Short stories are not my forte. I'm thankful for my editors with this one. @Mrsgnomie and @Carlos Hazday kept me on track even though a certain know-it-all cringes at verbose stories. He still liked it. 🤭
Totally late to this party today. That's what I get for trying to post one more chapter before I go on vacation, wrap up everything at work and sneak in editing a chapter or two for Mrs. G. Not to mention packing.
I've got a lot of down time sitting around airports tomorrow so I'll get in as many as I can.
I think we all had one of those so called "crazy" neighbors. Even more so for those of us belonging to the over 50 generations. Mental illness wasn't recognized or labeled as it is today, nor were medications readily available. It's scary to think that standard treatment for many mental health-related issues was electric shock therapy or even lobotomies. Even though we've come a long way, there's still a long more way to go. Our medical system doesn't make it easy.
Thanks Gary. It's hard to write a character from a perspective you know nothing about. I gave it my best shot and the responses I've had have blown me away. I'm glad I was able to connect my characters to real life with this story.
Sometimes it's hard not to go down that dark rabbit hole.
Shay's dad is his rock more than anyone else. I'm glad Shay was able to get the help he needed.
(My fan club is affectionately known as the Korner Krew. They're always recruiting new members but beware, they're the true meaning of crazy)
