I’m beginning to believe that the next chapter begins with a visit from the admiralty. “I am very sorry to tell you Mrs. Granger, but the letter you received two months ago was the last news we have of your husband his ship and his crew. The Baltic is completely iced up and unless a message comes overland we can’t possibly find out more till spring. We know he was well provisioned. Beyond that we can say no more.”

Steph facing his long overdue midlife crisis and not realizing by going head to head with it he is continuing to be who he is. Love it.

Chapters in two stories, wow. Your presence has been missed.

Re-reading the last few chapters in anticipation. Your writing is missed, on this story and anything else you grace us with.

As bad as it is, it could get worse. The abuse could become permanently debilitating or Loz could completely loose it and kill him. Yes, these things happen. Its painful to read, but I admire the strength of the author to write it. And of course I hope something good happens soon. Bringing things into the light of day is the dumbest thing Loz could have done if he doesn't want to get caught.

Am I the only one getting cold feet before the wedding? Has CJ really gone from “I’m not in love”” to “I’m getting married in the morning” in such a short time? OK, maybe not as fast as it seems. He just seems too young and unprepared for this. There have been no other loves, no broken hearts to go through. AND yes, I am happy for them both, and hope with all my heart it works out for them. (weird, I just received the story notification this morning, 6/19/18)

Informative and intriguing. Why was history class never this interesting? Once again you have triumphed.

Can only assume the tunnels will eventually lead somewhere (if only metaphorically) as the story progresses. Enjoyed the read.

I’m not sure people like the maternal grandparents actually learn the lessons we think they should. I do hope they are taken down and the lives they have are ruined, but we always have to remember that retribution is a two way street. Just gotta be sure they can’t afford the toll.

Well done. With the back of the house open to a public waterway no trespassing was necessary. He’s gotten himself tangled up with unsavory yet powerful people. It’s going to make for quite a fight. I’m begin to be surprised Adam ever got custody to start with.

Maybe Will is going to finally figure out that sometimes a weekend fling is just a weekend fling and it doesn’t mean you have to make a huge commitment just because your lives briefly intersect. JJ and Carullo are a slow motion train wreck. Maybe the separation will give them both a chance to see what’s left once the track has been cleared. As always a most satisfying read.

Don’t have my glasses on so I didn’t read the other comments. Really glad you chose to continue the story. Great job on this chapter.

I too spent years praying to be normal. Fortunately I realized I was perfectly normal, just atypical. That realization came about and grew along with my spiritual life. For me it was a path that worked. I’m glad you found a path that worked for you. If that meant putting God in the same pile as Santa and the Easter bunny, then I’m glad you were able to do so. Believer or or not I think every person should strive to have a fulfilling life that brings them joy. A belief that you are a freak of the universe precludes that and must be disposed of.

I may be an atypical believer, but I do not insist that God is real to anyone. My faith has played an important role in accepting myself as a gay man. My faith is very real -(yet often questioned / re-examined by me) - but I am well aware a belief in God, or a belief in the same image of God I have is far from universal (especially in the LGBT community) and I do not believe anyone is called to throw their beliefs in someone else’s face. Sure, everyone who knows me knows it’s an important part of my life. Most know that I am more than willing to share why that is so. But I don’t know as I’ve ever walked up to anyone, friend or stranger, and told them they need to find ——— to fulfill their life. I don’t believe that is what the “great commission” as Christians call it is all about. I hope you understand im enjoying this exchange, although I’m not sure how far off track we have gotten from an interesting and superbly crafted story.

I only meant that your statement that God is imaginary is very different than saying “I believe god is imaginary.” I have a number of very dear friends who are either agnostic or atheist. And yes, I have voted for Athirsts, Jews, Buddhists, and Baptists. Maybe even a Catholic or Mormon as well. I don’t believe I’ve ever had an opportunity to vote for a Muslim or Baha’i. We we don’t all hear the voice of God as professed by Jerry Falwell or Oral Roberts. The baptismal vow I took admonished me “... to respect the dignity of every human being.”

I’m sorry to feel the need to dismiss my beliefs as being imaginary. I fully accept that you see them as such, but to state it as factual is demeaning to many millions of people worldwide. It is equivalent to saying that as a non-believer your life is forfeit. That’s also ridiculous.

What’s really up with the lack of a phone call from Zach? In this age of not just instant but limitless communication it sounds ominous. Or he really has turned into the jerk that has been hiding in the shadows all along. I am mystified by JP’s actions, he has not refrained from very serious retaliation to any threats to his family in the past. Of course he hasn’t had to deal with the potrntial evil of a drug cartel in the past either. His whole family could simply be vanished in a matter of hours or days. And Mark is just the man to lead us on the tour.

So JJ has shifted from not wanting to be Carullo’s toy boy to wanting it all the time, so long as it’s on his terms. Why am I not surprised? I’m interested to see how or if Wade’s mother fits into this whole cartel thing. A plethora of Black Widows.

Some of us still remember George Wallace, in his inaugural address as governor of Alabama, saying "Segregation now, segregation tomorrow, segregation forever." It took a bullet to the spine before he saw the light. Hopefully it won't take that much to convince Don, but it's gonna take something major thats for sure.

I'm sure that whatever you have planned for JJ, Carullo, and Luca will be far more interesting and entertaining than anything I might dream up. Looking forward to see what happens, and so very glad to see you back at your craft.

JJ has a lifetime of self pity and insecurities to get over. A good first step, but alone it won't be enough, its going to have to be a journey, punctuated with epiphanies. Hopefully he will knit those together. The writing and story continue to be first rate.
