    I will not delve specifically into Lyn's mom's past, but I did choose her first name with a clear intention in mind... You won't learn it until later, she's only 'mom' for now, but the literary reference - I like to believe - will be as clear as day. Appearances matter to her, that's why she doesn't wonder at all why Lyn is lying. I'm glad that you and other readers understand why Lyn's and Alexander's relationship would have been pretty strained in the past and not on equal ground. The past is needed to make the present make sense And Alexander did some growing up, of course! He has a different strategy now... while in the past, he didn't have a strategy at all, to be honest.
