On Deities of Escaria, part 1
ObicanDecko commented on ObicanDecko's story chapter in On Deities of Escaria, part 1
Thanks! Stay tuned for more. -
Thank you all, glad to have you along for the ride! Btw @akascrubber this is going to be more of an encyclopedia, so there won't be a "plot" per se, but I hope you still find it interesting.

It is important to devote a segment to deities, their history and relationships with each other, as they were the ones who created all life on this continent, including the first venomous creatures. There is much written matter about the gods and goddesses that created Escaria and all of its living beings. Most of it is in the form of legends and myths, rarely ever from first-hand accounts. This is understandable, as deities are not known to commonly reveal themselves to people, if ever. Ev

Preface
ObicanDecko posted new chapter in Book of Venoms: A Compendium of Escaria’s Venomous Animals
by Parroleus of Willsden Preface It was never my intention to add the title of author to the brief, yet hopefully significant, list of my achievements. As an alchemist, I am far more suited to practical endeavours, be it in a laboratory or outside of it. My fingers are more accustomed to holding vials and beakers than a quill and parchment. However, as I am sitting here on this dreary night in a small tavern in Alryne, far from my home in Thorodan, consuming the fifth cu -
The titular book from the novel 'Book of Venoms', this is a guide to the strange and magical world of Escaria and its venomous creatures. It also includes sections on the mythology and history of Escaria, as well as recipes for elixirs and antidotes.

Thanks for reading and leaving your thoughts here! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Yes, Lothar (and Edwin) didn't really have the best ending, but hey, it could've been worse. I've been considering writing a sequel (since I have the plot all figured out), I just have to find the time and motivation.

Thank you for reading and leaving all of the comments! I enjoyed reading them and seeing your thoughts as you went through the story. Yeah, I don't think there were any clear winners, but it was that kind of a story. I hope you enjoyed it still.

This was such a good and insightful read, thanks for writing this up! I think slow burn stories require patience from both the reader and the author. The reader has to have patience to go through all the slow burn chapters until the story picks up the pace, and of course the author's job is to make sure that initial part of the story is engaging and not boring. But the author must also have the patience to properly lay out the story and characters, and to make sure the pacing is just right - because sometimes it's very tempting to ditch that idea and kick off the story with a bang (something I like to do) instead of taking it slow. I agree with the comments saying that slow burn works really well with drama and romance, but it can also work well in other genres if done correctly. I remember reading a visual novel where the first 6 or so chapters seemed like your average romcom, though we were getting clues here and there that there could be something wrong. It wasn't until chapter 7 or so that shit hit the fan, all the clues we'd gotten so far fell into place and it was revealed that we're actually dealing with a sinister sci-fi mystery. The slow burn made the reveal that much more satisfying to read.

Thank you! I'm glad you liked it! Glad you enjoyed it even though your fave did not win. I hope the finale was a satisfying resolution for all the characters. And I do like your headcanon for Samson and Troy's future - though I can neither confirm nor deny it. Thank you for showing interest in my stories, and it's fine if a certain genre isn't your type - I hope you check out my other stories in the future, whenever they come. Thanks, I'm glad you had fun reading it! Indeed, Marcus gave it his all and won by not focusing on petty drama. Samson and Tyler doing an album together is definitely what Samson was hinting at. Hopefully one day I'll actually write that sequel. 😆

Thanks, hope you enjoy the ending! 😊

Thanks, glad to hear you enjoyed all the games! Kelly K is indeed gone, who will you hate now? Should I bring her back? Hmmm... 🤨

Thank you! Hope you enjoy the final chapter!

“Damn! So close,” Marcus muttered to himself upon hearing the announcement. He was more motivated than ever to succeed. If he could nab the first place in just one more game, he would be tied with Eric and Samson – or even come out on top, depending on the game. As he walked through the park at a brisk pace, he came across the cake stand that he’d seen from the distance but never got around to visiting. He handed over a ticket as the girl attending it quickly went through the rules. “O

Some really good observations, as usual! Eric's reveal was definitely personal - he knew Samson would be upset by Troy's elimination, but that's exactly what he wants - to throw Samson off his game and get him distracted. Will it work? Glad you enjoyed Kelly's elimination. It was always a plan to have her kicked out before the finals (although she was a lot of fun to write!). I watch a lot of similar variety shows on youtube, which is where the inspiration for many of the games came from. It's a lot of fun watching them, but it's good to know they translate well to this medium too.

Thank you so much, glad you're enjoying it!

I mean you're not wrong 😄

It was the morning of the grand finals, the last day at the Playground Mansion. With only four contestants remaining, the grand residence felt emptier than ever. Still, the tradition of having their meals together went uninterrupted, as all four celebrities came to the kitchen at the same time to have their breakfast. Even though seeing Eric was the last thing he wanted, Samson decided to show up anyway. He couldn’t stop thinking about Eric’s confession from the night before, how the athlet

Soon after having lunch the next day, the five remaining contestants found themselves down in the gaming room – but not by choice. They were all told to gather down there, as the new round of games was about to start. Much like the last time they competed there, the room was arranged so that the center space was cleared out, while the camera crew was all set up against the far wall, ready to begin shooting. Unlike the last time, the center area contained five beanbags, one for each contestant.

I'm glad I managed to hit the right level of fun and bitchiness! Thank you so much for reading!

Thank you @Summerabbacat for the awesome feedback, as always! I'm happy to hear you found the missions fun, I certainly had a lot of fun writing this chapter. As for what fate awaits Kelly, you'll just have to wait and see! No plans for a standalone story of Samson and Troy, but who knows, maybe we'll see them together again in some capacity.

The clinking of cutlery and plates mixed with chatter and scraping of chairs against the floor as the remaining six contestants took their seats in the dining room for their morning meal. Even though not all of them were hungry, they decided to sit and have a meal together, knowing that every day their group was getting smaller. “It feels so empty now that it’s only the six of us,” Tiffany was the first to state the obvious. “I miss all of them, even Gloria.” “Even Gloria!” Marcus coul

That's awesome to hear! It's also unlike anything I've ever written before, so I'm glad it hit the mark.

Thank you so much! I hope you enjoy the rest of the story!

Thank you @Summerabbacatfor reading and being so invested in the story! You've made a lot of good observations, but no matter how much I'd like to discuss them, I don't want to spoil anything. I will say one thing tho - the finals will be a 4-way battle!
