    Chapter 2

It comes across as very real and true to life, my own issues are nothing like as bad but there are many similarities in the emotions so I can relate to a degree. The way you have captured it shows your skill.

  14. You may have noticed that I've altered slightly the way I'm telling you about my life, that's because it's easier for me verbalise and explain some parts and it's less painful for me, it still hurt's some times. I hope you don't mind too much. Chris ....... After Carl had calmed down and stopped laughing Jack took him down stairs, leaving me with Maggie and Janet. Maggie opened the windows to let some air in, it had become warm and stuffy with so many people in the bedroom. Then came
  15. I've just read the article and think you've done a great job there. The only other comment I can make is that I've read a lot of Gay Fiction, M/M, and not known until after reading it that it had been written by a woman. It's ranked among some of the best I've read, so I agree that the sex of the author doesn't matter, it's only if they write it well that matters. Kudos to the female authors that write stories like it, they can teach some of us how to improve our own work just as we can all learn from each other.

  18. There are many things that I remember from the past these are just two of the important ones, there were more honestly. Both were taught me by someone very important in my life. 1. In his words - You should always try to do your best and if you can honestly say that you have done your best then no one can expect more, but you should always try to improve on your best. 2. Not a quote but more of a code of life - To be my friend you only one qualification to be decent person, nothing else matters. To work for me you only need two qualifications, first be capable of prepared to do the job expected of you, second be a decent person. I try to live up to both of these pieces of wisdom every day, if I could be half the man he was I'd be a better man than I am today.
  19. I wish I could say that your wrong, but unfortunately you are very right, I've witnessed this on many occasions.

    Chapter 3

Back in the 1940's 50's and even the 60's, which is where the start of the story is set, this type of unfeeling attitude was prevalent in the then Child Welfare Department in the UK and possibly in other parts of the world too. Over time the service did improve, as did the training and education and the employment of Social workers with more empathy. This was marked by renaming the Department Social Services which enveloped all aspects of social care. During my time at university some redacted case histories were used to emphasise this and show how 'not' to be. In some cases what was said to children was far worse. Over time children's services have continued to improve and evolve and will continue to do so in the future. This type Social Worker is rare now and soon weeded out, forty to fifty years ago they were far more common and over time became fewer. I resigned my post as a Social Worker in 1997 due to "burnout' and frustration at working with non-caring colleagues. Most of my ex-colleagues were good caring people who did an excellent job and were as equally frustrated as I was.
