That was climactic for sure! They beat the boss, but at what cost? I'm still not sure what I think about their decision to do the raid. If so many people died on the easiest temple boss, what will happen in the later raids? I'd probably be one of the people who would choose to sit the fight out and just stay in town where it's safe - unless the game starts introducing mechanics that force everyone to participate. I guess only time will tell if they made the right call (tho obviously we as the readers won't know because the story is clearly almost over lol).

There's always that one type of enemy that is weak and not really too dangerous, but super annoying to deal with, especially for certain builds - and it seems like in this game it's the pill bugs. Also, as someone with mild arachnophobia, I would totally run away screaming at the first sight of a spider.

That was a lot of suspense ahead of the boss fight. Everyone is basically ready, but how will it turn out? I have a feeling the boss will have some secret moves the players aren't counting on.

This story would be great for adapting into a tv show. It has a big and diverse cast, it'd be fun seeing them all navigate the video game world. One of my theories is that the people are not actually in the game anymore. Maybe they were hooked up onto the game, got their personalities somehow copied into the game, and then they were just released, leaving their "digital copies" to keep living inside the game thinking they were real people.

Now this was a fun chapter! You really wrote the fight scenes well, and I liked seeing all the different mechanics the enemies had. Looking forward to more of this.

Good to see what other characters are doing! Digging the new friendship/alliance between Stephan, Armon and Jer, I think it will be good for all 3 of them. Also, I love pet builds in games, so I definitely recognize myself in Armon. It's just fun having an animal companion fight by your side. (Tho I'm not a big fan of summoners like the Necro in Diablo. I prefer just one or two pets than a whole army.) -
Tbh this was confusing for me too. They started out this story as friends and suddenly they no longer are, and I'm not quite sure why? I understand your explanation, but it seems to happen so out of the blue in the story. On another note, I'm a fan of Wake and the whole big scary brooding guy thing he's got going on. A shame that the game deprives them of the pleasure of kissing!

How many players are there in the game overall, and how big is the world exactly? Could it be that there are some players who started the game in another part of the world, completely separate from this group? I like the build planning aspect of it, although I gotta say all of the game mechanics are a bit confusing and difficult to follow even for someone who is a gamer. I guess it's different just reading about something and actually playing. The part about no arousal/erections is def concerning. If the game can do that, what else can it do to their bodies/minds?

Lots of action in this chapter, which I always like! I still wonder where the story is heading, will there be some bosses/monsters from the game the players will have to face, or will other players actually be the main villains. Guess I'll have to wait and see...

No underwear! There's gonna be a lot of peepees exposed! 😄 I have to admit, they completely lost me when they started discussing the layout of the hallways and rooms at the lodge, but I don't think that will matter in the grand scheme of things anyway. It was very interesting to hear them discuss the possibilities of how and why they ended up in the game. I think it's definitely not an accident, but a deliberate (and very unethical) experiment - either to test some new VR technology, or a psychological test... Or both. I wonder what Asa thinks Luke is doing. Fighting goblins?

I've never played MMOs since I'm not a fan of multi-player games in general, but as a gamer this is still right up my alley. So far, it's kind of giving me Lord of the Flies vibe, with a group of people finding themselves stranded in a strange environment and creating a new society. Looking forward to see where you're taking this. -
Terry's dream is obviously important, either as a premonition of what will happen, or a more general warning that he will be in some sort of danger. Also, Cynthia is my new favorite character all because of this quote: "Popularity is no excuse. I can't abide all of these worn out and unoriginal phrases people use." So true!

Whew, that Karen sure is passive aggressive! Colin has competition for the most annoying cinema worker. Both Terry and Cynthia seem to be having fun playing detectives, I can't wait to see what else they uncover. I don't even wanna come up with any theories just yet, I'm just enjoying everything being slowly revealed bit by bit.

Loving the mystery so far! At this point it could be anything - like Terry said, we don't have enough information yet. Also, Maurice turned out to be surprisingly useful. I was ready to write him off and coldly suggest that Terry should have had him removed from the cinema, but I guees good on him for having more patience than me. 😛

I really enjoy your writing! This was another great chapter, I especially liked the interactions with all the cinema visitors, like the three old ladies and Maurice. And now there's also the matter of the strange entity that began making itself known. Looking forward to learning more about it!

I don't think I've read any of your stories yet, but I'm enjoying this one so far. I was already intrigued by the summary and the chapter titles being tarot references. Looking forward to continuing with chapter 2 and beyond! Terry seems like a very perceptive person, I'm very curious about his powers - as well as Cynthia's, since she's supposed to be a psychic.

Yes a new chapter! Dani is finally starting to become more decisive and not let people push him around. He knows his worth now. Also he's right that Ciprian is probably more dangerous than Deadnus. I wouldn't be surprised if Ciprian was willing to sacrifice even his own family members for the sake of getting his way. The mysteries of what happened to Dahlia and who killed Vinicius remain unsolved, and I'm so eager to see what actually happened there! If only Dani's dreams weren't so cryptic and vague -

As others have said, I think the Princess thought that Dani resembles Dahlia, whoever she actually was. I think she was someone who meant a lot to Vinicius, so he may have wanted to make Dani look like her to keep her memory alive. So they're moving Dani to Maratoni's compound. If the Protection League goes to search for him there again, and Maratoni gets terribly hurt, oh well 🙂 I'm still not fully convinced Deadnus was behind the assassination attempt. The prophecy did say someone would betray Dani, and I bet whoever it is had something to do with him being shot. Anyway, another great chapter! Looking forward to more. -

I'm pretty sure there will be more than two sides for Dani to choose instead of just the government and the monarchy. I think Dani's decision will ultimately be affected by the truth about who killed Vinicius, because just as Vincent is driven by desire to avenge his family's deaths, Dani wants to avenge his mentor's death. Ok how is he going to get out of this one? 😆 Really enjoying this story, I've basically binge-read all of it in two days. My latest theory (which is probably completely off) is that Vinicius gave Dani the power of rebirth, not just for Dani himself but also so that he could turn other vampires back into humans, maybe as a way to keep both sides in check in case of another war. Anyway, I literally don't trust anyone except Dani, Graham and Melinda. Next chapter when? Tomorrow? Works for me!
