Yay! Camp Refuge World is back! Everytime you gift us with a snippet of this little creative world is like coming home from work after a long day, kicking off the flip flops, throwing on a comfy pair of stretchy pants and a beat up t-shirt, settling down on the recliner with a dog curled up between your feet and feeling happily relaxed. Comfortable. Besides the fact that every Camp Refuge tale guarantees two things; cute guys trying to figure shit out and food. Always food. (At least it wasn't raining! ๐คฃ) Thanks Wayne!

My thinking exactly!

I would be so dangerous with a wish list. We spent too many years when our kids were little making choices between gas for the car or diapers for the baby. Now that weโre in a place where bills are getting paid (on time too!), money is getting put into savings, I still feel a little guilty whenever I buy something thatโs not a necessity. I'm pretty good with hunting out bargains. My mantra that I drilled into both my kids was "Is it on sale and is there a coupon?" My older son is pretty frugal, itโs the impulsive almost 19 yr old that has to learn things the hard way. But the gloves will prevent an expensive trip to the ER.๐ค (rationalization sure does come in handy!)

Giving up a child has to be one of the hardest things a parent can do. Making the decision to adopt a child and love them as your own is just as life altering as giving birth. Lids need to be loved and it shouldn't make a difference who that love comes from. Families should never be defined by blood alone. Families are what we make of them. Open adoptions have become more acceptable over the years since Kyle and Megan were born. Medical issues are certainly easier to pin down when the biological family history is known . It is definitely heartbreaking to deal with such severe diseases like your friend is dealing with. Fireball is so much more....๐คฃ๐คฃ

My husband thanks you for feeding my Amazon addiction. ๐คฃ The sad thing is.... I wasn't using the mandolin. It was the dicer and some carrot got stuck and I idiotically thought it would be a good idea to poke it with my thumb. The other thumb got the tip shredded by the vegetable peeler. Beets are slippery buggers, especially when you're trying to hold them when your grip strength is half of what it used to be. (I'm pretty sure this peeler is capable of making quick work of jicama!) Have a good day everyone! I hear Amazon calling me!

'Bout time you chimed in today! Anything but coconut. 1 Coconut. 0 ๐คฃ๐คฃ๐คฃ Seeing how you already know the secret handshake, I can't really say anything else can I?

Thanks! You're spot on about Kyle. He's been struggling with this for months and still can't come to grips with it given the limited information his parents gave him. There's definitely more to the story than meets the eye and he'll get a bigger picture of everything soon. P.S. Thanks goes to @Mrsgnomie for some suggestions that made Kyle's telling of his story more poignant.

I got to try out my slicer dicer thingy that I bought before vacation. I am completely enamored! Why did I not know about this glorious invention before? At the rate my son goes through the roasted veggies this thing is worth its weight in gold. It made quick work of beets, eggplant, carrots, and onions. I added raw almonds to the tray of Brussel sprouts and they came out really good. I also discovered the blades are very sharp. Both band-aid covered thumbs can attest to that. The set came with a peeler too. Again... sharp! My hemp hearts arrived today, just in time to add to my lunch of Greek yogurt and blueberries. They are a nice addition to my growing seed collection. I just realized I forgot to buy zucchini.. oh well! Hope everyone has a good evening!

How to make a pina colada: 1 part rum 1 part coconut creme Pineapple juice Put away rum and pineapple juice. Dump coconut creme down sink. Grab Fireball and Rum Chata and pour equal parts over ice in a 24oz Tervis tumbler. You're welcome.

There is no amount of Rum that will mask that taste!

๐คฎ Hmmmm...shady.... probably not the first adjective I would assign to the man, but definitely in the mix of descriptives for him. ๐ถ๐ฒ

Bruce is smart. Very, very smart๐ Now there's a good theory regarding Kim's 'friend'! ๐ค Damn....you guessed it. Bruce is the canine version of Peter Pettigrew in the Harry Potter series and everything is his fault!๐คญ Jett propulsion. ๐คฃ๐คฃโ๐ Meet the parents.... should be fun!

Then something changed and while i still loved it, writing became something else, or i did - more likely the latter. People's reactions started to mean too much, my own ego became too much. Well, that stopped me from doing what i like to do. I think there are a lot of other writers feel the same way. I always look forward to those little thumbs up and hearts and yes, there are days when the reactions or lack of take on greater meaning. It's hard to find the right balance of appreciating feedback and wanting it. It's human nature to want one's ego stroked. I'm happy that you found the right article to bring that balance into your life. It's a wonderful perspective. I decided I will find my way back. It's interesting that you used the capital "I" for this sentence. It shows just how strong you are.. It's really good to see you writing again tim. xo

It always makes me happy to hear that you're enjoying the story. Jett's family is funny and quirky. Next chapter will show some of that. He's inherently empathetic which makes him a good match for Kyle. Kyle has a little bit more of a ways to go before he can start repairing his relationship with his folks, especially when he finds out the circumstances of his adoption. (See what I did there @spyke? A little intrigue?๐๐) But yes, Kyle is a good person.

Kim is definitely still a mystery (we'll, at least to you guys!) Not much longer before we get more info on her. Hope you're feeling better Chris. โค

While I will 'fess up to the ingestion of jalapenos this week, I can't blame Fireball. Haven't had that in a couple of months. My current fixation is blackberry and/or Skrewball (peanut butter). ๐คค๐คฃ๐ฅ

Bruce is so badass. (For a floofer) Relationships aside.... the real story is how they came about. Hopefully you're now more confused! ๐
