Troy knows he shouldn't run right back to Miles. I don't think Miles would let him. Yeah .. Owen needs to be careful. Its up to him to figure it out. Erik may have made a few missteps but he had the boys' best interest at heart. HEA...request heard.

That's Owen's problem, not Troy's. The ranch is exactly what Troy needs. As for Miles, it's still uncertain where he will end up I don't think the ranch is the right place for him until they figure things out.

Mmmmmm... Troy slipped by one kiss and six months of text exchanges that Owen knew about. Owen's didn't cheat physically, but emotionally? Absolutely...and for much longer. I think they're even.

Thank you! Yes, there are still a few ruts and potholes to navigate as they find their new way. I have a couple of more tricks up my sleeve. Not too many though as we are winding down. Only five more chapters...what could happen? (3AM??!! Where the heck are you?)

I think you nailed it. The assertiveness in sex and the proposal could definitely be a Hail Mary pass. I kinda wish I could have done a chapter from Owen's POV, but I'd rather leave the uncertainty about a lot of things pertaining to their relationship up to the readers to draw their own conclusions. Because, honestly, I have no clue what Owen was truly feeling. He didn't tell me.

Yep, those late nights were dinners with his "friendly coworker". I believe Owen when he says he didn't cheat, and meant in a physical way, but emotional affairs are a thing, and both he and Troy are guilty in that regard.

I thought about making it messy, but it didn't feel right considering that Troy has grown exponentially from boyhood into manhood. He is more level-headed and rational, other than impulsively kissing Miles. He thinks about things and recognizes when to step back and reassess, which is where he is now. He'll figure it out. It's just going to take some time.

Troy knows the risk. He wants the risk. He's just not quite ready to take the risk. Stepping back and not jumping into an all-out relationship with Miles is the right thing to do. Owen had a very specific purpose in Troy's life. He glued him back together after the Abandonment. But as we all know, glue degrades over time, which is why, even before Miles reentered the picture, Owen felt the pull of another man. Even though he only thought about cheating, the emotional detachment from Troy already started. I think he did try to hold onto things, hence the power-bottom sex, but continuing his emotional affair drove them further apart. They both made fatal mistakes in their relationship. How it pans out? You know me well. I think you can figure it out.

As a writer, it's oftentimes incredibly hard to make the words convey exactly what you want them to. It's why showing vs telling is so important. As prevalent as it is nowadays, I feel that AI isn't capable of inserting real emotion into a story. I have never used it to write, nor will I. It can check me for mistakes, but I don't always listen to its suggestions. Most often, I don't--except for commas. I hate those things. This particular chapter needed all the emotion I could give it. I think I managed, or at least I hope I did. It's why I'm happy when I see readers have strong reactions, good or bad, to a character. It means I've done my job.
