Yeah... I mean, I think we all do that in real life when we know someone for a long time. We're getting used to their idiosyncrasies that only an outside would consider them strange. It's also for keeping the balance, the status quo.

It does fit, but it says more about Brad's attitude toward love and commitment than anything else.
Lyn might like to believe Brad doesn't see it... but the readers may very well read these scenes with a clear head.

I knew readers might split in two sides about 'looking' and 'not looking'. Lyn, I believe, does have a strong moral compass, hence his hesitation to do something perceived by him as wrong.
