for chest congestion of other kinds.
  2. I too, am looking forward to a renewed, reborn sense of self in this decade….this is also my first birthday since my mother died and as much sadness as that brought, there is a freedom to this new phase in my life, if that makes sense. Just through your writing & comments, I’ve always sensed a gentle, genuine & generous spirit about you….tied into and a part of the natural world, I suppose that love of nature comes with the chance of exposure to illnesses like Lyme disease. I surely hope you don’t have it and am wishing you well, Gary, as I always do. 🙏 🍻
  3. Thank you, @84Mags, I think I will, too. 🎁

    Interesting. 🤔
  5. Incest is best?!?! 😬 I do think you can marry a cousin….they just have to be far apart enough in blood to prevent birth defects inherent with inbreeding. FDR & Eleanor Roosevelt did it, so did QE2 & Prince Philip.
  6. Even though their relationship is over, I hope Kyan looks at his wife with fresh eyes, recognize alI the ways she mistreated him, forgive her and let it go….Perry does need to truly put his relationship with Dayna in the past as well, (it might be harder for him to forgive, lol) he is honoring her with the love he has for her family, even if that isn’t his intention.
  7. Don’t feel bad, I practically quoted the whole chapter….in two separate comments, lol.
  8. Thank you!! And
  9. Uncle Papa Perry sounds so much better than Uncle Daddy Perry, lol!!
  10. It was verrrryyyy important that Kyan speak that out loud, patterns can only be broken if new boundaries are set.
  11. “I promise to never leave you in the dark, to always respect you and support you. I will put you and the kids first and always try to anticipate your needs. I promise to do everything I can to make you happy.” Perry couldn’t have said any better if they were in front of family and friends about to exchange rings. 💝❤️ “I can’t let the greatest love I’ve ever known walk away because Dayna disapproves. And what is she disapproving of? Someone who cares for me and the children more than anyone else in this world? You are the best thing for us, and if she’s not okay with that, then she can’t claim she ever loved us.” After highlighting the dichotomy of the Daynas they knew, I LOVE that this is the way Kyan told Perry he loves him…. I’ve mentioned it before but Perry gives me such Seamus vibes….Kyan and Matt will never, ever have to worry about infidelity from their men once they know their love is returned. Their first time together was well worth the wait. Kyan is a lucky son of a bitch….yeah the words matter but Perry has shown Kyan every moment of every day of their lives how much he loves him, it’ll be interesting how Perry says it.
  12. “Perry put the truck in park and stared at the house. All the lights were on, which was abnormal for nine-thirty, and Kyan was leaning against the kitchen table, watching Perry through the window with an unreadable expression.” Uhh….no blinds? Shades? Curtains? Guess Kyan doesn’t mind his loved ones ending up in a true crimes podcast. “The soft breathing and the rise and fall of the children’s chests against him were the perfect lullaby.” One of the things I miss from my son’s babyhood was no matter where we were, once my little boy was in my arms, he would always fall asleep if he was tired (sometimes he’d even fight it, lol) but the result was always the same….like my heartbeat was his best white noise machine. If you are a fortunate grownup to have children you love in your life, there is nothing like the sleep of that little one burrowed next to you, proof that you are their safe space….until an arm jams into your face while their foot is pushing you away, lol!! “Gracie huffed and fought like a wrangled alligator to get out of Perry’s arms, as if he was holding her against her will, then stomped off to the kitchen table and angrily crawled onto her chair. That wasn’t enough. No, she looked around for something before swiping Noah’s silverware off the table and sending it clattering onto the floor.” Little bitch, lol. So as one commenter previously noted, Noah is Gracie’s Perry, smh….is she jockeying to take over as oldest? Jed’s talk with Kyan was evident in addressing Gracie’s tantrum and what he said to his children: “No one has the right to treat you badly, not a stranger and not a sibling. That goes for each of you,…” The seed for a kinder, gentler (though still fiery) Gracie is planted, as evidenced by her behavior as Kyan got her ready to go ice skating. 👏 🤞 “Being prioritized had Perry feeling all sorts of tingly. He tried not to grin. “Okay.” This passage broke my heart….has Perry ever felt prioritized in his family? “Ever the athlete, he took the ball and ran, pressing his lips against Kyan’s. The two men kissed like they’d been apart for years, not a week. They tugged and pulled and clawed, stumbling across the kitchen to the living room.” So the city girl in me is wondering-how close are neighbors to Kyan’s place and will they always get “ The Truman Show” (or “Adult Theater”) from the house of Kyan? I’ve quoted a lot from this chapter but there was so much that grabbed me, lol.

Gordon’s direct approach to Brian was refreshing but still risky….granted Brian gave him visual clues of interest and he knew him well enough but that could still have easily turned into a violent rejection. Gordon’s uncle was a great influence & guide into the life of a gay man and wound up leaving him with the stability he’s able to have in his non military life….his bohemian parents at least guaranteed he’d have sexual acceptance, another boon for a child whose preference would deviate from the perceived norm. (something tells me sexual sleepovers would’ve been allowed whether Gordon was gay or straight) It was very interesting that in their limited sexual activity it is Brian who was willing to bottom…. I think this is the first time I read about exploratory gay sex where the curious one didn’t top….does he now? All in all, Brian lucked out in Gordon being his first real same sex affair. Deirdre sounds like a hot mess, who’ll bring chaos wherever she goes….makes me hope all the more that Toby gets to live with Brian at the end of his assignment.
  14. I cherish you, Gary. 💝
  15. If it wasn’t made clear, I don’t believe Reid is a bad man….he is a young man possessed of certain ambitions and hungers, as any intrepid soul must be to make life somewhere new from scratch. Reid has already proved he’s going to be a fine sheriff, his glee at the credit the big bust of the Bennett gang would give him speaks to his ambition. Reid’s friendship with Lucas, whatever it is, means a lot to him….whether it is as good friend or current/jilted lover, Reid is the master of his own fate in Bearpaw….I imagine he’d be reluctant to let go of what was obviously to him an ideal situation….his delicate dance around “staking his claim” shows a diplomacy he doesn’t need if he wanted to be a lawman with a dictatorial bent. While much is not known of Reid’s background, he’s clearly willing to fight for what he values….what we have yet to see is how far he’s willing to take it and if he’s gracious in defeat.
  16. Thank you. I’m celebrating the whole turn around the sun this year, 💫☀️ to give me a later opportunity to celebrate in a bigger way, given that isn’t possible now. It’s enough to see “39+ 11” in good health and relative sanity but this age comes only once & I want to revel in the victory of it.

Denise is a cool Gran and Mum. Toby has a sound support system on his paternal side, along with a good friend (sometimes you just need the one)….while it seems Toby has a decent relationship with his mother, it’s hoped Deirdre matures alongside her son; Jasper may be an impediment in that regard.
  19. That thought crossed my mind, as well.
  20. She most definitely would have been.
  21. Kyan gave her the absolute adoration she craved & she wasn’t letting that go but it wouldn’t have lasted….people like that will never be totally happy.
  22. I relate so much to what you said here. The bottom line is that Dayna was a general pain in the ass who overwhelmed her family, particularly her parents, they plain ol’ fucked up in expecting Perry to always “show his neck” to Dayna, particularly considering she didn’t deserve it most, if not all of the time….hindsight is 20/20 and Jed & Trudy at least realize and acknowledge what they did; it can’t hurt that Dayna is dead, lol. I wonder if they would’ve still left things as they were had she lived. I appreciate that @Mrsgnomie wrote about a character like Dayna, the fact is people like her do exist, black holes of attention and affection just born that way and incapable of change. When we look at people, we always hope their good traits outweigh their bad ones….sometimes it ain’t so. At least she made beautiful babies. 🤷‍♀️
  23. “You trust me with a razor at your throat?” Jubal asked slyly, teasing the man again. “Reckon I trust you completely,” he answered, but he weren’t at all joking.” What a gift those words are. Complete trust is rare and beautiful; 🎁 once broken, it will never be whole again. What is it about horse’s teeth that can determine their age? Will (Merrick) and Morey Swain certainly were engaged in what was then one of the most prosperous professions at that time, as there would always be a need for good, quality lumber. (Still is) That job is not for the faint of heart (I myself have a huge fear of splinters, lol). Lucas’ “friendly” teasing to Morey about Jubal was revelatory….Lucas definitely has plans for our Mr. Coyle. “I reckon Reid likes you too.” Appeared he caught the man by surprise, judging by his expression. “Why… why do you think so?” “I don’t know, maybe because he crowed for me helping you stay alive? You seem close… ain’t you?” Oh the snorty laugh I gave when I read that, lol!! Gary, you trickster you, lol!! What a cliffhanger!! I do believe Jubal is going to realize he, Lucas and Reid are all fishermen or vegetarians and some are a bit more territorial over their bounty than others. 🐟🍆 Everything Lucas learns about Jubal confirms for him they can be a really fine pair, in every way….while unconfirmed, it seems Lucas and Reid used to be an intimate pair, were they a fine pair that way? Lucas seems okay with them being a pair of platonic friends but Reid is clearly finding that boundary hard to accept. Enamored people possess a sixth sense where their inamorata/inamorato is concerned….Reid’s was pinged the second he laid eyes on Jubal….seems he wants his position fully known by all concerned. What words are going to be exchanged between Lucas and Reid? Will the sheriff cause trouble to get his competition out of the way? When will Jubal feel comfortable enough to tell Lucas what happened with “the rope”? Find out next week when we check out “Bearpaw: An Old West Tale” 🐾 🍻
